To get the sims 3 for PC or not to get the sims 3 for PC?
« on: January 26, 2014, 05:24:06 PM »
Hi! I'm a longtime sims player. Originally on the PC, then to the Wii, back to the PC, and now currently on the xbox. I'm wanting to move back to the PC. The main sims expansions I'm interested in are: Pets, university, late night and supernatural. Sooooo the question is, since the sims 4 is so close to coming out do I just wait it out? Or, should I get the sims 3 pets and just play that one for the meantime. I'm sick if all the missing features in the console version, and I've played the sims 2 pets I believe it was and LOVED it! The reason I'm considering waiting is because I'll be sad to erase my sims 3 families when the sims 4 comes out. And the same time I really want to play with the livestock on the sims 3 pets. It's it worth my starting up a town that will be doomed to be outdated soon? You see me dilemma.. Appreciate any expert advise! Thanks!!

I switched to PC Sims a few months ago, after playing the PS3 version. As much as I love The Sims, I won't be getting the Sims 4 as soon as it comes out. I generally wait a while when a game I want comes out, because a. In a few months the price drops a lot, and b. It gives the game developer time to sort out inevitable bugs.  If I was in your situation, I'd probably buy the expansions and then wait a while after Sims 4 comes out before buying it.  I haven't read up on the Sims 4, all I know it's coming out some time in 2014, which could mean at the end of the year, giving you almost 12 months to play Sims 3.

If you really want to switch over I would suggest keeping your eyes out for some sales, and once the expansions you want are the prize you are willing to pay - you get them.

If you are patient you could wait till the summer, there are usually large sales over the summer.

Coming from a technical stand point, my answer is, it depends. Do you know if you're PC will handle the game well enough? If you're not sure, search it out online.

If you find the PC to exceed the min. requirements, and you really want the game. I'd say look around online for some good sales, just as Saltpastillen said.

Even if you buy Sims 4 at or around it's launch time. You're Sims 3 game will work. You will still be able to play Sims 3.

Pam and Carl did say the forum will be long past launch of Sims 4. So we'll be here to help with game questions.

Thank you all so much!! I have thought it all over and the main extension I want it pets. And there's no telling when that expansion for the sims 4 will come out. I think for know ill just get the sims 3 and the expansion for pets. And yes I'm already looking online for deals. I'm pretty positive my PC will handle my gaming. I don't use it for anything else. (I use my work computer or my iPhone for everything else) just to remind me, what minimum specs should I have for the sims 3 with pets? Thanks!

You might find that searching for the min. system requirements may bring different results due to personal preferences and such. That's fine, but I'm listing what's on EA's site.

I'd recommend skipping Sims 4 and instead buying Sims 3 (plus whatever expansions you want) the next time it goes on sale. I bought the Sims 3 with 5 of its expansions for about $50 during the Steam Christmas sale (at the time, the game bundled with the pets expansion was only $15.99).

Mrs Flynn that info is great! How would I check my computer to see all of that info? I'm pretty sure I have a lot of it. I'm concerned about the hard drive space. It's only a laptop.

I'm assuming you're using Windows 7?

If you're using Windows 8

I hope this helps, :)

I just tried searching for Dominique online and it came up with some sites that I wasn't sure about. So I thought I'd ask what kind of store is it?

If you're looking for a digital copy, I'd recommend Origin or Amazon. Though the same two places may sell disk copies as well. It depends on if it's still available on disk.

I bought the base game on disc but I have bought most of the sp's and ep's though origin and I'm happy about that. The best feature by far is That I don't need to use a disc when playing.

But, if you buy your game on disc you can also download it from origin if you register your game there.
