Sim-love can be a strange thing, but whatever makes Grace happy, and me happy due to Trigger's original townie status! I do love the screenshot of Grace and Trigger slow-dancing, and of them by the wedding cake. It's sweet. :)

Congrats to Puzzle too.

Thank you everybody  :)

Me Too, the fight to avoid the clone face is never easy, of course the IF dolls are clone faces as well but I find the wacky hair and eyes makes them different enough not to bother me so badly, plus I could makeover Puzzle to help hide it a little.

My hope that the game might let Travis and Susie have a baby since it married them fizzled rather fast, besides it would be a relative now in any case but I did find story progression the worst part of it I just wish it had more facial diversity in the sims it creates, and not just in the fashion it puts on them  :P

Chapter 33: Broken

Somehow our house seems to have turned into an old peoples home, we have our meals all cooked for us, entertainment laid on, a nice young purple haired lady cleans up after us and we spend our days sitting in high backed chairs, just when did this happen?

Max has been spending a bit more time with his brother, I was surprised to find he had a better relationship with his sister in law than with Travis, but an afternoon visit soon put that right.

I have taken over June's task of making ice sculptures, I thought it would be nice to make one of Puzzle.

And of course there are photos to be taken but we had to wait for Grace to stop feeling sick before we could take hers. After the wedding Grace and Trigger went to China for a honeymoon, I have a sneaky suspicion there is a honeymoon baby on the way.

Trigger was thrilled when he found out he was going to be a father.

And of course we are both delighted to be grandparents.

But the biggest surprise was MaryKay, she even felt Grace's tummy of her own volition.

The big day arrived the same day that Trigger turned 90, in just a few hours he would get to meet his child.

But as evening arrived so did an unwelcome visitor.

"Please just let me see my baby, one more day I beg you."

Grim wasn't interested though, poor Grace, she barely had more than a week with Trigger.

"You wont do it."

"Wanna bet?"

"See MaryKay, I told you I would."

"I despair of you two, I really do."

"Hey hang on a minute once was bad enough but that's taking liberties, get your boney hands off my wife mister!".

Naturally I had to do some groveling for that, not a lot of excuses you can come up with for hugging the Grim Reaper either.

As the saying goes as one life leaves this world another enters it and it wasn't long before the baby came, with her husband gone it fell to me to take Grace to the hospital, there she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.

Welcome to the family Stone Broke.

I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to marriage, I like the men to propose and the ladies to take on their name hence Grace is now a Broke and no longer a Shallow, Stone is an easily impressed slob, while the Shallows have evil as their family trait the Broke family have slob so it seemed fitting he inherit something from his father.

Chapter 34: Mummy's Boy

"I can't do this alone mum, it wasn't supposed to be like this." I understood her fears but she wasn't alone and never would be.

Over the next few days we all rallied round Grace, helping her with baby Stone.

Or offering a comforting word.

Slowly she began to get over her grief and she had the best thing of all to keep her going, her baby boy.

"Stupid stuff why wont you come out....ughhhh well that's just typical."

The days passed quickly and already it was time for Stone's first birthday.

Can't something just go right for a change.

Still it didn't take long for Dallas to put it out.

Second time lucky.

I know he's my grandchild so I guess I'm a bit biased but he is just the most adorable little thing, and if I'm not mistaken I think he's going to look like his daddy.

Dallas went straight to work getting him used to living with the Shallows.

But when he tried to get him to sit for a sculpture Stone chose to show his grandfather the Broke way of doing things.

Yes, he's just like his daddy.

Haha, it'd be extremely funny if that was his pose for his ice sculpture, he'll be embarrassed for the rest of his days.

Chapter 35: Holding On

Trigger's death shocked me, of course I always knew he could go at any time but somehow I didn't expect it to be quite so quickly, Dallas is 88 and while I would love it if he was as long lived as his mother there's every chance he could be as short lived as Trigger, I'll admit that I'm just not ready to lose him so instead I booked us a 21 day holiday, the longest I could manage, just so I can hold on to him that little bit longer.

Selfish? maybe, after all Grace had no time at all with Trigger whereas I have had a whole lifetime with Dallas but for me a 1000 lifetimes would never be enough. And there are still things he wishes to do, like for example paint some masterpieces, hopefully this trip will give him the time to do them.

I found him a new friend by the river in front of our house, it's a Barbour's Map Turtle and he's named it Humberto of all things.

Often at night we will sit and watch the stars together.

And during the day we go exploring, I'd been collecting beetles for one of my friends here in China, it was during one of these bug searches I found Humberto, but after this last lot I think I might give it a rest for a bit, an assassin bug up your trouser leg is not a nice experience let me tell you.

"Tracey, give me a good name for a comic book would you I can't think of anything."

"How about Betty Yeti."

"Oh she's just going to love you for that one."

It may seem like I don't like Betty much, truth is she's one of my oldest and dearest friends, it's just I feel sure if I had never arrived in Riverview Betty is who Dallas would have fallen in love with, Bob or no Bob.

Dallas actually took my comic book title idea and it turned out to be a hit with the publisher, he even wrote a sequel, see even with that she comes out smelling of roses.

Another thing Dallas longed to do was play his guitar, he's never had much chance to play, partly because I had his guitar but mostly because of having no time.

He's also been catching deathfish at the graveyard just up the road, he has enough for us to stock a pond with them if we wanted, it's definitely worth considering.

It's all well and good him wanting these animals but muggins here ends up cleaning them out.

If he wasn't writing comic books on his new laptop Dallas was playing computer games, by the time the trip was over he had turned into a complete nerd.

The days went by quicker than I expected, all too soon it was time to go home.

But when we got there we found a surprise waiting for us on the front lawn.

"Is that a Llama?"

As you can see I installed university during this chapter, I play tested it for a bit then came back to my game, with hindsight I wish I had tested it for longer then I wouldn't have let Dallas get so nerdy, because Uni also brought the fast skilling bug with it and social groups are a hidden skill so within days my whole house were total nerds and berating each other constantly.

Apart from Dallas and Tracey which made me go and investigate, turns out family oriented sims wont use the berate ignorance interaction and that is what I gave them for their bonus trait, so there you go if your sims are driving you nuts berating ignorance make them family oriented and it stops dead.

21 days is a long time, but I can understand why she'd do that =]

Wish I knew how to stop the berate ignorance with the family orientated trait before, though it's not too much of a probem since my evil sim is the only one who keeps doing it.

I understand how it's feeling... Having Old Sims at home just... Too sad, because we don’t know that when they will be gone :(
Welcome, Stone Broke. I do feel the same. Not only traditionalist, you also made things match like the traits was the gene inherited from his father. Look realistic! :)

34
Uh, oh... What's the chance of getting fire on blowing birthday cakes anyway? Random? Poor, Stone!
Little stone just like Trigger :D

Betty Yeti reminds me of Ugly Betty :P
So, usually you made your Sims free will on? I never let my Sims run at their free will until I see something interesting that appease me besides of that cancel their queue :P

Betty Yeti is actually an EA comic book title that comes up, you might be right about that Eldridge they could well have chosen it because of Ugly Betty  :D

I always play with free will on high in all my games, I just love letting them do their own thing and seeing what happens, of course with dynasty games you have to have high free will which sometimes works against you, Tracey got her cooking up to level 5 or 6 just by sneaking off to the kitchen, I was so glad they put the lockable doors in the Uni patch where you could choose who could or couldn't go in there, saved me putting several doors in just to keep one sim out the kitchen.

Cooking is actually a skill I think I would leave open if I ever did this again, no matter how many leftovers are in the fridge somebody always gets out another tray and then bleats at the kitchen door, my house was always littered with uncooked food so I just used to tell Grace to cook them all and put them in the fridge but they just got more out and ignored the leftovers again, sims are so silly at times  ::)

As far as I know every cake has a chance to catch fire but that chance is increased with certain traits, such as clumsy so it would be better if somebody else took him to the cake other than Tracey or Grace but it always seems to pick Tracey for it, I suppose because she is the oldest.

I can't tell you how much I hate that berate ignorance interaction, it made my game a misery to play for a time there, I couldn't keep an eye on every sim at all times so I could cancel it and it was all they ever did, they went from a loving family to a hateful one so fast it was alarming I'm just glad I found a solution that didn't involve me uninstalling Uni altogether, for those whose traits were already used up I bought them the lifetime reward degree to add family oriented and everybody else got it at some point while aging or just from nerd influence.

One bonus though is it occasionally made for a good screenshot that fit with what I wanted to write, so some good came from it.  ;D

Chapter 36: Don't Panic!

The vultures are circling already, when she was single nobody ever asked Grace out on a date, well apart from Bob but that wasn't a romantic date, now newly widowed and vulnerable they pounce, she isn't interested though.

Stone enjoys being read Jimmy Sprocket just as much as his mother did, he's such a happy child, he never complains and always has a smile on his face.

Puzzle has some odd ideas of athletic attire, I don't know maybe those flippers help with leverage or something.

Dallas is 90 today, I've been so intent on his age I've totally lost track of the girls so it came as a shock to find out it was their birthday already, and what's more Grace had no portrait!

Thankfully it was the early hours of the morning when it dawned on me so as soon as the sun came up Dallas started painting, and was finished in plenty of time. Thank god he wasn't going through one of his red phases, he was deep into that in China, everything he painted there was red. Instead he painted a perfect masterpiece.

While Dallas painted, Grace taught Stone how to walk.

At last her museum pieces are in place, panic over.

Grace is finally back at work and her shift meant she would be working till 9pm, there was little point in a birthday party, Puzzle had hers with little fuss, but she is having a mid life crisis.

When Grace got home we had a cake ready for her, but although she blew out the candles it wasn't very edible, she too is having a mid life crisis, with far more reason than Puzzle I feel.

I've discovered a cunning trick for getting what I want for dinner, I get the ingredients out throw a tantrum at the kitchen door and somebody comes and cooks it for me, marvelous!

We decided to build that pond for the deathfish, Max has already made use of it even if he can't quite catch them yet.

After the panic over Grace's portrait it seemed best to get all Stones toddler pieces done in plenty of time, that is one mistake we wont make again.

Chapter 37: Attack Of The Nerds

It seems like ages since Grace was last at work and she has quite a bit of catching up to do, Puzzle is just one promotion away from achieving her lifetime wish of Creature Robot Cross Breeder, while Grace is still stuck at level 4 of her career, during her absence some of her co-workers passed away so she has to start over again meeting the new ones, at least Bob is still her boss.

When she got home today a surprise was waiting for her in the greenhouse, Trigger.

This was the first time he had put in an appearance, he had spent the last couple of hours meditating by the life fruit bush.

When Trigger moved in his dream had been to become Leader Of The Free World, at 84 it didn't seem very likely, so instead he took up martial arts, he was very close to that final belt when Grim came, but it would seem it brought him an inner peace that he has carried with him to the afterlife.

Dallas has infected the whole house with his nerdiness, so far the only escapees are Max and Stone, and what's weirder is we infect him back making him even nerdier. So much so he got offered a job as a video game developer, he's 92 now hardly the time to be embarking on a new career so he turned it down.

The girls both wanted a new car, and not just any car but one worth 10,000, well Puzzle already has a motorbike, or her rebel ride as she likes to call it, but she was happy to let Grace have the car she just wanted the fun of buying one. So now we have an orange Toyota to go with all the other cars we hardly use. They also wanted makeovers but I had to say no to that one, they know the rules no makeovers allowed.

Lately it seems like every day brings more sad news, a lot of our old friends are passing away, first Sherman then Betty and today we got the news about Bob, before long everybody I grew up with will be gone, I realise that I don't really know Riverview anymore, it's a town full of strangers and my family is my social life. Would there be any point even getting to know new people, they too will grow old and die while I carry on, I think the magnitude of what we have undertaken has finally started to sink in, at least I will always have Grace and Stone, and all those to come, that is some comfort.

For Grace though this means she is not only losing her boss but a best friend too, a double blow to her potential immortality, she has one new advantage though, her father has infected her so much with his nerdiness that she has become more ambitious, with luck her new boss will appreciate her dedication as much as Bob did.

For a time Max stayed free of the nerd attack but it didn't last long.

I don't think Dallas will be happy until he's converted the whole house to his new way of thinking.

It's Stone's birthday already, we had a small family celebration in the garden and thankfully it went better than his last birthday.

As soon as he had finished his cake Dallas called him to pose for his sculpture, he put his best formal wear on for it, his outfit is a little eccentric for such a young boy but then so is he.

I don't think Dallas quite captured the pose though, the one he did appeared to be gossiping, a bit of artistic license maybe.

"Once more Betty Yeti had saved the day and foiled Emperor MK's evil plan...."

I can see yet another nerd in the making here.

Grace had wanted to do the house up a bit so we did but we spent most of the 10,000 budget on Stone, he seems to be enjoying all his new playthings and has already spent a night sleeping in his treehouse.

He gets on great with Puzzle and they play a lot together, he particularly enjoys scaring her with ghost stories, Stone never received one of those strange dolls from our mysterious relative but it would seem Puzzle is happy to be his playmate just like she was Grace's.

After the evil Emperor MK stopped her wicked ways she joined the Llamas along with Max, her ambitious streak meant she soon left Max on the bench and she is already the league MVP.

It's strange how things are always changing, not so long ago MaryKay was a hated figure in town now she is adored, and not just by her fans, by her family too, it would seem her school friends were right after all, she did become a sports star.

Actually, they always choose the person with the highest relationship with the baby/toddler to take them to the cake.

Is that so, well I guess that makes sense, thanks Rikki.
