“Moth’s Research”Moth is continuing to pursue independent research studies at work. Whether it’s his Lucky trait or James’s influence, Moth’s research is always successful and has resulted in frequent promotions. Sometimes he gets over-enthusiastic about his research and comes home a bit singed.
One day he has exciting news to share at dinner.
Moth: At last! My research has confirmed the existence of Dimension H!
Wimsey: Dimension H? Really? I thought that was just a myth.
James: I always thought those old stories must be based on something real.
Moth: Yes, there is a race of beings called Humans. We’ve been monitoring their television and radio communications. It’s going to be on the news - turn on the television.
They all rush over to watch the news story.
Black-haired newscaster: So, Ralph, is it true? Sunset Valley researchers have confirmed the existence of Dimension H?
Red-haired newscaster: Yes, Andrew, isn’t it amazing? Now we have an exclusive interview with the head of the Science Centre. You won’t believe the video shots.
News Announcer: Professor Simstein, thank you for being with us.
Professor Simstein: Hello Ralph! Yes, my research definitely confirms that Dimension H is real.
Molly:
His research? What about Moth?
Moth: That’s my boss - he takes credit for everybody else’s work.
News Announcer: Professor, we understand that most of the research was done by a promising young scientist named Moth Douglas. Can we talk to him?
Simstein: Oh, yes, Moth helped. But as lead scientist, I take responsibility for all research done at our lab. I am in charge.
News Announcer: What have you learned about Dimension H so far?
Simstein: The beings called Humans are very sim-like in appearance, at least the adults are. The children have fur to protect them from the cold. Here is a picture of a human female feeding her child.
Moth: Idiot. That’s not her child. It’s some kind of animal species.
News Announcer: We understand these beings use language to communicate. Have you made any progress in understanding their language?
Simstein: Not yet. Their language is very different from Simlish. We’re still working on it.
Moth: If he was really doing the research himself, he’d know better. We’ve actually learned that different tribes of humans have different languages. One of the main languages is called Hinglish. I’ve learned a few words of it.
News Announcer: Professor, do you think it will be possible for us to communicate with these beings?
Simstein: Oh, I doubt it, Andrew. These beings are really very primitive, as you can see. We hope to be able to understand their communications some day, but they just aren’t intelligent enough for real inter-species communication to ever be possible. Now, Andrew, I know your viewers would like to see an action shot of me in my lab. This is where it’s all happening!
News Announcer: Thank you very much, Professor Simstein. Now folks, you won’t believe this shot. See the white stuff in that picture? It’s called snow! It appears to be very cold where these beings live.
The Announcer continues: Stay tuned to Channel SIMS for updates on the Dimension H discovery! Now here’s Sandi with your weather report.
