“James does the Right Thing”

Letter from James:

Dear Recipe Man,

You and I have never met, but I am writing to you as I believe you are the nearest living relative of Agnes Crumplebottom.  As you know, Agnes was an extraordinary woman, and when I first arrived in SV she kindly allowed me the use of her Bwan Speedster.  Unfortunately, Agnes died suddenly before I was able to return the automobile.   An old acquaintance recently reminded me of this, and I have been wondering what I could do to remedy the situation.

This afternoon when I was fishing by the pier, I heard a mysterious Voice informing me that “Recipe Man is one of Agnes’ relatives” and it became clear what I must do.  The postal worker has assured me that I can return the car to you through the mail box.  I hope he is telling the truth - he has been somewhat hostile to our family ever since he almost died in the explosion when Jenna detonated an old car on the lot.  [Editor’s note:  see page 28]

This car has served me faithfully for a very long time and is one of my best friends.  I hope you will treat it well and that you will get as much enjoyment from it as I have done.

Sincerely,
James of the Clan Douglas

Be my guest.  I thought of posting that letter in the Man Dynasty but wasn't sure it would be good form to put it there.

“Recipe Man Responds to James Douglas”

Hi James:

It’s been quite a while since you and I last communicated. How are Carina and the rest of the Dreamweavers doing?

I read your letter this morning and think that it’s mighty big of you to step up to the plate and return Agnes’ Bwan Speedster. Not everyone would do that. I know I wouldn’t. Sounds like you’re a bigger Man than I am. How tall are you?

When I went to the mailbox I couldn’t believe my eyes when I peeked inside. I’ve enclosed some photos that Jamila took as proof.

Agnes: “What do you see inside the mailbox?”
Recipe: “It looks like your old car.”

Indeed it was. A marvelous feat of engineering you pulled off there, old James, my boy. I huffed, and I puffed, and out came the car...

Thanks again. Oh, and if you ever have the urge to send us another car, please just drive over.

Yours in eternal Manhood,
Recipe of the Man Clan

Did you make that mistake on purpose?

You're showing that gullibility again. ;)

Simstar, everything I write is completely intentional. Either it's funny or it's not.  :D

You guys softened my eyes (if that's right phrase to use), this is such a great family, The Voice is heard everywhere and guide everyone to right direction, James made a final turn and Clan Douglas now has strong and high moral standards with clean conscience, and Recipe, even if sometimes a little bit senile is irresistible and always made everyone laugh. Love you guys!

The impression I got, from Recipe mentioning the Dreamweavers is that all the Dynasty families know each other. I was probably wrong and Metro sorry I mean Recipe is going senile in his old age.

No. The joke (if you can call it that at this point) is that Recipe is a goofball and dummy. Here he's talking to the Founder of the Douglas clan and makes the mistake of even mentioning the Dreamweavers—as in...the Douglas Clan and the Dreamweavers were one and the same.

“Celebrity:  Is it a Good Thing?”   - Millie’s blog

Okay, you’ve all seen them:  celebrities.  You know, the sims you have to try to impress before you can talk to them.  Maybe some of you have worked hard to gain a celebrity star or two of your own.  But what of those who find themselves celebrities without even trying?  I mean the kids of celebrities - those innocents who had the good - or bad - fortune to be born to celebrity parents.  Here’s what it has been like for my daughter Molly.  The day after her birthday she went to the park.  She was already a 3-star celebrity at this point.  What do you think happened?  Everything she did was photographed by the paparazzi:

Even ordinary sims kept crowding in, wanting to meet her:

Everyone wanted her to pose for pictures:

Molly decided to take advantage of the situation by getting people to do silly things:

But is all this attention good for children?  I wonder.  Fortunately, Molly is quite level headed and doesn’t let all this go to her head.  But it does get tiresome.  Now that she is a teenager, even the gnomes won’t leave her alone:

On another topic, our family really appreciated the gracious letter Recipe Man sent.  It was very Manly of him to take it all so well, especially after the Bwan Speedster fell on him when he took it out of the mailbox.  Recipe sent us some pictures Jamilla took, and it did look quite painful.  We hope Recipe recovers his memory soon.

Signing off for now.
