Your story is fun and enjoyable to read. My applause for the author and I also didn’t explore Midnight Hollow so much, so I could get many information from reading yours.

Oh, just want to drop by and say hello. You did a great job ;)

After Grim disappears again, I pick up Athletics in his mausoleum. It's a bit of a dark place, but it works well enough. And no paparazzi dares enter, so I can work out without getting disturbed by their insane rambling.

At least I manage to reach the end of my sculpting skill on Wednesday... My first topiary is also my very first Masterpiece. I decide to keep the piece for the eventual mansion. I'm sure there will be enough room for it over there. I have become a chiselmeister! This should help my sculpting output to increase drastically.

And my sink breaks again. Thankfully, I can manage those repairs without calling a repairman every time. A couple of hours later... the sink in the bathroom follows suit. My horrid plumbing has now become a joke between Hyun-Moon and me. My best friend in Midnight Hollow always asks about it first thing when we meet.

Instead of fishing, which Mother tells me will be rather hard through ice, I take up Logic. I'm curious where the visitor a week ago came from, so I'm searching the skies for a sign of her ship. I move back inside as soon as the cold gets to me. My attempts at finding at least one potion all meet with failure this week, but that doesn't stop me from trying.

Hyun-Moon seems to be quite the party animal... he invites me to another party for Snowflake Day. I meet enough people there to get the Personable challenge for my Charisma-skill, though everyone is rather sleepy this time. At 18.00 it's more of a yawn-fest than a party... so Hyun decides to thank all of us for coming and end the event.

And another party on the day after... and even though none of us really knows which guitar string to touch, we jam the night away together.

Gabriel wants to go skinny dipping. While it's snowing. Good thinking.
I wonder whether the characteristics of the door's Grim depend on the world as well... I remember Redemption's Grim was childish, which this one isn't. Even though Gabriel can't move anyone in, he can build a door of Life and Death for Grim in the eventual mansion.
I have already found one problem with Midnight Hollow: every time I want to take screenshots, there's at least one tree branch in the way .. I've had to settle for a 'not so great' view at times because of this.

While playing yesterday, I've gotten the idea for Gabriel's next challenge. Midnight Hollow was imperative for that new idea, really!

Where "The Long Way Home" showed him as a learnaholic and builder, "To Raise The Devil" gives him child raising skills.

For the third story, he will need all of that... and then some. I'm going to put the specifics of the challenge on paper, so I will have them thought out properly by the time I end this thread. I'm sure I will need a lot more preparation than I did for this thread <.<.

I'm now really glad I didn't start the world-building thread yet, as this challenge will make the new world drastically different...

Oh, oh, oh! I'm so excited when I saw Nadia and Hyun-Moon! I hope that I could see them more. I have my little project as well in Midnight Hollow involves townies Genetic, but I also excited to see other who takes this place as the story and the place for the challenge. Best wishes for your project!

Hyun-Moon will definitely appear more... I like him so much I want Gabriel to gather his DNA for later use <.<. And Nadia often hangs out in the same places and on the same parties, so Gabriel is bound to meet her more too.

Merry Christmas and happy new year, everyone :). These days it seems my Sims-time in a week is even more threatened! But well, everything will revert to normal once it's truly 2014 I believe.

I have managed to finish changing Gabriel's HQ for his third challenge though. I think he'll like to hear he won't need to start on an empty lot... or a starter home next time ;).

My agent really likes to see me run, I think. Again, he has asked me for four hours of Work-out. However, I have better things on my mind.

I start the new week - and spring - upgrading the rest of my equipment to cut down on my cleaning time. My celebrity status also helps with that, as the manufacturers have send me a dishwasher! I remember from my time with Mariska that I'd better call a repairman if that thing ever breaks down though, as I'd rather not be electrocuted!

I name my first discovery in the sky after my little brother Azaziel, because he's always been so supportive of my Sim challenges.

The second one I name Lucifer, hoping he'll realize I really want him to succeed at this. Aside from that, I nearly got hit by lightning while looking for it, so it seems a rather obvious choice... If my telescope had been a bit more to the right, Grim may have visited my lot instead of the other way around! There are a lot of shooting stars in the skies, but I don't think I've managed to identify the strange visitor's home.

I'm hoping to add several more later on, but for now, the zombies are out again, which means I'm moving inside. (Other discoveries later on in the week: Raphael - Zauriel - Michael - Uriel - Samael - Sandolphon)

Considering the sink in the bathroom broke down yet again, this isn't really a problem. First I really want to level my painting again though. The sink can wait.

I finally meet one of my right door neighbours... who immediately tells me she's not looking for any romantic interests. Only after I assure her that I don't have any intentions in that direction myself, we manage to become friends. It's always nice to know a doctor... As the members of her household come home, I notice quite a few of Hyun's celebrity friends. Not a single one of them spares me a glance though, so I concentrate my efforts on befriending Samantha.

It's strange though. She doesn't want to get involved, but... she keeps sending me gifts and love letters!

Because I really don't want to spend any simoleons on repairmen, I decide to make my dishwasher unbreakable before I go to bed. So far, it hasn't failed me, but I realize it's only a matter of time. Of course, it will break down sooner if I stop doing my dishes in the bathroom sink...

And Hyun-Moon proves his party animal-status once again! On Love Day, he invites me to yet another of his parties. They have become a near-necessity for any and all celebrities, so I break off my sleep to join him. Being careful not to insult my inappropriate friend Todd (who just graduated from college), I nearly get into a fight with one of Hyun's other guests! I wonder whether he knows one of his 'friends' is decidedly evil? Ah well. At least I'm getting better at making friends - or at least at avoiding actual fights.

The moment I get home from the party... Hyun calls, asking if I want to hang out with him. I blink and refuse. After all, I just spend most of my day at his place!

One day later, Jane Doe invites me over for a party at her place... One of the people I've met while hanging out with Hyun, she obviously wants part of the party scene in Midnight Hollow. I... kind of spend all of the time I am at her place with the children of the house: Jennifer and James. I never thought I'd miss little ones that much. This time at least I don't need to sneak time of my skilling to have some fun with the wee ones. I did make two new friends at this party though!

I did change my formal wear this time, as it was getting really old. Maybe I should start doing that before each party...

Then, one night, outside my door, a Zombie turns a paparazzi into a Zombie. I don't really know which one's worse, but... according to Grim, his Crypt Monster likes both equally. I guess it will feed well tonight, as it's another zombie night.

Commentary
This week he throws one wish after another to paint, but he seems to have lost interest in sculpting for a while. He is keeping all of those paintings, so he'll be able to finish the painter career quickly later on.
He also wants to find five stars... but the weather seems to hate him doing this. Every time he starts searching the skies, it starts to pour/snow/hail or storm.
Every time he eats, he does the dishes in the sink, forgetting about the dishwasher.
After he returns home from Jane Doe's party, I notice Jane Doe is actually stuck in front of his house... which is probably the reason she wasn't around at her own party. I reset her, to make sure she doesn't die.
I finally finished adding my complete collection of male Young Adult clothing to my database... and the game file.

Re: To Raise The Devil (13) Week 5: If you don't fit the town...
« Reply #53 on: December 28, 2013, 04:31:53 AM »
Summer has finally arrived to Midnight Hollow. I hope this means we'll be getting a day without bad weather for once. I wonder how anyone can stand living here. It's not just a dark place, but I've never encountered so much bad weather either. Maybe this is more normal to Sims everywhere, but I find it damages my happiness.

Grim calls me on Sunday, to warn me against some of my friends. He tells me not to let Samantha or Todd too close to my throat, as they both may bite me. I assure him I have things under control. I don't intend to become a vampire... or a werewolf. The town is a good enough choice for the supernatural inhabitants I suppose, as.... there's just not enough sunlight around to mess up even a vampire's pale skin. I wonder why Grim used a regular phone for this message though. He may as well have send me his warning by telepathy. Of course, I haven't heard from anyone that way in some time. Maybe it's harder to access a Sim's mind.

I finally manage to find the ingredients for my first two potions this week, without needing an immediate shower. I know it's only two of many, but it makes me feel a lot better about myself. I feel like I'm finally getting somewhere.

Of course, now that I've learned a potion, I really need to learn another skill. I would very much learn to write again... so I can improve the quality of this commentary. But I don't have the room or the simoleons to add a desk and computer... and there doesn't seem to be a computer at the library in town either. So... there is one more place I can check... That's right. Grim's.

Grim is more than happy to see me again in person, as it has been several days. With all those parties going on, I haven't had a lot of time aside from my actual tasks. "Of course you can use my computer, Gabriel! There's no need to ask! My home is your home, as it has always been. Anything to help you get ahead and manage this impossible task you've taken on."

And so, after he leaves me in a puff of smoke, I start writing my first book: "Angels and Demons", a non-fiction, though most people will probably have a hard time believing that. With Vivaldi's Summer as background music, interspersed with the loud clashing of the thunder outside, I write one page after another... until my current stalker messes up and becomes food for the Crypt Monster.

Bye, Alvin. It was nice knowing you...

I repair Grim's sink again, after doing my dishes here... and finish my plumber challenge. Since the computer also broke down, I need to repair that too before leaving for home. I can hardly leave Grim's place after breaking everything down. I spend some time watching TV before I return home.

While I was away, my brothers have planted new grass and re-panelled my house! It looks even more out of place now... but I plan to change the rest of Midnight Hollow to a brighter environment to live in. Even though I started here thinking I would get used to the dreariness and the cold, I find I cannot. By changing my house further, my brethren have shown me the way: if I cannot change to fit this town, the town will have to change to fit me.
I suppose, in a way, it is suitable. You can't expect the appearance of an angel to go by without changing the entire town, can you? When I ask Grim, he completely agrees. Any town that has an angel, especially an archangel like me, living in it for more than a couple of days, should show the marks of being so blessed.

I felt it was time to give my agent what he's been asking for quite a while... so, I went off to the gym this time. I met quite a few extra celebrities inside and made some new friends. Sometimes I feel as if Midnight Hollow only consists of famous Sims. Even one of my current stalker paparazzi is a celebrity! She'd better be careful about following me to Grim's.

I've gotten a reward for my sculpting efforts! When I go home after the celebration, zombies are coming out of the ground everywhere around the city hall. I can start sculpting for free now... which is why I start a wooden sculpture for a change. I only need one more ice one before they stop melting.

I change my fireproof stove into a stove with improved meal quality and... make my door more Grim-attracting.

lol. I think one of Gabriel's next careers will have to be the architect one. I've never maxed that one before, but it suits his goal of 'brightening' the town. Of course, he'll leave his mark on every house/property he buys as well. When he leaves his current home behind, it will be suitable for new starters... but in a brighter Midnight Hollow. And... it will have unbreakable/self-cleaning plumbing. The shower already is done, as it broke down the moment he came home from Grim's.
The reason he went to the gym is that he wanted to meet someone new... and most of Grim's usual visitors, he already knows.

Nice list of names of Angel, I know them all ;D  Zombies always annoying especially when they ruined our plants and when it combines with Celebrity status it’s even worse. It always nice to see Unicorn Sculpture! What did you meant by making door Grim attracting  ???

« Reply #56 on: January 01, 2014, 09:37:36 AM »

And again, the week starts with a telephone call from my agent. Guess what? He wants me to work out for another 4 hours. Of course, that will get my Athletics up again, but, quite frankly, I'm not too bothered with that particular skill. I'd prefer to up my cooking and handiness. And I'm still looking for the planet. I haven't seen any more aliens, so I'm getting desperate to find a trace of their existence. I know they exist... after all, I got abducted several times during my previous stay in Sim world. Right now though, I'm starting to worry what has happened with them.

Even so, I start jogging towards Grim's Manor again, hoping to upgrade some of his crappy plumbing.

Of course, after talking to Grim, I have to play with his dog, Bear for a bit too.

And then I'm off to attend yet another party, this time thrown by Jason Buillard. I... don't even remember where I met this bloke... but it's the usual suspects again: Nadia Cho, Marina Rosa Vasquez, Hyun (who... has turned mermaid!), Young Jae Sung, and evil Roderick Synapse. Todd doesn't seem to be invited this time around, though.
"How does someone with a  medicine/science degree end up in the music industry anyway?"

While checking the skies again, I see a meteor hit Midnight Hollow. Of course, I immediately race to pick it up. Since it fell right next to the police station, I decide to become a partner to law enforcement from the money I gain by selling the rare rock... and with a little bit extra, I actually BUY the place. Yes, I now own the military and law enforcement of Midnight Hollow. You think the Sims here will be grateful I'm not corrupt?

Because my new property is close to the consignment store, I stop by to sell all of my recent non-ice sculptures, after touring MY military base. Of course, the police station's trees, shrubs and flowers are blessed  before I leave... as is the grass. After a bit of a brightening of all the items around the place, it looks... a bit better, though not by far. Too bad I can't touch the actual building.

Some new plumbing in my own house, which, according to Grim, teaches me yet another skill, makes me feel much cleaner than the freezing cold shower.

I bought myself a washing machine, just so I can upgrade the thing... which increases my handiness. By the time I finish, Grim calls me with grim news indeed: Marina Rosa Vasquez has passed on... and Hyun-Moon is now a vampire! In a way that last part doesn't worry me as much as it should. It means he'll live longer, after all. Still, now that I have a bit of cash, I'm thinking of going to college for my science skill. I really would like to save the DNA of my friends for the future, which only works with the science station. Now that Marina is dead, I finally truly realize my time here will see a lot of the inhabitants of Midnight Hollow grow old... and eventually die. I'm making so many friends here.

Unlike my previous college adventures, I will most likely have to stay in a fraternity... which worries me a bit. We'll see what happens though. Considering I get extra credits for the business, technology and fine arts degrees, I think I will try for business... even though I'm really going there to learn Science. I enter for 12 credits and 2 terms, meaning I should have plenty of time to concentrate on science. I'm not exactly trying to get a degree, but I will have to finish it on a later date.
With a little luck, the weather at the campus will be better...

It seems I actually have enough cash to rent one of the places around college. I think I still prefer some privacy while studying... so I check out the different possibilities. The most expensive I can rent doesn't look very promising for the future of our college life. I know already that I want Lucifer to come here later on, so I need a building that I can prepare for his presence later on.

Last time, we rented off the Dedham Domicile every time, so... I prefer another one this time around. In the end, I decide to go for the Regal Ranch. Hopefully, I'll be able to start a garden over here, and there's enough place at the ranch. For now, I'm leaving the building as is. There's a lot more room here than I have back home, so this may be a nice place to have some of the bigger skill stuff...

I move straight to the Student Union Building... and after meeting a couple of other students, I go for my real goal in attending the school: science!
Of course, this means I'm going up in the ranks of the nerds as well.

I did upgrade my bed though, as I actually have room for a two-person one at the Ranch. With a bit of influence from Mother, I'm having the most wonderful dream.

As soon as I get up, I have breakfast... and prepare my new not-so-routine machine to teleport everywhere. It will make jumping around college so much easier, as I remember from my previous time. It gets me ready for my first class and teleports me straight to the right building, properly on time. Before I arrive however, I already get my first party invitation. But the first teacher already gives us an assignment for extra credit... which I cannot ignore.

The next day, my upgrade of the machine fails... so I have to repair the thing before going to the next class. The lecture hasn't even started yet... and half of the students is already fast asleep. One of my fellow students is obviously a vampire, as I can feel his or her presence. I think it's the one sitting next to me, really.

When everyone runs home - or to the closest party - I work on my science goal again. I really should go and find something to experiment on, but for now, I'm just happy levelling the skill. Of course, I don't forget about my logic training either. I only go home once the building closes for the night.
Next time I go to the student building, I'm going to use the samples my science skill has given me.

And.... I just got a call from my agent. Over here. Guess what he wants?

On Thursday, I finally manage to upgrade my not-so-routine machine. I also start delivering presentations a full hour before the class really starts... After class, I plant the groceries I picked up on the way to the library. I have enough plants to learn gardening, so I instantly continue with the seeds I receive.

I pass the exam with flying colours, though... I manage to arrive nearly an hour late,. My garden is already taking more time than I had thought... and my bath has broken down.

Saturday, I repair the broken tub and take care of that part of the garden I didn't have the time for yesterday. Once I get back inside, I notice my brethren decided to replace my bath tub with one of those futuristic quick cleaning things. Did they really have to wait until AFTER I repaired that? Still, I'm happy enough with this, as it's decidedly faster... and I feel so much cleaner after.

After all tasks that I couldn't complete during the week are done, I can finally concentrate on my science! So, I spend the rest of the day in the Student building, researching.

Re: To Raise The Devil (16): University week 2
« Reply #58 on: January 08, 2014, 05:29:39 AM »

On Sunday, my agent deems it necessary for me to do some book signing... while the trees are slowly losing their leaves. Autumn has come to university and I worry about my budding garden. With the proceeds of the book signing, I buy my own science station, so I don't have to leave to continue my research.

After a night of dreaming about the other students, I suddenly have enough friendships for my Super Friendly Charisma challenge! It's strange to wake up and find you can befriend people during sleep, but I suppose this is just part of a Sim's life I hadn't experienced yet. Sadly it doesn't diminish my burning need for Sim contact.

I also found out I was right about my garden... all of my plants have gone dormant. Even though I have bought a planter bowl this week-end, I hesitate to get more. Taking care of one plant may be enough for now, because I don't really want to be late for any more classes. I'm starting to feel a bit self-conscious lately... I've been getting more and more presents and invites for dates by other males on campus. They don't seem to take my 'no' as easily as the ladies back in Midnight Hollow. They keep pressing me, not believing my refusal is for real.

After a good night of dreaming about my career, I feel ready to take on anything on the day of my final exams. I'm hoping this may help my deplorable grade, but truth to tell, my degree isn't that important. Still, I prepare by practising my guitar skills, just to make sure I'm happy enough to actually work on the exam.

The rest of the morning, I spend on analysing my inventory, hoping to get my science skill up even more before I need to go home.

My final exams of the semester was a complete bust. Thankfully, this degree isn't that important to me yet. I will have to return for another term anyway.

I pack up my science station and my Not-so-routine machine for the journey home, as I would like to use both back in Midnight Hollow. After a bit of pondering, I also send my dream pod along. I'll need to find room to place all of it, of course, but all of those items are quite helpful as I have found out over here.

In the end, I still have a B on my report card, which isn't too bad for that last fail, but I didn't come here for the business degree. Maybe I should have taken the science track... that way, I wouldn't have needed to buy the science station. I finish my last day on campus trying to upgrade some of the equipment in my university home... achieving my second maxed out skill in the process.

I don't know where I earned this kind of ride... but when I go towards the last party on campus for this term - and the only one I have attended, this limousine picks me up!

Commentary
Gabriel missed classes twice this week, though he was in the proper location on time both times.
And... I kind of forgot the damage the zombies could do to his new garden, but it survived a full moon without a single issue.
This time, Gabriel will need another house to stay in next time though... The ranch wasn't all I had hoped for and so... Lucifer emptied out the place as soon as Gabriel left it.
The dreaming on the last day didn't help at all... because the effect wore off before the actual exam started.

Of course, the limousine is because of his four celebrity stars ;)

There will be more updates coming soon, as I've been playing without posting for a bit. I was trying to get his most difficult requirement out of the way... So, yes, in my game, a nooboo has joined Gabriel :).

Re: To Raise The Devil (17): Returning home
« Reply #59 on: January 08, 2014, 05:45:41 AM »

My return home... is anti-climactic to say the least. The weather's still as dreary and wet... and I get an unwanted guest while trying to sleep off my university fatigue. Thanks to the newly installed burglar alarm, she leaves empty-handed, but... I no longer feel safe in my own home.

Since I don't have the room for my new furniture any way, I sell off the things I've received from companies all over town and university, as well as unwanted love-presents, pack up all of the things I would need in the near future... and look about for a new home.

I leave this place ready for another newcomer to Midnight Hollow, with all plumbing self-cleaning and most of it unbreakable, an updated bell, healthy plants... and a much brighter overall look as when I got here. I know I will need a lot of simoleons to build the manor where I will have to raise Lucifer, but I will need a lot more time before I'm ready for that, I realize that now. Even though I have maxed out two skills, I'm nowhere near the other requirements. A bigger home, with enough space for everything, will help towards gaining that kind of cash more than staying in this small house, I'm sure.

After placing my furniture in the new house... and using my angelic powers to remove all curses, my new place looks a lot brighter already. I had to sell a book case and a couch to make room, but at least it has the room I need. However, there's no dishwasher... or washing machine. I'll have to get used to living without again. The stairs in front resist my every attempt at making them brighter... and even an archangel has to give in sometimes. If I need to, I will be able to build a fenced in garden on the grounds, but I think I'll wait until spring comes around again..

While trying to upgrade the microwave, I get singed. Even my high level in handiness doesn't help with that. For a moment, I want to sell the dratted thing, but I don't. After all, this is an appliance I haven't upgraded so far... So... I try and try again, after cleaning myself up. I also notice when I go upstairs, that my non-routine machine is actually broken down. I know from experience that this is a dangerous one to fix, so I call in a repair man.

After lunch, the first party since my return , thrown by my old friend Todd Landgraab, is waiting for my attendance. Since I have missed all of my friends here at Midnight Hollow, I readily accept. I see the astonished faces as I arrive in my limo.

Commentary
The first house, with upgraded appliances, nice bed, fridge and stove only costs 13.512 furnished when Gabriel leaves it behind, so he really did leave it ready for a single starter. He made the bed before leaving, but the clothesline was struck by lightning and burned to the ground right before he left... I simply removed it instead of replacing it with a new one.
The limo, of course, comes from his four celebrity stars. I'm quite aware of that ;).
The railings on the stair case can't be designed, which is a problem I've encountered before. Before Gabriel leaves, I'll try if replacing the stairs works (which it usually does.)
