Where to take Fishing Class in Appoloosa Plains? ETA: solved!
« on: December 21, 2013, 10:15:02 PM »
I haven't been able to find where to take the class for Fishing skill in Appoloosa Plains. Is there one? Or is there another way to start fishing? My Sims went to Cinnamon Crest Falls with assorted baits in their packs, but their only option was Fish. The got the "the fish don't seem to be biting" message after a couple hours. They also are not able to read the bait books. Maybe they'll have better luck at the Water Treatment center, or in the river.  Thanks in advance for any help you can give! I really love that this site, forum, and all you helpful, friendly folks are here!

Welcome to the forum, fruitbat.  Your Sim won't be able to use bait until s/he has at least one point of fishing skill.  As for where to take the class, I've never tried in Appaloosa Plains specifically, but the fishing class in other towns is always at the grocery store, so I assume that's where it is in Appaloosa Plains as well.  Be sure to try during the day, when the classes are being offered.

Glad you're enjoying the forum.  :)

Aha! During the day was the trick; the first time I tried, it must've been at night, knowing the grocery store was open 24/7. Too bad the choice for a fishing class didn't come up shadowed!

I smile every time I see your posts, Schipperke, because my BFF used to have a dog with a Schipperke father and and Pomeranian mother (not planned, but woohoo happens). She was about seven pounds, with a curled tail that wasn't as fluffy as most Poms, but with a very Schip look to her otherwise, ears, muzzle, coat, body shape. She was so small that sometimes from a distance people would think my friend was walking a cat :)

A Pom and Schip cross?  I bet that little dog was a real go-getter!  There's a black Pom living down the street from me.  He's a big boy, bigger than most Poms, and with his black coat he looks quite Schip-like.  Of course, in my very biased opinion, Schips are best!  Which is why my boy James is my avatar.  By the way, the picture is too small to see it clearly, but the book on the ground beside James is called "How to Teach your Dog to Read."  :D

And just so this post isn't totally off-topic, I wanted to say that on the subject of reading the bait books, those will be unlocked for your Sim at different levels of fishing skill.  But it's a long time since I spent the money and time on the books.  The Guide's Fishing Page lists the bait for the different species of fish, and it's easy to look it up and just have your Sim use the appropriate bait for the fish you want them to catch.  Once the Sim has caught a fish using the appropriate bait, their skill journal will show that they know the bait for that fish, even though they've never read the book.  I'm not sure if that page of the guide has the fish from all the most recent expansions on that page, but you could probably find them in the pages for whatever EP's you're using.
