Families in Oasis Landing

Is there any way to make these families playable? If I want to start playing with any of them what should I do?

Did you try using Edit Town and changing the active household like you do in other towns?  I haven't tried it yet, so I don't know if it would work.

Yes, I tried, but it doesn't work. Well, it's not even possible, because the button to do that is disabled.

It won't work because then you'd lose control of your Sims and be unable to return. To play them you must move them into your household, return home, boot the original Sims out of your household, return to the future and buy their old house. Same boat as traveling.

Ok, let's see if I get it. Before selecting a family to play with, I have to move a future household from Oasis Landing to a neighborhood like Sunset Valley, and then, choose them and take them back.

That sounds backwards.

You pick a family in Sunset Valley, then go to the future. Find the family you want, move them in with you. Then go back to Sunset Valley.
