Oh, yes, she did survive.  I had her grab her magical sculpting gnome, clicked on a coupon in her inventory, and sent her to the store to buy tuna for 75% off.

Glad you saved your Sim. And the gnome. Finally got to see a gnome do something helpful once I got one of those! So this Sim has the Frugal Trait? I've never played a Sim with that Trait. What do you think of it?

Correct.  I have had about 6 meteors hit.  This is the only one that has hit at night.  All others were during the day.

Were these all with the same game/Sim?    If not, have you ever had more than one in a game or with a particular Sim?

All of the meteors were in different games with different Sims.  My game likes to give me meteors.  So 6 meteors out of 9 saved games.  They seem to like me. 

In fact my first post ever to the forum was because I had a meteor hit and messed everything up on my lot!  That was back in June.  I didn't play for 1 month, was on holiday, so on average I get a meteor every 2 'real' weeks.

The pictures I have with the "no walls" house was actually the first time I ever tried a game like that.  Go figure!  But one trend I do notice is that I like to have my sims spend a lot of time outside, regardless if they have the 'love the outdoors' trait or not.  My guess is if you spend a lot of time outside on your lot for consecutive days, you are going to get hit.  So I tried the "no walls" house, but I probably won't do that again.  The destruction was a little to devastating for me.

2. If you're trying virtual meteorites, why not go to the catalog and choose gigantic-earthquake-that-destroys-half-of-house-and-nearly-kills-cat-ruins-working-laptop-making-you-loose-all-data-for-article-on-VirtualReality-and-to-top-it-all-off-************************-!
(No, they are not swear words, but it is against the forum rules to mention it. "Kids Read This. Enough Said". And no, it's not what you think it is, I had my nephew in the house at the time, but he's fine, except for my cat, he's in the veteran)
Anyway, on that happy note, NUMBER 3!

Jeff, I read your post earlier and it confused me. Did you ... have a ... reality-based earthquake event?

Er, did you have an earthquake while NOT playing the Sims3?

I'm playing my first Fire Fighter this morning, and it mentioned "Earthquakes" as far as disasters my Sim might have to respond to. I've still not seen a meteor in-game, much less an earthquake ...

I knew there was an earthquake in NZ; you're saying it took out half your house?  I'm so sorry to hear that!    Of course you're allowed to moan over that! Is your place condemned? Do you have somewhere to stay? I hope your cat wasn't too badly hurt.

No kidding! I'd be upset too. I've got two Sims who work outside a lot right now. But the gardening is done on an irregular basis, as in not necessarily the same time each day. The other Sim, though, except for trips into the house for necessities, spends almost all day outside in one place, and has done so for three (Sim) weeks now. I guess I've been lucky.

Yes, sorry Happytime.
Not virtual Earthquake, real Earthquake.
I live in New Zealand, and it took out half my house and nearly killed my cat, and I had to pull my nephew out from under my bookshelf.
Computers can so douse your sense of reality. Here we're talking about meteorites, now I'm in Sydney with my best buddy. I think my sister's going to kill me though.
LOL.
My nephew just told me not to worry.
Anyway, Earthquakes aren't very eventful. When one happens while you're on duty, the in-game screen shakes, and you get the "Earthquake Response to Emergency Thing" and once you get to the house, you just have to free sims from rubble and fix up some gas leaks.
Large fires are much more fun.

Yeah, I'm staying in Sydney right now. (I do not need a tidal wave next) My nephew is better, he's still on crutches but I have to stop talking now because he's telling me to be quite.

My cat doesn't look good, but the vet says he could make it through. He's cracked his legs and his skull was nearly crushed. 
Going on a fishing trip soon, so since my family's been in the Angling business from my great-great grandfather to my dad, (no, I did not carry on the tradition, my traits are: Bookworm, Computer Whiz, Hopeless Romantic, Natural Cook, and I dunno. LOL)
I've actually got a house, it belonged to my friend, but he moved to the UK, so he gave me the house (I did pay) it's been slightly damaged, the garage and wreck room fell down, but my insurance should pay for the reconstruction.
But I'll still be staying from place to place for at least three months.
It'll be fun: like living in a suitcase.
Hey, that's cool.
I could use that in an article.
