Painting and Sculpting Pregnant Sims
« on: September 02, 2010, 08:14:43 PM »
I have just run into something new (to me) in my Dynasty game and I'm wondering if I have a bug or glitch, or if this is just something about the game I didn't know.  Holly, the current artist and sculptor, has just tried to sculpt and paint her pregnant daughter Wimsey.

1.  The sculpture turned out as a flat round disc.  I've had this happen before in my Wishmasters game, but not in this game.  The sculpture was described as "great" and was valued at $1200 or thereabouts.
This was the second attempt at sculpting Wimsey - the last one was obviously heading in this same direction, so I scrapped it.

2.  Several times I have tried to have Holly paint Wimsey.  Wimsey poses, the picture is framed, and - nothing.  Both Holly and Wimsey are left standing there.  I've never had this happen before in any game.

If this is some kind of bug in my game, it's going to make it impossible to complete the Dynasty.  I'm hoping there is just something that makes it impossible to paint pregnant sims, although I really don't know why that would be.  Anyone know what this is all about?

Unfortunately, I don't.  I didn't have any trouble with that when Creme Fraiche was sculpted or painted.  In fact, her sculpture showed her pregnant.

I haven't had the sculpture problem you've mentioned, but I have experienced the painting one.  Sometimes if I zoom out and then back in I'm able to get the sim's picture to pop up.  Sometimes when I go ahead and hit c to take the picture, it will show up in the painting even though I couldn't see the sim in the view finder.

Anyway, I'm sure it's a bug.  Hopefully once she has the baby you'll be able to get the picture and the sculpture you're hoping for. :)

Confirmed bug. That also happened to me today. Agnes was working on Recipe's Adult ice sculpture (and I'm quite sure he was not pregnant) and it turned into a flat round disc. The heart breaker? A Masterpiece worth $4700!  >:(

Thanks for the replies.  Metro, I'm not that worried about the sculpture - it apparently still counts as a sculpture of the sim in question, bizarre as that seems - can we still use it in the Dynasty, though?  Your call.

Aria, my painting issue is different that what you describe.  I am able to frame the picture, click C, and that's when nothing happens.  Both sims are left standing there doing nothing.  I've exited the game and will try again later, hoping the problem will have magically fixed itself.

I suppose. I couldn't bring myself to put a disc in the museum! So, mine's gone.  :D

I've just read in the Challenge section that other people have had the painting problem as well.  Nice to know I'm not alone - it appears this is one of many things that can, and do, go wrong in the game.  When did we last have a patch?

The sculpting bug is definitely not confined to pregnant sims. My Holly has just completed a 3rd sculpture of Jackson. One turned out with him as a goblin, one ended as a disc worth over a grand and the third is ok with him as a mad scientist. He still has a day before aging up, so I might get her to do one more, perhaps in his formal attire.

I was trying to sculpt my sims toddler, it took 10 tries before it was actually the toddler I was aiming for! Every time it was a flat disc. So it's definitely not just pregnant sims!

I have had Chris paint Diana when she was pregenant, came out fine. No other problems with paintings or sculptures.

It might just be that sculpting isn't a sure thing.  I've had heads cut off of topiaries when the thing goes wrong.  Maybe having the ice disk is just a result of the sculptor messing it up.
