I'm Sick of Paid Time Off
« on: December 12, 2013, 05:05:35 PM »
My Sim is trying to get to level 10 in the medical career track. It seems like every week she gets a day off work, due to some holiday!

I'm sick of it! I really want her to progress quickly so she can have a baby and not have to worry about work! Maybe even retire after reaching level 10! :)

Is there any way to still progress your career when you can't get to work? Or should I just take the day off as an opportunity to increase her skills and mood so she can progress quickly?

If the holidays are annoying you, one option would be to adjust your season length in Settings. The default 7-day seasons mean you'll get a holiday once a week, but you can lengthen each season up to 28 days.

Otherwise, yes, you can spend the day increasing work related skills, or reading journals from work. If your sim's a workaholic she can work from home on the computer. And she may be able to get a promotion or raise by chatting to her boss and asking for them. The medical career track often requires your sim to come into work at odd hours for emergencies - it's possible these will still happen on holidays. Good luck!

It would be good if you could have the option of going into work on holidays, and be paid double time and a half like in the real world! Especially in a career like medical. What happens if a sim is having her baby, and all the medical sims are having a holiday? LOL

I believe if you set the seasonal schedule to 10 or 11 days, the holiday will hit on the weekend.

Good point! :P I guess that's why I get called in on emergencies. :P

Thanks! I hadn't even thought of manipulating it so the holiday would be on my day off. :P Tricky tricky! I knew if I came here I'd get the answers I wanted! :P
