Chapter Two - Ely In Love
Pearl is now able to sculpt Ely's young adult ice sculpture. Ely changed into her formal dress and picks a pose.
Pearl: It may turn out different, just so you know.
As promised, Pearl rejoins the science career. During her sculpting days, she's been listening to the gardening, fishing and handiness tabcasts so hopefully she progresses through her career quickly.
Although she couldn't ask for a raise and promotion on her first day, inviting the boss - Hazel Hoffman - over to stay doesn't hurt.
Ely invites Julian over. He's the only singleton she knows at this point - apart from
that other guy - so she hopes to snatch him while he's still around. He seems interested in her flirting and agrees to a date.
Ely's love of the outdoors takes them to the Hot Sands Beach. They spend the whole afternoon playing in the ocean and enjoying marshmallows by the fire side.
But marshmallows are hardly filling, so it's off to Midnight Moon Bistro. Ely pays for two meals outside when Julian says he's tired and just leaves. With a heavy sigh, Ely eats her meal alone and then notices
him.
Elysium: Gilberto!
Gilberto: Oh, it's you.
Ever since Ely had first set eyes on Gilberto, she'd been smitten with him. Unfortunately, he'd refused to be invited over, said no to every date and was offended when she visited him at home. She'd given up on him, but here he was, right in front of her when she was supposed to be on a date with Julian.
Elysium: Gilberto... I know I've been a bit obsessive, and I'm sorry. But, would you like to come over to my place?
Reluctantly, he agreed and as soon as they'd got through the front door, Ely threw herself at him thinking -
Should I French kiss him?
She backed away. Gilberto pulled her to him again and kissed her, properly.
Elysium: Gilberto, p-please will you marry me?
She had already gotten on one knee and taken out the ring. Gilberto gasped, covering him mouth in a very girlish way and nodded.
Before he could change his mind, Ely dragged him to the wedding arch. Pearl and Len had been sleeping but slowly roused to attend the wedding. Even Hazel was there. It's not every day you get married in front of a large ice cream sundae.
They were both too tired for anything else, and so everyone headed back to bed. The next day, Gilberto sported his new look and got a new job as a Lifeguard.
In other news, Pearl had heard about Ricardo's new girlfriend. [Sorry I forgot the name.] She broke it off and ordered him to leave before she ended up skinning him. Ricardo left promptly, behaving as if he'd done nothing wrong.
With the love of her life gone, Pearl needed someone new to fill the hole in her heart. She made a phone call and soon enough a little girl came running towards her, hugging her tightly and saying, "Thank you, thank you," over and over again.
Welcome, Kyoko Yang.
There's enough time to play a game of tag before Kyoko's first day at school.
Pearl is there to help her daughter with homework then goes to raise her fishing skill.
Kyoko enjoys a joyride while Uncle Len watches TV - a well deserved break now that Ely's portrait is ready.
