Sims 3 lagging and freezing, I have a good gaming PC

I have sims 3 + pets and generations and Ive been playing for quite sometime now. My game has started lagging and freezing now. It freezes for like 10 secs every minute! and that is very annoying. Im really addicted to this game and I HATE this lagging. The green crystal still rotating, trees still moving, but living things and time freezing. Can anyone help me with this?

I have core i3 2120 @ 3.3 Ghz with 2 GB gt 630 GPU and 8 GB Ram. I even have a huge HDD. I dont think my PC is causing this lag. I can run even better and heavier games on it with no problem. But what the heck is with the game that I love so much..!!?

I've sent you a private message, but thought I'd post my reply in the thread just in case you miss the PM.

Have you tried cleaning out your cache files? -- socialCache.package, Sims3Logs.xml, simCompositorCache.package, scriptCache.package, compositorCache.package, CasPartCache.package

If no, give it a try. If yes, but still having problems, backup your saved games, and whatnot that you want to save. If you need help with saving your files see the link below.

Saving folders/files to use on a different computer or to use as backup

Then try a Factory Reset - Rename your current Sims 3 folder to something like Sims 3 Current. Click the Sims 3 icon to create a new Sims 3 folder. Then copy your game saves, files and such over to the new game to see if that helps.

Thanks for the reply. I did the factory reset thing but game still freezing. I even uninstalled it completely, then again installed the base game and both EP and still no luck

Does game lag even if you start in a brand new town or is it just in one specific saved game?

If it's just in a specific game, try using resetsim *. Sometimes sims around town get stuck and this can cause the game to lag.

Wow this actually worked! Resetting all the sims in town removed the lag to 2%. If in future it again starts freezing, I'll tell.

And when I started my legacy, it wasn't lagging until several in-game days passed and my sim got married and created a family. Also I bought a big 40x40 house for them later. After which my game started freezing.
