Enemies

"Come on Blair! Your parents are on TV!" Cyclone said.

"I don't want to come up." Blair responded quietly.

"Come on Blair, it's cool! You'll be fine. You already live with the mayor." Stiles said in a sweet voice.

"Fine." Blair grunted. She walked up the stairs and sat down on the couch.

"There you are!" Emma sneered. "They are about to air your parents' interview, Renee Littler is going to interview them, and the press conference will be aired after!"

"Tamara, why don't you come join us?" Cyclone asked. "I mean, it's not like you're the mayor or anything."

"You know, with all the money I have, I could easily move out of this house and purchase Villa Alto." Tamara said, as she made dinner. Tamara was the mayor of Sunset Valley. As bizarre as it was to have roomates, Tamara wasn't bothered. These people were her friends, and she would never leave them.

"Whatever." Cyclone said.

"Blair! It's about to come on!" Emma said.

"Yay." Blair said sarcastically.

The TV screen changed to a normal looking room. Blair's parents sat on a regular sofa, and the interviewer, Renee Littler, sat across from them.

"First of all, Mr. and Mrs. Wainwright, I'd like to thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules for this interview." Renee said.

"Oh, it's no problem at all." Blair's mother, Susan replied. "In fact, Boyd is close to finishing the design."

"Wow! You can make stuff that fast?" Renee said, obviously shocked.

"Yes!" Blair's father, Boyd, said. "I've actually pictured this plan for years, so I had many designs of possible spaceships."

"That is so interesting!" Renee replied.

"I actually brought them with me." Boyd said. "Do you want to see them?"

"Can he do that Tamara?" Emma asked.

"Yes," Tamara said. "As long as he doesn't show the one WE are going to use."

Boyd took out a sheet of paper, on it was numerous sketches, notes, and what looked like the exterior of a spaceship.

"This is my 'normal' design. It's designed to look like a normal one."  The camera zoomed in on the paper. Blair still couldn't understand what it said. Boyd went through several designs, one was shaped like a donut, another shaped like a cylinder, and one shaped like a giant bowl. On each one, he gave the advantages and disadvantages of each design. Blair didn't understand anything he said.

"I'm so lost.." Emma said.

When Boyd was finished with the designs, Renee asked them various questions. Just normal ones like 'What was your reaction when the plan was approved' 'What is your favorite thing about the current design' and other boring questions. Blair was starting to space out, when they got to the last question.

"Lastly, will you be traveling on that spaceship?" Renee asked.

"Of course!" Susan said. "We're gonna get our lovely daughter, Blair, to come along as well."

"Blair, you're so lucky!" Cyclone said.

"What?" Blair said.

Emma rolled her eyes. "Your parents are going to make you come along on the space ship."

Blair stared at the TV, and ran out of the house. She couldn't be leaving! She couldn't!

---

"Nice Emma." Stiles said.

"Hey, don't get angry at me!" Emma hissed.

Tamara's phone rang, the caller ID read Tori Kimura, one of the people who worked for her.

"Hey, Tamara, I have a friend who knows someone who thinks their brother was on the SimGalaxy. Is it okay if you look at the manifest to make sure?" Tori asked

"I read the manifest almost fifteen times today so I would know who could leave and who could stay in Sunset Valley. I'm pretty sure I have all the names memorized." Tamara responded.

"Okay, good. This guy's name is Paulo."

"Paula?" Tamara asked. "There was a woman named Paula Alvi, she was pregnant too."

"No, Paulo. Paulo Frio."

"Yes, there's a Paulo." Tamara said.

"Okay, thank you Tamara." Tori hung up.

----

"YOU ARE GOING ON THAT SPACESHIP WITH US! YOUNG LADY!" Vita screamed at her daughter, Holly.

"NO! I'm not! I'm not going to let you force me to do anything anymore!"

"Excuse me?!" Vita growled. "You WILL go on this spaceship, I AM forcing you to, because you ARE my daughter, that is final. If you protest it in the slightest way, you'll be locked in your room for the rest of the year. No going out with friends, no prom, no after school activities."

"FINE!" Holly responded. "If I have to be locked up for my opinion, then I'm out of here!" Holly stormed out of the house.

"Give her two minutes." Nick, her father, laughed. "She'll be back soon. And she'll be punished for that disgusting behavior."

Vita snickered. "You're completely right."

---

Nancy didn't notice Holly Alto walking on the sidewalk as she drove up to her house. She had her mind on other things.

---

However, her son Malcolm did. He was excited for a trip in space it ought to be exciting! Suddenly, he heard a car outside of his house, he looked out the window.

His neighbor, Holly Alto, was running on the sidewalk. That was strange, it was nearly midnight.

---

Erin Kennedy stopped her car in beside the running girl. She was heading home from the press conference.

"Hey, young lady!" Erin said. "What are you doing out here so late?"

Holly recognized the woman, she was Erin Kennedy, the assistant captain.

"Please..leave me alone. I'm leaving Sunset Valley." Holly said.

Erin raised her eyebrows. "You're running away?"

"Yes." Holly answered. "Please don't take me home, my parents are bad people!" Holly said.

"Really? Why?"

"Well..my mom..she's a corrupt politician. She's tried bribing people to make them vote for her. My dad..he's..a criminal."

"Hm.." Erin said. "Tell you what, I'll let you stay at my house for the night, but the next morning, you're going to have to leave to wherever your destination is."

"Thank you." Holly said. "Thank you so much."

Discovery

Miraj groaned as he got out of bed. It was Monday, so school was starting again. He knew he was going to confront his father about the article after school. He didn't want to talk about it with VJ around. He walked into the kitchen to find his father making breakfast, waffles.

"Morning." Miraj sayed as he yawned.

"Morning to you as well." His father replied.

Miraj sat down and he and his father ate the waffles. Soon, VJ joined them (he always slept in) and started chewing with his mouth open. Gross.

Soon, they cleaned up, and the plates were in the dishwasher. Miraj went to the bathroom to brush his teeth. It seemed like a normal morning, but Miraj didn't feel right. Why was that article so important? He finished brushing his teeth and sat down on the couch until he heard the school bus come. He and VJ boarded the bus.

School went by really fast. One thing Miraj noticed was that his classmate, Mortimer, looked sad. Mortimer's best friend, Bella, kept trying to talk to him, but Mortimer wouldn't respond.

Another classmate of his, Kayylynn, was looking rather sad as well. Something was happening..

Miraj exited the school bus as it dropped by their house, it was time to confront his father about the article.  He opened the door, his father was watching TV. Miraj sat down on the couch next to him.

"Hi there, buddy!" His father said. "How was school?"

"It was good, but..I need to ask you something." Miraj replied.

"Sure, what is it?" His father asked.

"Have you heard of..the SimGalaxy?" Miraj asked.

His father's eyes immediately widened. "Where did you hear about that?" He said.

"That article you read yesterday..I read it when you weren't looking. I'm sorry! I just wanted to know why you wanted to hide it from me." Miraj responded.

His father sighed. "I'll tell you when you're older." He said. "Why don't you go do your homework?" His father started to get up from the couch.

Miraj didn't know why he said what he was about to say this, but somehow, he couldn't resist.

"Mom was on there, wasn't she?" He immediately said.

His father turned pale. "Fine. She was, happy now?"

"Why did you lie to me? You said she left and you didn't know where she went!" Miraj angrily said.

"Because she left because of me!" His father yelled. His eyes watered. "That's why she left. We had an arguement about something you wouldn't understand, so when she saw the ad for that spaceship..she just packed her bags on the launch day..and left."

There was a moment of silence.

Finally, his father broke it. "I'm sorry, for yelling at you Miraj. You had every right to be angry. I just.." His voice trailed off.

"It's okay dad. How did you know she went on the SimGalaxy?"

"She actually left a note. She said she was never coming back. She would go wherever that spaceship was going." A tear streamed down his father's cheek. "She didn't say anything that was a form of goodbye. I didn't want you to grow up knowing that your mother left you."

Miraj hugged his father. "It's okay dad. It's okay. Are we going to go on that rescue ship?"

"Yes, we are. We're going to find Paula." His father said.

----------

There was a knock on the door.

"Come in," Blair responded.

Stiles walked in.

"Hi," He said.

"Hi." Blair replied as she stared at the wall.

"You've been here all morning." Stiles said.

"I know, I'm just so upset that my parents are making me come along on that rocket. I don't want to leave you guys behind." Blair sighed.

"Well, Tamara told us that there have been a lot of complaints about many people's friends leaving..so the council is holding a lottery for more additional passengers, since there is more than enough space and supplies for more people." Stiles said. "Emma has already entered us."

"Are you serious?!" Blair squealed. She gave Stiles a hug. When they broke apart, they started holding hands.

"Are you happy?" Stiles grinned.

"Very." Blair replied. She and Stiles both knew what was next.

They kissed.

-------

Erin's alarm clock rang. Morning already? She was still very tired. That girl, Holly, should still be asleep on her couch. She should start making breakfeast anyway.

As she cooked, she heard Holly's footsteps behind her.

"Morning." Holly said.

"Good morning to you." Erin said as she turned around. "Did you pack any clothes?"

Holly's face turned pale. "No, I left so quickly..I didn't have time to."

"Hm." Erin said. "You can borrow some of mine for the day. After school you should go clothes shopping."

"I'm not going to school." Holly said. "My parents will be looking there."

"Well, education is important. Did you even think this 'running away' thing through? You're just going to have to blend in at school."

"What if.." Then Holly remembered. Her parents will be at their jobs all day. They would get fired if they missed a second of work. "Nevermind, I think I can handle it."

Erin smiled. "Good," she said. "Now go put some new clothes on. You can use some of mine."

Erin's clothes were rather simple. A green long-sleeved shirt and some jeans. Holly still had to wear her yellow shoes, so they didn't match. But that was the least of her concern now. She would go shopping after school. Holly took out a hair tie and tied her hair in a ponytail. She looked in the mirror, she looked like an entirely different person.

"I'm ready." Holly walked back into the kitchen.

"Good, so is breakfast." Erin said.

They sat down and started to eat.

"So, you're the captain of the spaceship?"

"Assistant captain," Erin corrected. "Mr. Bunch is the captain."

"Oh, I know some of his kids. Ethan is in my grade and Lisa is in the grade below." She rolled her eyes at the thought of Lisa. Lisa and her boyfriend, VJ Alvi were always causing trouble.

"Huh, I didn't know Jack had kids." Erin said sarcastically.

Holly laughed. "Yes, he has four of them!"

"Ah, no wonder he's always talking about complaining about someone named Darlene, also someone named Arlo, and someone named Lisa!"

They both laughed, it was a cheesy joke, but still it was funny. Erin and Holly talked so much that they lost track of time.

Holly looked at the clock, it was seven thirty. The bus would be coming soon.

"I got to go get ready." Holly said.

"Wait," Erin said, stopping her. "If you want to stay here for the rest of the week, you're more then welcome too." Erin smiled.

"Really? Thank you so much!" Holly said.

A few minutes later, Holly left on the bus. Erin now had to go to work, but she was happy. She had never had a real friend before.

You know, I've never really delved into what makes Iqbal tick. He seems like a good enough father, at least he tries his best, but I can't imagine how he must feel with his wife having left him.

Aw, Blair. That part with her and Stiles was very touching. I hope that he will be able to come along. :)

Indeed, Holly has found a good friend in Erin--and a good mentor. She could learn much from a strong, independent woman as she.

The more I read the more I want to know--and that's a fantastic thing! You've got me seriously hooked. ;)

Thanks! Erin is tough, Holly could learn from her.

Iqbal has always been interesting for me. He always struck me as a father who always wanted the best for his kids, but had limited resources.

Poor Iqbal, I feel sorry for him. I think Holly is much better of with Erin.

I do too, Vita and Nick always struck me as awful people.

It's great how this is connecting and advancing each townie household's storyline! I'm only familiar with the Sunset Valley townies because of this forum; I virtually never play in SV. I'm off to read some of the Lunar Lakes Sims' bios to familiarize myself with some of the faces that may pop up in the next couple of chapters.

Thank you! Some familair faces will pop up in the next chapter.

You'll find out in a chapter or two..

Hi everyone! The long-awaited chapter is here!

Chapter 5: Hardships

Holly opened the door to Erin's house, a shopping bag in-hand. She found Erin sitting, watching the TV. Erin turned it off, and smiled at her.

"Nice to see you back." She said.

"It's good to be home." Holly said, then suddenly froze. Home, did she really just say that? Is she going to live with Erin until she graduates? Holly was scared. She was really scared about her parents in particular. What if they found out that she was staying in a complete stranger's house? What will her punishment be? More like, if they get lucid enough through their rage to articulate a form of punishment.

Erin frowned, she could tell what Holly was thinking. "I know you're afraid." She said, "Trust me, I know what it's like. I'll protect you, don't worry."

"I can't hide here forever." Holly said. "It's been a day, I've never been gone for this long. We need to form a plan."

"I don't think that's needed-"

"It is." Holly said, tears forming in her eyes. "If they found out what you're doing..they'll take it to court. I know for sure. Then, you'll lose everything. Also, there's that shuttle thing.."

"You'll graduate before it launches." Erin said.

"I know but..how can I pay for college? No offense, but I want to pay for it myself. There's no way I can collect enough money to pay for it."

Erin sighed. "I have a plan, I think," she said.

"What is it?" Holly asked, crossing her arms.

Erin looked up. "We need to make you look like my niece."

-----

Holy stared in the mirror. A complete stranger looked back at her.

The process took two days. There was a haircut, then there was a black hair dye. She lost her beautiful long, blonde hair. It was worth it. Then, she and Erin went to the City Hall to register her as a new person. The worker, Sunny Bakshi was a good friend of Erin's, and vowed to keep it a secret.

"You know, you could be arrested for this." Erin had said as Sunny entered Holly's new name into the computer.

"All I care about is doing the right thing." Sunny had replied.

Johanna Kennedy. That was Holly's new name. It took the school weeks to get over her transformation. They all knew her secret, heck, it technically wasn't a secret anymore. The only people who didn't need to know were her parents. Holly lived in fear of constant betrayl.

It was working, for the first few weeks, her parents search of her was unsucessful.

It all changed when Officer Keaton showed up.

Erin was working out when the doorbell rang, she peeked outside her curtain and saw it was a police officer. Erin silently motioned Holly to hide, and she obeyed. Holly ran in the backyard and hid under the deck.

Erin opened the door, and a dark-skinned woman, the officer was there.

"Good evening Officer," Erin said. "Do you need any help?"

"Yes, I need your cooperation." She said, and stepped inside the house without being invited in.

Erin's forehead wrinkled. Rude. "Officer, can you make this quick? I have a-"

"Silence." She said. "My name is Officer Keaton. I'm here to investigate the disapearance of Holly Renee Alto. She was seen in this area a few days ago, and her parents contacted me to investigate this area. Do you know anything about this girl?" Officer Keaton showed a photo of Holly to Erin.

Erin was prepared. "Slow down please," Erin said. "Are you telling me that YOU think I KIDNAPPED her? And her face does ring a bell, but the teenagers hang out in this area sometimes. There's one that lives across from me, I think his name is VJ, and he throws a lot of parties. So no, I didn't abduct her."

"I never implied that." The Officer Keaton scoffed. "May I have a look around? I need to see if she was around here."

Erin saw no use arguing. "Fine." She said. Then she had an idea. "Don't go in the bedroom though, it's a mess." ALways place suspicion on the wrong areas.

Of course, Officer Keaton checked the bedroom first, then the kitchen, and the bathroom.

"I'll take a look outside." She opened the sliding glass door and was about to look under the deck when her walkie-talkie came to life. "Keaton," A man's voice said. "There's a huge car accident on Oak Grove. Civilians are going too close to the wreakage. Can you please come and help over?"

Officer Keaton picked up the walkie-talkie. "Affirmative Goddard, I'm on my way." She then left, only saying she'll visit the next day.

She did, and found nothing.

"Holly?" Erin's voice interrupted her thoughts. "Dinner!"

"Coming!" Holly said.

Erin told her it was pasta night, and they high-fived.

-------

Stars. All Mortimer could see. Stars. Some big, some small, twinkling over. He had no thoughts, nothing. Mortimer looked at the town of Sunset Valley. Smoke rose in the distance, a fire, no doubt. He could see the falshes of police lights, circling around. It felt like a city.

Mortimer saw a musical in Bridgeport once, Bella's family had invited them to come. It was a blast. Mortimer went to the baseball game wiith Michael, Bella's brother. They then saw the musical, Les Miserables, in the theater. Bella and Mrs. Bachelor came with them. Mortimer loved it, but Bella fell asleep halfway through and leaned against Mortimer, who stroked her hair during the show. He loved it. One song from it, On my Own, was stuck in his mind. It fit his situation pretty well. The song was about Eponine, a character in the play, who had just found out that her lover, Mavius, was in love with a girl named Cosette. Mortimer closed his eyes, and sang.

On my own
Pretending she's beside me
All alone,
I play with her 'til morning
Without her,
I feel her presence around me
And when I lose my way I close my eyes
And she is with me
in the rain, the pavement shines like silver
All the lights are misty in the river
In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight
And all I see is her and me forever and forever

I love her...

I love her...

I love her...

But I'm on my own...

Mortimer's song echoed into the night. He knew it was cheesy, but it made him feel better, knowing that Bella was out there, thinking about him. Mortimer's friend, Miraj Alvi, sometimes teased him about being 'in love' with her. Was he in love? He enjoyed her presence, he couldn't imagine life without her.

But it didn't matter. He was going to leave Sunset Valley with his parents, and Bella will be left behind. He had no choice.

He quietly gazed at the moon for awhile, and then went to bed.
