Lol, not really, I just let the game choose. But I think it's nice so I see no reason to change it.

Nils moved into a small house close to campus, he was here to study after all and didn't need the distraction of a dorm.



He spent his first day doing some research and calling his mother to tell her everything was all right.



Then he went to the Quad to play some chess and socialize.



He visited the student union and took the time to read his schedule - that was a lot of classes! But he wanted to get everything done in one go, he was eager to go back and start his life at home.



He met some interesting people, but no one really made him more interested in love than studying.



He also thought he'd get a lot of exercise by the time this trip was done, because he was always running around.



He spent some time at different parties and often zipped through the night in his new ride.



He tried studying with others at the library, but he never seemed to get his points across.



So his best work was done in his home wearing the comfiest kitten slippers you can imagine.



With an A  in Science and Medicine, a new diploma and the family oriented trait he was ready to head home again. 



With his new pal of course...

While Nils was away at Uni Britta had grown up, and even gave him a beating at chess! What was the world coming to?



Eunice Tanner, youngest daughter of original townie Aya Tanner, has been living as werewolf with a stuck moodlet for most of the game. She was part of my pollination project while Nils was in his teen years, but like all the other women in town she gave birth to a son, so Nils decides he will use science to solve the problem of who he's going to marry eventually. Scanning for DNA, check!



Meet Eunice Jr. and no, he's not marrying his cloned almost child because I find that somewhat creepy - he'll marry her daughter (not that that isn't any less creepy come to think about it....)



Talking about creepy, if you see a suspicious baby blue van with tinted windows driving around Lucky Palms at night, it's not a serial killer, it is just the new PI in town.



He's a rather snappy dresser if I do say so.



And certain activities, like going through peoples mail, is best done under the cover of night.



When there is no more shady business to do until people wake up Nils heads to his secret lab a.k.a. the garage where he conducts his experiments. Here he's analyzing rocks and fish (I didn't know analyzing fish would raise angling skill?! Talk about building two skills at the same time).



In the house Ni'ele has fleas, and has to take a bath - yuck!



Nils completes his first case when a lady asks him to go Digging for Dirt.



And Eunice the original's son Quintin asks him to do something about a toothbrush.



Three cases rush by and soon Nils is on his way to collect his first career reward.



He also completes the Free Range Scientist skill challenge and can start working on experiments more.



So far he's managed to create two plasma bugs that Roxy loves watching. (I didn't even know cats can raise fun from watching beetles! Shows how little I play pets).



The family has given Nils a case of their own - the case of the missing lap top - one day it was there, the next it was not.

After a week I glimpse it by the side of the road almost all the way across town. How it ended up there I don't remember. Maybe someone got out of their car and left it there? We let sit by the side of the road to see if someone shows up to use it. No one seems to care about it at all.



Eunice Jr ages up to a child early and Britta gets someone to play with and cash in some of her wishes.

Erik: Real girls are created out of rainbows and candyfloss Britta, Eunice Jr on the other hand was made in your brothers garage.
Britta: Eeew, that is so gross dad! Why do you let Nils do things like that!



Eileen ages up to elder and she wears her days with grace. I think she is even prettier as an elder than she was as an adult or YA.



Britta becomes a teen and gets her aunt Andrea's dress (Andrea and Majken both passed away at this point) so you could say it was an inheritance.



While Nils and Erik bond over chess (no more berating of ignorance now that I have given them both the family oriented trait as an extra - thank you so much for that tip Turoskel!)



The girls hang with the cats in front of the TV.



I think Britta is a simply stunning sim and a nice blend of her parents.

Erik and Eileen are still very much in love.



Nils has started to wear this outfit when working, it's got a nice 70's vibe to go with the hair and the name of their house



He also went snooping for clues the first time and got promoted to level 6 his career, his chess playing is also helping.



Erik ages up to an elder, and I wait for him to wish for retirement but it does not happen. Will he be like his mother, working till he draws his last breath?



Being a PI forces you to meet with shady and scary looking characters in the dark - luckily this one was nice and even gave him some simoleons for his trouble.



Britta goes to prom and gets crowned Prom Queen, but she spends most of the night getting in scrapes and is even caught by the principal destroying some backdrops...not good.



Nils feels confident enough in logic that he challenges Erik's boss to his first tournament game, and wins!



A surprise guest at the party was the poor person Susan once upon a time turned into a simbot.



Since Susan is no longer with us Eileen decides it is safe to reverse the curse and gets a new friend in the bargain.



Eunice Jr has given birth to a girl called Lollo and hands her over to the family with a happy smile she's off to new adventures.

Lollo's father is Johnathan Hudson, son of original townie Ariel Hudson (Erik's boss), who was once involved with Erik's sister Andrea. He's been stuck as a YA ever since Susan cursed and cured him back in the day.



Erik's only sister still alive and kicking is Lillian (who the family has been growing apart from since she's not allowed to come to the parties due to her strange influence over the cats). Nils had a chess game against her in the park, where the family added a few chess tables when upgrading it.

Inviting sims to a community lot is a great trick if they seem reluctant to visit you at home (or as Lillian, you don't want them in your home for some reason).



Lollo is rapidly aging and I think she is a blond like her mother, but so far we only have her eyebrows to go on. Erik is on toddler duty and he seems to enjoy it. I have canceled a lot of baby wishes for Erik and Eileen because I didn't feel like raising a large brood so close to the last, but so this is the closest they will get a third child. Call her an honorary daughter.



If you are wondering where aliens do their shopping, the Bot Emporium is a popular spot.



Nils forth case was a bust when the client died just as he was going to give the final report.



With so many things going on the family decides one of the cats will have to find a new home, and Roxy leaves us. She has been a nice and friendly part of the family but she is a lot needier than Ni'ele and her social bar falls much faster so it was time to realize this family just couldn't give her what she needs.



The Sandy Place is where a Nils spends a lot of his time, because Mats and his family the Killian's hang out there a lot, and they are loyal customers of Nils PI service.



Mats son, Myron is the read head we spot in the right corner.



Britta and Ni'ele spend a lot of quality time to make up for Roxy having to leave.



Britta also learns to drive, this time Eileen does the honors, Britta is all done in an afternoon. Poor Nils, he should have asked his mother.



Some days after prom I realize Britta has a romantic interest, strange since I never got a pop-up for it. She asks him over during a party to break up, because she already has her eyes on someone else.



At the same party Lillian shows up, probably embolded by her recent chess game with Nils and I go into a panic when I try to find where Ni'ele is. Luckily she is out hunting for beetles for Nils experiments so she is safe. I don't even have to send Lillian home and it is quite nice to have one of the old brood back in the house.



This is the boy Britta has her eyes on, it's Lollo's half brother Quintin Tanner. He's rather handsome.

We have had a lot of ghost music, but I never saw any ghosts. I figured it was a bug until I chanced to peek in on te collections one night, Emelie likes hanging out by the pool on the basement level - what she's up to no one knows.



But some nights they do come in the house to relax and work on their muscle tone.



When they are not haunting random things, this time it is Sylvester and the moodlet manager. This is the collection by the way, Erik did potions (I will choose 4 to display later) and Nils is collecting plasma bugs. And the career items of course.



During a stakeout Nils spotted a young lady didn't seem dressed for the season (it's currently winter) suspects she might be insane.



Lollo aged up to child and still has no hair.



Erik and Eileen spend a lot of time making out in the livingroom, when Erik is not tutoring Lollo and Eileen is not writing on her stories of course. Their most frequent wish is to woho with each other, and who am I to stand in the way of true love?




Nils and Britta had a birthday, and their parents rolled wishes to see them both married - I think they want grandchildren soon.



Britta is an interesting mix of features but I think she has the Steel lips and even the grey eyes after Agnes. The nose is from her mother though.



The party that ended in tragedy, when one of the guests succumbed to thirst. There have been surprisingly few deaths so far in this file, maybe because a lot of the family friends are long lived supernaturals?



To help Nils with the Chess Master LTW the family spends a lot of time at the big park, where they throw parties to lure reluctant chess opponents. It's a bit cold since it's winter but with some activities that fire the blood the family get by.



Lollo ages up to teen and has her cloned grandmothers hair, I think she favors her mother's side more than her father.



Even dead fish can entertain a cat - the fish bowl has become bugged somehow so no one can clean it - Ni'ele sure is happy about that.



Ever since Erik gained the family oriented trait he's been a joy to be around, when he and Lollo practice driving they are done in no time. Lollo and Erik are very close friends since he's taught her the toddler skills and tutored her both as a teen and an adult, she really is like a child to him.



While I focus more on Nils and his chess games (they have to be monitored way closer than his other work because the opponents are wily and try to get away) the family is left to their own devices more often. The Eileen and Britta take the chance to spend more time with Ni'ele.



Because I start to worry that the elders will pass away soon Britta makes a move with Quintin and asks if he's single. He is.



So she wastes no time and proposes right away. Unfortunately he then has to leave for work, but she's determined to see him later that day.



Despite being the only household member with no nerd rating Eileen is the one always playing video games. She has the cutest expressions when doing so.



Nooo! Erik passes away in the upstairs bathroom, he seems content to just go with Grim as he shows up. No one even has time to walk up the stairs until he is gone. Sadly he never got to see either of his children get married but still raked in over 190,000HP and gets a large tombstone. R.I.P. Erik 52 days.



Eileen is devastated. And after this she doesn't seem to care about anything in the house, unless it is a video game. Why do all my old ladies turn loopy?

With all the sadness of Erik's passing the YA's of the house decided on new looks.

Britta was the first. You really can see the Steel features.



Lollo's favorite color is white, so she got lots and lots of that.



Quintin got some darker stubble to give him a more mature look.



Weird things started happening, like Britta streaking every time they invited someone over (strangest autonomous action ever? At least when it's not at university).



Or Quintin and Eileen having a slap fight outside the garage, Quintin had the grumpy trait and was always asking for a handout - so with some rent collected and his LTW Swimming in Cash (thank you game for making this easy) he had a midlife crisis. Now he is a domestic sim with the neat trait.



Britta and Quintin both share the Loves the Outdoors trait and can often be found playing in the pool.



In fact, it was after a swim one day that they decided to tie the knot. Britta was sad her father could not experience it but they were very happy with the ceremony nonetheless.



Nils has been battling the final rank of the Chess tournament and having to deal with vampires. First it was his fathers old boss Ariel Hudson, then Quintin's half brother Ethan and now this guy!

The worst was all the time spent waiting for them to show up only to leave without having sat down for the game. Grrr.

But after inviting him out to the park a few nights in a row Nils was finally able to max the Chess Master skill challenge. And he still had a few days until he's an elder.



Britta is expecting - she found out just hours before Nils got his last skill challenge so she'll get a nooboo before him.



The very same night Nils got all his requirements he asked Lollo to go out on the town with him.

Lollo hasn't done much other than work on her writing skill since becoming a YA, she wants to become a journalist, and was thrilled to get out of the house.



Lollo: OMG! You don't mean...

Wow Lollo, you actually have green eyes, I thought they were brown. Nice!



Their private ceremony was faithfully photographed and covered by the paparazzi on call and they made a tidy profit from selling their wedding pics to the local paper - Lollo made sure of that in exchange for her getting a job there.

In any dynasty there is downtime when not much happens, in the 4x4 that is between the heir completing his tasks and procreating and the next heir being old enough to begin their work. Not to bad considering the madness that is the final heirs adult years in an ID.

I am loving the shorter time span and liberal moving in/out policy. I'm entertaining myself by having their relatives over to try for baby so my heir will have lots of relatives

I have also created a simple family tree, since the confusion of who's related to who started to mess with my own head. You can find it in the first post if you want to check it out. It might not always be up to date with living/dead but the relationships are there.

On a fun note I have two pyromaniacs in the house, Lollo and her half brother Quintin, I think they get it from their father since that is the parent they share. I'm thinking of saving them to a separate household and share if someone wants to play with them. I've never had a pyromaniac before and they have some nice powers such as transmorgification of items in the inventory and setting fire to random things (they can also extinguish their own fire) so don't tell them to do that without supervision!

Erik misses his wife, and sometimes spends the mornings hanging out with her in the living room.

Erik: I can't wait for you to come with me my love.
Eileen: It will be soon. I long for you when you are not here.



Lollo finally found out she was pregnant. She is super excited.



It's now 11 am and Erik is still going at it - the shower is occupied, try another time buddy!



Eileen gets the stir crazy moodlet and I decide to give her some fun times at the cinema.

Eileen: What! Is that Lo...?

Sadly, the shock was to much for her poor heart and Grim saw his chance.



She was happy to go, because it meant she could spend more time with her Erik. R.I.P. Eileen 57 days.



Ironically a paparazzi choose almost the exact time to die at our porch, and was forced to wait around for Grim while everyone got upset and distracted.

Britta: Ow! It hurts!



When Grim finally arrived he hung around to take photos of the mourners (my poor family, just because they are celebrities they get no privacy even from Grim).



Maybe Grim felt bad because just before he left he went upstairs to clean up the mess left by a leaking faucet.



Britta delivered a sweet girl named Inga, she's insane so we'll see how she'll fit into this house as she grows up.



Grim came for Ni'ele the next day. She had a happy life and maxed the hunting skill when searching for beetles Nils used in his science experiments. She also bought the beloved pet LTR as her elder years were spent mostly with humans. R.I.P. Ni'ele 31 days.



Since this is the chapter of birth and death, we have another addition to the household. Out next heir has arrived and her name is Elna. She is a friendly genius.



The madness continued, for Ingas toddler birthday the family threw a big bash and Quintin decided to streak for the entirety of it! Even when holding his baby girl - ew, put some clothes on man! Luckily, Inga was so distracted by all the fairies that came to the party she didn't notice, which is good otherwise she might be scared for life.



Inga is a blond blue eyed girl who, I think, takes mostly after her father.



Since only Erik holds down a job, and his hours are flexible, the household are awake at all hours and Britta takes the time to introduce Elna to Sylvester when he comes out for some TV time. There is always a ghost somewhere on the lot making mischief.  Just the other night Emelie was out gossiping with the paparazzi for hours - at least paparazzi are good for something...



Britta want's a better relationship with her daughter so she tries to teach her some skills, since she isn't family oriented it takes time.



Now Elna becomes a toddler and is a blond just like her mom, uncle and cousin - the blonds are taking over the house! She has her mother's dark green eyes. We'll see more as she ages but as for now I think she looks very much like her mothers side of the family.



The Tanner siblings take over the teaching in the house, while Nils is matchmaking with his cousins and Britta works on her LTW.

Grim has been rather helpful so far, and I have kind of resigned myself to his presence since we are playing on medium lifespan. It helps that there is always nooboos to take the mind of the gloom.

It was decided that the girls should have their birthday on the same day since Elna was done with her skills at the same time as Inga. Inga got to the cake first.



And then it was Elna's turn.



In the middle of eating cake Britta got a funny feeling.

Britta: Oh no! I'm pregnant again, how will I ever get my LTW done in time?!

Time for what? We don't know yet...



The two cousins look very different, the only feature they have in common is the blond hair. I think Inga got both her mothers wide head and her skin tone, where Elna deffinately has her fathers mouth and her mothers facial structure.



Just a few levels of guitar left to go, it's a good thing that Britta enjoys playing even when pregnant.



Elna is determined to finish her requirements earlier than her dad, so she starts stargazing as soon as she's able.



Her mother also buys her a new pet - no more cats it's way to sad when they die.



And from her father she gets a really cool hover thing. Inga is not impressed, she is too busy fishing in their new pond.



When Elna goes to sleep at night she has the strangest and most vivid dreams, sometimes they even change how she feels in the morning!



We were all surprised when Britta's nooboo turned out to be two nooboos. Nils and Lollo will have to settle for just one child, because now we have a full house.



This is Maj, she will probably look a lot like her mother, only blond.



And this is Kent, as you can see he is a red haired charmer. It's nice to see that the hair can survive this long.



Inga became a beautiful teen and even though she is insane she never wears clothes that look out of context.



Elna had a rougher time entering teen hood. She had an unfortunate line between her head and the rest of her body so she was allowed an early makeover.



There, much better.

Inga and her dad went driving, even if she is insane she knows when to pretend not to be!



Britta had her adult bithday and got a new hairdoo, I think it makes her look like a country singer - wonder why?



I had planned for Elna to learn to drive in the motive mobile, but for some reason both her and Nils dropped the interaction every time even if the question had been accepted. I finally figured out that having set the windcarver as Elna's mode of transportation was interfering with the question, and as soon as I removed it out of her inventory off they were - in the all important investigators car!

Watcher: Not a scratch on that car! I need - I mean, we need it!
Elna: Dad, do you sometimes feel as if there is someone trying to talk to you - but you don't here what they are saying?
Nils: All the time, and it never goes away.

Thankfully the car was safely returned to its basement parking lot when they were done.



Elna was a normal teen, she went to the Observatory to learn about space travel, and the police brought her home because the class ran late...they let her off the hook.



Then she saw a meteor falling and hurried off to pick it up...



...she turned around halfway home to run back to the scene of the crime. The police officer was not amused.

Officer: So, we meet again delinquent.
Elna: Just drive.



Poor Elna I should have given her the rebellious trait and saved her her troubles.

I have also never had such an amorous ghost before, I guess Erik and Eileen were made for each other, which is why I didn't feel so sad when Grim came for her. Because it meant she got to spend more time with Erik

I'm so far ahead in game compared to the story - I've simply have had way to much fun playing to get any updating done But, I'm about to do some cleaning so I'll do some quick updates to cheer me up.

On the day of Nils elder birthday his mother came inside to offer him a hug (mostly Eileen spends her time on the trampoline). They then promptly ruined the sweet moment by arguing - I guess parents never get to old to get on your nerves.



Nils seemed to take elderhood in stride and the party was a success too.



Poor Elna has been plagued by alien abductions ever since she picked up that meteorite. That she spends most nights looking through the telescope is not helping. Maybe she'll have to wait till she is old enough to stay out all night and stargaze at the observatory - then the aliens won't get her.



Ever since Nils became an elder he's in wish fulfilling mode, no wish is to small for him to accept.



The twins spend a lot of time at the blocktable that I have placed on the front porch. That forces the paparazzi to stand on the ground at least during the day and lowers the amount of times they ring the doorbell.



Time for the twins to age up. Kent looks a lot like Emelie, and Maj like her sister at her age.




Elna and Inga had prom where they both developed romantic interests with former paperboys - not gonna happen! Elna was the prom  Queen once she bribed her classmates (good thing the family is rich) and Inga got into two fights.



The twins have their mothers artistic bent. Quintin was bored at home once the twins aged up so I gave him a job in the education career, hopefully he and Britta will have some money when they eventually move out.



Speaking of Britta, she finally competed her LTW to be a master of the arts.



The next day when she was doing her morning workout she and Nils decided it was time for her to move out and have a life of her own.



She and the twins drove off for new adventures, or at least a new house. Inga stayed with the family, she didn't want to leave her bestie and I didn't want a completely empty house.



The trampoline is a great way to keep your paparazzi occupied.



The only problem is that in summer exposure to the sun can be fatal.



Nils has a full time job keeping Grim away. He's still employed as a P.I. but never works other than some occasional hacking and never rolls that retirement wish. Maybe it's a family trait? And he's not even a workaholic.



At night the observatory really looks pretty in Lucky Palms.



Inga and Elna both have to study hard to get an A, it seems like I have become lax this time around. Just a few days left to raise that grade!



Today we learnt the danger of having ghosts roam the lot. Sylvester was out making pancakes and all of a sudden he vanished causing a fire to errupt. Luckily Nils was able to put it out before the fireman came.



The seriously creepy and headless fireman!



Lollo wasn't home to save Nils from the scary woman who then started to flirt with him (as much as a headless sim can) because she was out going through trash in search of a great story.
