This is the first challenge I did on this site, so I'm thrilled to be trying it again!

That's great lvrugger. :)   Looking forward to seeing your participation.

I like two things:
  • They are doing repeats of two challenges from the 2010 Tournament to kick off the 2014 Tournament.
  • These two challenges are both easy to do - upgrade every items on every community lot in Sunset Valley, and get perfect stuff in cooking, fishing and gardening. No messing around with life states or babies or, in the first case, vacations.

I will probably try to participate in one of these, Metro. I will PM you on New Year's Eve to let you know if I decide to do one or both of these challenges, though I know I probably won't stand a chance against the masters, lolz.  ;D Since I got a nice shiny new Samsung ATV with the computer in the monitor and a much bigger memory and better graphics card, there will be less errors. I may have to stick with mini challenges instead of Dynasties since I have installed Into the Future and that expansion makes it so you can't get opportunities that aren't travel-related. :(
I play The Sims 4 for fun, so I don't care if I never end up being interviewed for the Dynasty Hall of Fame; people who play for keeps burn out too easily and don't enjoy playing the games, so I am going to not sweat the details.

Another nitpicky question, though this applies to all challenges. With the new loading screen being able to give you free LTR points, should we disable it during challenges or is it allowable?

Yes, the loading screens that give LTH points have to be disabled, as stated in the general rules for the Tournament.

Yeah I suppose it's not in the most obvious place, but it is there:

Options > General Settings > uncheck the Enable Interactive Loading Screens box

Speeded through this challenge  ;) :

Plants:    45 x 1000 = 45,000
Recipes:  29 x 1000 = 29,000
Fish:        39 x 1000 = 39,000

Total Score = 113,000

Just a heads up everyone, general challenge rules have changed from last year. Do read them again if you haven't done yet. Lifespan normal, no motive mobiles, no moodlet managers, no transfiguration, no dream pods.

Sorry if this throws a monkey wrench into your plans but this needed to be added just now:

  • You are only allowed to plant on your starting lot.

Very pleased with how this one went for me, did far better than I thought I would when I started.

57 perfect plants = 57000
36 perfect fish = 36000
51 perfect meals = 51000

Total = 144,000

Due to some tactical errors and poor research I missed my mark. I'm really looking forward to hearing everyone's strategies on this one, and to get the answer to a question burning in my mind ;) Sometimes flying by the seat of ones pants really is to your detriment.

Fish: 39x1000
Plants: 53x1000
Recipes: 32x1000

total: 39,000+53,000+32,000=124,000

Yes, just remember this rule:

You are only allowed to plant on your starting lot.

If you get a island as a reward or through anything else, it must be sold right away and can not plant on it.
