Is there a way to edit the university town before moving in?
« on: November 08, 2013, 12:50:14 PM »
I want to add buildings to the area before moving there because once you enroll you can't seem to edit before you are forced to choose a place to live.  Is there a way to edit the university town before you enroll for university?  Or is there a way to edit the town after you enroll but before you are forced to choose a place to live?

When you open up edit town when you're in a town[like towns you can start a game in] and you open up edit town like you do to edit your home town, in the top left corner they're should be a whitish box that has what looks like a building, if you own WA it will be next to the boxes for those places. When you hoover over it, it will say something like, 'University'. Click on it and it may promt you to save before you continue, and than a loading screen shows up and brings you to University, and you can edit it that way.

Hope this helps!

a secondary question has come up now that I can edit.

are the sims for the dorms, frat and sorority tied to the address or the building?  I mean if I delete the building on the frat lot...not the lot though just the building, and put a new building up, will the same sims use the new building as the frat (assuming that it is set up to be a frat and has enough beds)

Your welcome  :D It's really cool to be able to work on the house or dorm where you want your sim to live before hand.

I'm not 100% sure, but I do believe that the sims are tied to the house, much like in townies. Where if you delete their home, they will be moved to the clipboard and you can just move them back in. But if you evict them, they should stay in your clipboard and you could move them back in afterwards, they won't just disappear. The game itself may generate people over time, but I think when you first start off, it's usually the same people. After you finish building the frat or dorm, or house, or renovating on of them, you could move them back in afterwards. I can load the game up later and check for you.

I apologize....I am just not working on full energy today.  You are of course right...just like in any other town if you destroy a building you have to evict first and it puts them to the clipboard.  I will use as my excuse I have yet to play university so thought it worked differently...yeah that's the ticket...just never played that town before, not that I am an idiot...not at all....

hehehe...

thanks again, that is exactly right.  I had found a house (no idea where I found it but it was in my library) and it is just gorgeous and I have wanted to use it but as a single sim I had no need of an 8 bedroom house.  Now my little fraternity can use it in all its awesomeness.

Don't worry about it  ;D By the time the weekend comes I am just exhausted. We all have those days :D Being that the University town is a bit different, it makes total sense to think that the edit town might work differently, so don't feel bad about it  :)

I'm glad I could help. Have fun playing!
