Possible Glich, Sims Get Stuck
« on: January 04, 2014, 10:34:21 PM »
Hi guys! This is my 1st post here, and I am in need of help!
I have an issue with my game where my sims get stuck ALL the time, this is usually when going to bed, showering, going to work, or mounting a horse or woohooing. They just stand there for hours, I can't cancel the action either. The worst is when they woohoo and the sheets stay elevated and they just stay in the bed. SOMETIMES if I save the game it fixes it, like they'll get in the shower or in bed, but saving takes too long to do all the time.

I thought maybe it was because of Pets, so I uninstalled the whole game and restarted it, w/o Pets. It was still happening. So I uninstalled Seasons (I got them within a week of each other and never had this issue before). Now I am down to just SN and base, and it's still doing it - it worked fine before I installed seasons.... idk if there can be residue from the game? I've removed EVERYTHING, all CC, etc. and have install and uninstalled 3 times now. It's getting annoying I can't play the game because the sims always get stuck, and half the time I can NOT reset them either.

Has anyone heard of an issue like this before or know of a way to fix it?

Welcome to our Forum.

There are several things you can try doing.  I suggest you look at our Technical Help board and try the things mentioned there, such as clearing caches.  My question is about whether this is happening in different game files or just the one file.  That's a good first step in the troubleshooting process.

Also, I edited the subject line of this thread to make it a little more specific.  "Possible Glitch" is rather vague and doesn't give readers a good idea of what's going on.

Yes I've cleared all caches, deleted all CC.
I'm not sure what you mean in one save file or more? But I did uninstall the game 3 times, deleted everything, and started new games. It was fine for a bit, but then just started to happen again. So I uninstalled and reinstalled, repeated etc. and nothing has fixed it.

It was fine today until I installed Seasons, but as soon as I turned the game on and saw the same thing was happening I quit without saving and uninstalled right away. Turned the game back on, and it was happening again.

The only Mod I have is the NRaas Story Progression one, but it is up to date with the patch.

What I mean is if you're playing an existing game file or if you're starting a brand new town.

I'm now wondering if perhaps your graphics card is not up for the job.  Have you tried lowering your graphics settings and playing in windowed mode?

Also, I'm moving this to the Technical Help board because it appears to be a technical issue and not a game play issue.

Sorry about putting it in the wrong section!

Yes I've played different towns and it happens in all games. My graphics card isn't super great, but the settings aren't set to high (just sim detail and texture) and I play in windowed mode.

I tried to reduce graphics and screen size, and everything seems to be back to normal... no freezing etc! (does screen size matter though?)
Pam, du bist ein Genie (genious!) Vielen dank!!

Hopefully this means I can install my other EPs and my old sims and it will still work!

Hi Nieder,

Thank you for making note of what you have tried. Something that comes to mind is, have you tried installing the super patch 1.63.5
http://eahelp.ea.com/en/article/the-sims-3-super-patcher/

And run a registry cleaner type program?  Something like Ccleaner - http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
This helps clean up temporary files, internet cache files and other files that are left behind that are no longer being used, after installing and uninstalling programs.

Yes I installed the patch, but never used one of those Ccleaner things. That would help if I get issues again?

Yes, it may help to run Ccleaner and it's registry cleaner, even now that the problem is fixed. It'll help clean up files that were left behind after the install/uninstall of the game.

The registry cleaner that I use is RegZooka.  I've been very pleased with it.
