Building Contest 2014 Notice

There are currently no plans to run Building Contests in 2014. This may change during the year however at the moment it is not worth the time of Ausette, Lilygirl and Myself as nobody is taking part.

I would also just like to thank Ladybug53 for her amazing participation in almost ever Contest, I apologise to her as I know she really enjoys the contests however its not a contest if only one person enters. Thank you again though Ladybug53.

Also another thank you to everyone who has taken part in the past, it used to be great seeing all these entries. I'm not sure if something has changed with the contests and it is my fault nobody enters but if nobody tells us these things then we can't do anything about it. So for now, there will be no more Contests in 2014.

That's a shame.  The only reason why I haven't been able to participate as much this year is because of other commitments that I have had, which has now come to an end. 

Thanks to samoht04, Ausette and Lilygirl for the time that you have put into the contests.  I do hope that they return.

Oh no! I haven't entered many contests myself, but I'm sad to see them end. I hope they are bought back at some point. Thanks to the team for their time.

Don't worry samoht, I'm sure it's nothing to do with the contests themselves. Speaking for myself, I just having other things (mostly homework and revision!) that keep me from the contests (and Sims in general). I'm sure this is the case for many other people. You and Ausette and Lilygirl shouldn't blame yourselves for the lack of participants, as it is in no way your fault.

Absolutely ditto with me. As Snuffles and others have said, time has unfortunately been at a premium and I haven't been able to participate nearly as often as I would have liked. Heck, even getting simming time in period has been a struggle at times.

That being said, samoht, Ausette, and Lilygirl--you guys have all done a fantastic job and each and every one of the contests has been creative and fun!

I don't believe it had anything to do with your contest choices . I have enjoyed participating in all of them . I only missed the last one as I just finished updating to Windows 8.1 and was just about ready to post my entry but this prevented me to continue until I can figure what it causing this problem . I really hope that you can continue at a later date . The Building Contest has been one of my favorite part on this Forum . I would like to thank samoht04 , Lilygirl and Ausette for all these awesome contests during the year . I truly have enjoyed myself , learned many things about building , thinking outside the box and it also has helped my creativity . I'm very sad to hear this but I do understand the situation as well .

Awww, that's sad to hear, but I understand.  I'm glad to have entered the ones I did.  They were a ton of fun!  I created things I never would have on my own.  Which is what I liked best about them.  Plus, they were what brought me to this wonderful forum   Recently, things have gotten really crazy with the holidays for me.  The ones I entered over the summer had a ton of people... but I guess when school got back into session and summer vacations were over everyone got really busy.  (I know I did for sure.)

The building contest team didn't do anything to turn me off.  Please don't blame yourselves at all.  I had all intentions of doing the December Dream (I was so excited to finally have an idea to use Katy Perry's Sweet Treats!), but time slipped away so quickly in those two weeks over Christmas.  My husband and I are still recovering from all the craziness.  That's what happened to me for a few of the other recent contests as well.  I don't know, maybe longer time frames would have helped out? 

I too hope the contests come back at a later time.  But from the sounds of it... everyone is just quite busy right now.    Thanks samoht, Ausette, and Lilygirl for all of your work with these contests they were a ton of fun!

I just want to express my thanks to samoht04 and the rest of the team for all of the time and effort put into the contests this year.  You guys did a great job.  It's a shame they have to end, but these things happen.  Plus, we're near the end of the reign of Sims 3 and it's only natural that some things will change.  You're all the best and I know we'll have other projects coming in 2014 that will be fun and interesting.

I, for one, am definitely guilty of not submitting my contest entries.  I'm a grown up now AND a teacher, and my prime building time(weekends) are also prime lesson planning time.  Deadlines for building always seemed to coincide with something school related.

I am also guilty of not entering and now I feel awful. But alas I cannot play the Sims as often as I would like because of school and other things. Sorry for making it seem it is anyone's fault. I hope you guys can revive the contests later on, as they were very fun and helped me be more creative. I hope you understand and a big thank you to samoht, Ausette, and Lilygirl! It was fun, and one reason I joined the forum in the first place

I'm also guilty of not entering. Like Guilliver the cat!, I feel awful for not. There were many contest I planned to enter, but I never managed to execute a build in time. For one contest that I was excited to enter, everything in my life just got crazy and I wasn't able to find the time. I hope that maybe the contest can be revived at a later date. But I understand why, as the buildings weren't as many as time went on.

I want to thank the whole building team; samoht, Ausette and Lilygirl for all their hard work that they put in for creating such an amazing set of contests. I can say for myself, that it was nothing on your part. You were all very helpful when I pmed you guys with questions. It was a matter of time managing on my side. Thank you for everything!

Have to join in with everyone else here.  I love the building contests but, with family and work commitments, Simming time is in shorter supply that I'd like.  At the moment, playing one game and writing about it takes all of the time I can spare.

You all have done a great job with creating the contests and I have loved seeing the amazing things that people can do with their builds. Things that I couldn't even dream of doing.

My excuse for not entering more contests is simple. I really really hate building. I always hoped for a lets build a box with one window and a door contest but alas it was not to be.

Thanks to Samoht, Ausette and Lilygirl for the wonderful contests you've given us over the past 2 1/2 years.  I'm a terrible builder and painfully aware of it, which is why I haven't been entering.  But the contests have been so creative, and the talented builders that have taken part have, as Ratchie said, given us some really amazing creations.  I just love looking through this board and marvelling at what people have created.

As a silent lurker I enjoyed looking at what everyone came up with but totally understand why the contests are ending. If it's a time commitment to make the buildings, I can imagine what a time commitment it must have been to coordinate the contests, so my proverbial hat goes off to all 3 of you for a good run while it lasted.

My reasons for not entering are pretty much the same as Rachel and Schipperke's - I bet I could pick a really nice door though, maybe even the perfect window to go with it.
