Tech Question?
« on: November 17, 2009, 08:49:28 AM »
After hours of finally getting my sims close to a certian goal, I went to save and got the error 16 code. Must be a new one since the update yesterday I installed. Needless to say I not only lost that bit but I seem to have lost the whole house they were in from the beginning. When I went to restart etc. and save again it says those files all ready exist, so my question is just what folder are the saved games in? I went all through the ea game folder holding all the sims stuff. I cant seem to find the saved games or where they put the music or anything like that. Any clues? I do know my way around a pc a bit so just need to be pointed in right direction! Of course Im sure Ill probably find it after I post this as thats always seems to be rule of thumb! Thanks in advance

Typical just like I said I found it... I have a file with same name but one seems to have a extension of bad on it... should I delete that one?

The same thing is happening to me after installing the update yesterday.  I didn't lose my house or game, though.  Also check this thread and see if there's any help for you there: http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=6.0

Thanks for the replys ... I did try that link and did what it said but to no avail, so needless to say a lot of wasted hours, lol, in more ways than one. I wonder if it's the new update causing this because I know I always save throughout game pretty regular, and it did save the first few times before the error, so <shrug>.

I just came from Tech Section of sims 3 forums as the code 16 hit me also.  This was after I had dl'ed patch, then installed WA and downloaded that update.  I lost a multi-generation family that I had made on 6/2, many things lost so I was a little steamed.

Techie on forum says for now use "save as" til they address this issue.  Seems the general consensus is that the 1.5 and 1.6 versions were all rolled into 1.6 when they weren't supposed to be.  >:(  I really don't know as I know just enough about computers to be dangerous.

Bottom line, I will never dl another update til at least I hear it is the right one.

Well I guess that's the good bad news, at least we know it's not us.  Now my problem is I own a lot of business, but it's been three weeks since I can collect... very annoying.  Maybe a reboot will fix that, bit I'll read the faq first!

After latest update I've had 1 save problem (code 16) but not the first time I saved.  Did a 'Save As' and it has saved fine to the new save since.  Hope nobody else loses too much stuff.

I uninstalled the game and reinstalled the game, but did not install the patch, so far so good and is working fine.  Love the game and the adventures, but not going to install any more patches for now..Metro came up with a good question, why on earth would you have updates and patches right before a release date and right after, makes ya wonder what in the world EA is thinking, hopefully for now using save as and uninstalling the game works for now, good luck all.
