Opal opened the gate and fished into her bag for the door key. She walked in to find her parents watching TV.
"Hey, Mum? Dad?" They switched the TV off and looked at her in a worried way. "I've been given an extra-credit task to do. It's going to take, well, a long time. I'll be staying at an abroad branch of the College for a year or two." As expected, after that there was confusion and crying. "Opal, once you've packed, you'd better say goodbye to Agnes, James and Felicity." said her mother. Agnes Crumplebottom was an old family friend of the Robinsons, and the twins James and Felicity had been Opal's best friends growing up.
Nowadays they were preoccupied trying to help their mother, now that Geoffrey Crumplebottom had died.
Opal hugged her mother and went up to her room.
After around three hours, she was pretty much done. She slipped downstairs and out of the door. She got into a taxi and gave the driver directions.
Opal hid her head in her hands as she sobbed quietly. “Here, miss.” Said the driver and she got out. She came and knocked on the door. Agnes answered the door. “Hey there, Opal.” Agnes said quietly.
“Hi, Auntie. I...I... I’m going to an abroad branch of the College for a year or two.” She burst out. Suddenly Agnes was alert. “Oh, Opal dear, we’ll miss you ever so much. Do you want to tell James and Felicity? James is at his inventing table and Felicity is probably reading up on cooking. We’ll miss you, Opal.” Opal nodded in thanks, a lump in her throat. She ran to the private library. “Liccy?” She called quietly, seeing her friend curled up on the sofa reading a green book.
“Hey, Opal! I feel like I haven’t seen you in ages.” Felicity grinned. “How’s my BFF?”
“I’m fine. It’s just, well, I’m moving for a while.” Felicity looked horrified. “What? Why? Where?-“ Opal cut her off before she could use all of the 5 Ws. “I’m moving to Koko Lakes, and tomorrow. Probably for a year or two. I’m doing an extra credit task for my degree.” Felicity sobbed on Opal’s shoulder for a while.
Then an alarm went off. Felicity looked terrified and whimpered. “I have a date with Conrad, I completely forgot!” She cried out. “What? Felicity!” A new voice sounded from the door, an annoyed and worried Malcolm Landgraab. “Felicity, how many times have I told you to break up with Conrad Keaton? He ruined Bella’s life! After I asked her to break up with him, and she did, he made her get back together with him! I tell Bella we’re through, and she breaks up with Conrad. Now they’re together, however much you try to deny that!” Felicity glared at him icily. “Guess what, Malcolm? It is
my choice who I date, not yours!”
There was a ring on the doorbell, and Felicity gasped. “He’s here!” She ran downstairs to where Conrad was waiting. “Hi, Felicity. Are you coming?” “No, she isn’t.” Malcolm growled. “She’s staying here.” Conrad narrowed his eyes. “Excuse me,” He said in a dangerously polite way, “But isn’t it the lady’s choice?” Malcolm growled. “Felicity doesn’t need to date horrible people like you.” Conrad rolled his eyes. “Why don’t you just go home to your little loser girlfriend? Oh wait, she’s married.”
“She was filing for divorce way before I started dating her! Arlo was cheating on her with two different girls!” Conrad walked slowly and menacingly towards Malcolm. “How ‘bout I teach you a few life lessons, huh punk?” Felicity began to look frightened. “Conrad, can we just go?” Conrad wasn’t even listening. Felicity grabbed his arm. He shook her off, throwing her into the door where she must have hit her head on a splinter, as it started bleeding. Conrad didn’t even seem to care. Opal stared in fury. Enough was enough for the rebellious daredevil, and she ran downstairs and slapped him. “Don’t you dare come back here.” She hissed.
Conrad walked out. There was a look in Opal’s eyes that nobody would ever argue with. Felicity was crying. “I should have believed you, Malcolm.” Her half-brother hugged her.
Opal decided to leave the drama and go find James. She timidly knocked on his bedroom door. “Come in.” He called, sounding slightly distracted. She walked in and saw him inventing some kind of widget.
“Oh hi Opal.” James put his inventing gear down. “What’s up?” Opal sighed. “Uh, your sister’s head is bleeding, Conrad Keaton is not welcome in this house or Malcolm and I will kick his butt, and I’m moving to Koko Lakes.”
James looked confused. “Not much going on then. Now repeat all that, slowly.” Opal laughed a little. “The Reaper says that to get my degree I have to do an extra credit task in Koko Lakes. So I came here to tell you guys, Conrad Keaton came here, hurt Felicity, I gave him the stare and he went away sharpish. Y’all got that?” James nodded slowly. “Uh, Opal, I kind of have to meet somebody soon, but I’ll miss you OK?” He went downstairs. James was dating Melanie Landgraab, his half-brother’s half-sister(Child of Nancy Landgraab and Thornton Wolff). Despite that being weird on so many different levels, Felicity and Opal hated snobby Melanie’s guts. For a while that jeopardized Opal and Felicity’s friendship with James, but now they were (slightly) more mature James just avoided the subject and the trio were friends. Opal sighed and went home in another taxi.
Opal opened the door and went in. “Um, Opal? You should probably go talk to Rose.” Her dad said. Opal nodded and ran upstairs. She opened the door quietly and Rose was on her bed.
Rose got up and the over emotional nearly teenage girl burst into tears when Opal told her everything. Opal hugged her in response.
Then she checked her watch. It was three pm, meaning her ride must be here. She walked out and saw a fellow student, Tiana. “Hey, Opal, I’ve got some business to take care of here in town. Take the car back for me? There’s a bus in the evening.” Opal looked it up and down. Sure, it wasn’t her dream motorbike, but it was pretty cool. “You bet, Tiana!”
In the garden, Tessa and Timothy were talking.
“Our Opal’s done so well.” sighed Timothy. “If we were younger, we could have another child. I know how you always wanted a little boy.” Tessa was quiet for a bit. “Would you really like another child?” She asked. “Heavens, yes.” Timothy replied. “But we can’t.” “Actually,” Tessa interjected, “That’s something I’ve been meaning to talk to you about. Agnes wants to adopt this kid she saw at an orphanage where she volunteered a few weeks ago. He’s a child and called Keith. But he really doesn’t want to be separated from his best friend. Agnes really wants Keith but she doesn’t know anybody in Sunset who will adopt a kid. Keith’s friend Dylan is a very active and sporty boy but also polite and friendly. If you’re serious about wanting another kid...” Timothy smiled. “Of course. We’ll need a bit of planning time, but we’ll figure it out. Together.”

I can’t believe it’s been 5 months! I am such a terrible person. Expect the last part of the prologue at least by the end of this week and that’s a promise. Then I may do an Outtakes post to show all the funny stuff that happened whilst I tried to set up the prologue. The first actual story entry will come in no more than two weeks.
Now, I feel obligated to give some background details. First off, Opal is one of the supporting characters in a story I wrote at school. She was just the heroine’s best friend, but somehow she really grew on me. I’d been thinking of doing a dynasty for a while then. Suddenly it clicked: Opal could be the watcher for my dynasty! On Opal herself, she was a confident, rebellious daredevil who was a bit quirky and kinda superstitious, she loved blowing stuff up and therefore chemistry. As a sim, her traits are Daredevil, Ambitious, Gatherer, Supernatural Fan and Rebellious. Her LTW is Alchemy Artisan. I may put her on the Swap Shop at some point. On another note, I’m planning to include the Grim Reaper that chetanhaobijam put on the Swap Shop but am awaiting consent from chetan. I can’t wait to put up the next chapter, so Grimmy will be invisible.
Disclaimer: Opal's house is made by Dellena and bubbles.
Oh, and I now have Generations, LN, OLS and Worlds Bundle.
That’s it from me!
