How? If I want a website called thesims11.com, then that's my business, not theirs. There is no copyright since sims 11 hasn't been produced yet.

True. Therefore it was half a joke. But I still wonder what they (EA) will do about it. Maybe sites like that are simply not for sale anyway.

If there's a way to make money, it would be unwise not to exploit it. That are the rules of capitalism. Although it would be quite smart not to sell it yet since EA would pay quite a lot for it, I guess.

Then I know what you are about to do I guess. ;)
Let me know if EA has contacted you! Haha!

No serious, I can only guess how that works, although I do agree with your statement.

Such has happened before, folks legitimately purchasing a domain name (for a purpose they thought / considered innocent) and either being "forced" to give the domain name up (usually via legal channels, i.e., proof of historical intellectual property / financial interests associated with the "name" or "domain," or outright threat of litigation).

"Cyber-squatting" still takes place, of course, and money's still to be made by registering domain names willy-nilly. But with a life-cycle of 4 to 7 years, I'm not sure EA'll be around to worry about the "The Sims10" domain name.

Heck, I'm not sure I'll be around.  ;)

Actually, it quite literally is their business. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniform_Domain-Name_Dispute-Resolution_Policy

If they claim the domain name (eg. sims11.com) and gain approval through the UDRP, it almost won't cost them a thing and you won't get a single simolean. If it can't be settled through UDRP it will be decided in a trial and I'm sure EA's team of lawyers can swing the case over to their side quite swiftly.

Anyway, this is off-topic and serves no purpose for further conversation.

These are not the SimBots you're looking for, move along.

I think EA has already officially announced that The Sims 4 is in development.  Now, if we can assume history will repeat itself, there seems to be about 5 years in between games.  Therefore, I think The Sims 4 will be released sometime in 2014.

Anyone care to speculate what it will be like?  :)  I have a few ideas for things I'd like to see:

- Create-an-Animation tool:  allows you to script custom animations for your Sims.  This will also allow you to make custom objects and then create the animations that will go with those objects.  This could be extremely complex, but would allow for amazing customization.

- Vehicles/traffic that are actually functional (e.g. so it will be possible for cars to collide with each other, etc).

- "Ambitions" style professions should be built into the main game, not a separate expansion.  "Rabbit holes" could still be used for jobs that aren't that interesting (e.g. office work).

- Use of Nvidia PhysX for modelling things like the Sims' clothing (imagine clothes that actually moved realistically and separate from the Sims' bodies!  That would look amazing).

- It will probably never happen, but I'd like to see more realistic, real life challenges in the game (e.g. diseases, disabilities, crime, poverty, addictions, etc).   They will probably not go this route to maintain the "teen" audience appeal, but adding stuff like that could really take The Sims to a whole new level.

- Weather and seasons should be part of the main game, not an expansion.

This is all just speculation, EA has not released any details of what the game will be like.

Anyway, these are just my ideas!  Let's hear what you'd like to see!

We don't even need a topic for what we want to see in Sims 4 because there's already a general topic for that conversation.
