The Sims 3 Pets PS3: Early Reader
« on: November 02, 2013, 01:56:35 AM »
I'm trying to get the Early Reader challenge. I have a toddler, I have children's books. Aaaaand...no option to read any of said children's books to said toddler. I've tried clicking the books from inventory while the toddler is on the floor, while the toddler is in the crib, or while the prospective reader is holding the toddler. I've also tried selecting a book from the book case in all three above scenarios. I've tried clicking on the toddler in the crib, on the floor, or in a sim's arms. I've tried with books I already had, books my sims wrote, and books I bought just for the challenge.

There is no option to read to a toddler.

Someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong, I'm becoming quite frustrated with this severely broken game and EA's policy on normalizing this sort of thing.

Is Early Reader even possible on console? Did EA intentionally make an unattainable trophy just to mess with people?

I'm sorry to hear about your PS3, Akama.  :(

If it works the same way as it does on the PC version (and if I'm remembering correctly) you have to have the book in your inventory, then click on the toddler itself, not the book.

Thank you. I thought I tried that, but I must have done it wrong.

I have the same game.  I think what I did was picked a book for toddlers, have an adult (or I think parent) pick the book and an option should come up to read to [insert child's name here] and then your sim sits down with the child and reads the book while the child turns the pages.  If it's a book where they learn skills you'll obviously see the skill bar above the child's head.  When they fully learn all they can they get a head start on life and if it was a book about art they start off with a higher skill level in art.  I hope this helps.

I have concern's for how long i should wait for the simbot opportunity, i have read multiple things on the time till i get the call,
I tried it in the game by waiting for 2 ingame weeks, no phone call,is there some problem? I use the stroke of genius karma power alot.
Since I'm desperate to have my own sim/simbot family, yet i just can't get any help that's accurate, any advice and suggestions that are accurate and explain
And i apologize for the expansive question

The easiest way to read to a toddler is a the library. It's lightning fast. Go to the low shelf in the children's toy section with the child in the library on the floor. Click on the shelf and read with child's name will pop up as a possibility with a list of toddler books. Select one. That's it.
