Very Important: I know we're at the 11th hour here, but I changed some scoring stuff. Forget counting the unique upgrades list at the bottom of the Skill Journal. Just write down the number of the Unique Upgrades Completed stat instead. Easier. Also — I am increasing the weight of the unique stat from 2k to 3k. But, reread the Scoring section carefully before you begin so you are clear. Thanks everyone and good luck. I apologize for the last minute change.

We would like to make the following rule a little more clear:

  • You may not buy more than one type of any upgradeable object in Buy Mode — i.e. you cannot buy two stoves.

So, lets examine buying toilets, showers and tubs. With the combo types of plumbing objects available there are 5 total possibilities: toilets, showers, tubs, tub/shower, and toilet/shower. We decided since in buy mode there is a section for tub that is separate from shower and a toilet, you can buy those, however the tub/shower and toilet/shower is listed in both tabs and you must decide which one you want to have as your one upgradeable object (either tub, toilet or shower). So, the bottom line is despite there being 5 possibilities you can only buy 3 of those 5 types of objects.

Benefit of being in NZ... I'm already almost halfway through my file (it's 2:37 PM on the 1st here). ;) Not doing too well, but I'm halfway there.

I was reading over the rules since only 20 minutes left here before 2014. Was relieved to see I'm not the only one counting down before I can start the new challenges.  LOL  ;D

We wanted to remind everyone that you may only buy one of an upgradeable item. We would hate to have people get a DNF because they bought more than one item not thinking of it. Please PM the team if you have questions.

Bobby Goodwrench performed 27 unique upgrades on 33 different objects. 27x3000 = 81,000 + 33,000 = 114,000. Nice to be at the top of the leaderboard, at least for an hour or two.

Handysim Ella Starr has laid down her wrench and was last seen skinny dipping somewhere in Sunset Valley, something she had been wishing for for 2 weeks. She completed 22 unique upgrades and upgraded 32 objects. 22x3000=66,000+32,000 for a grand total of 98,000.

Frankie Fix-It is exhausted!

Objects Upgraded: 41 (41 X 1000 = 41,000)
Unique Upgrades Completed: 30 (30 X 3000 = 90,000)

Total = 41,000 + 90,000 = 131,000

Very quick challenge, wish I had practiced more for it then I might not have made the mistakes I did, still it was fun while it lasted which wasn't very long actually  ;D

Upgrades 35 x 1000 = 35000
Unique upgrades 25 x 3000 = 75000

Total score 110,000

A potential exploit has been brought to the team's attention and the following rule unfortunately needed to be made firmer:

  • You may not buy more than one type of any upgradeable object via any means...Buy Mode or some other way — i.e. you cannot buy two stoves.

If you have posted a score already and did indeed find a way around the former rule, then you're allowed to start over. Thanks.

I really liked this challenge! I think having only two weeks will even the playing field  for players without more expansion packs.

I was able to upgrade 36 objects, 21 of which were unique.

36 X 1000 = 36000
21 X 3000 = 63000
36000 + 63000 = 99000

I agree. I knocked this out very quickly myself. In fact, I finished yesterday but got sidetracked and did not post my score.

Objects Upgraded: 40 = 40,000
Unique Upgrades Completed: 27 = 81,000

Total = 40,000 + 81,000 = 121,000

That went very quickly!

I got only 15 unique upgrades, let down by my lack of expansion packs I think. 15x3000= 45000
I did 39 total upgrades. 39x1000=39000

Total =84000 :)
