...I don't get it.  ???

If you were a troglodyte, how would you open a bottle that's as big as you are?  He's going to use the only tool he has - his club - to break the top off.  That's why he's telling the others to get out of the way.

Oh, I forgot to mention how lovely the bridal outfit is.  You really put it together nicely with the hat and gloves.  Is that one of the new wedding dresses from the Store?

It is from the Store, but I'm not sure if it's one of the new wedding dresses.  The original version was pink, so perhaps it's meant to be a bridesmaid dress?  I rarely buy sets, just individual items I like, so later I can never remember what the item was called.  The dress came with gloves.  And the hat was originally black, but I like the way it looks in white with the dress.  Thank you!

Yes, you did a very good job on the dress.  Really gorgeous.  I like your update and those gnomes are hilarious.

Rhett is eager to learn Martial Arts, and Christie has heard China’s base camp has lots of good books, so the newlyweds start planning a trip to China.  But before they can get a seat on the plane, their travel plans have to be postponed.

Christie:  Rhett, it’s time to start buying toys.
Rhett:  (I have no idea what he’s thinking)

Rhett:  Hello, is anyone at home in there?

That night in bed:
Christie:  Rhett, I’m worried about the baby.
Rhett:  What’s wrong?  Do you need to go to the hospital?
Christie:  No, no, it’s not that.  But Mum told me that, to have a good baby, I should eat only watermelon, and I haven’t been doing that.  You know, working at the Diner, we have to test the dishes as we cook.  This week we’ve been having a special on fruit parfait.  Do you think apples are bad for the baby?
Rhett:  Oh, I’m sure it will be alright.  Don’t worry.
Christie:  Do you believe in astrology?

Rhett:  I’ll read the pregnancy book like you wanted me to, I’m sure that will help.

those gnomes are hilarious.

Yeah, when I saw the plum nectar sitting out and the troglodyte nearby, I knew I had to use it.  I presume the nectar slipped out of my grip when I was putting it away in the nectar rack, but what if the gnomes really did take it?  In the original sims, the gnomes used to get in the nectar vat and get drunk, so it's not a totally farfetched idea!

Wimsey’s Blog:

Hi everybody,

This is just a quick update to share the good news!  This morning, Christie was in the mood for a treatment at the spa, so off she went.  Before the treatment was over, she had to leave:

Would you believe, those cheapskates at the spa didn’t even give her a refund!  I think it’s time for us to buy that place and put it under new management.

As soon as Rhett heard, he dropped everything and rushed to the hospital:

It’s a boy!  His name is Sleuth.*

Christie and Rhett keep wanting to put Sleuth in his crib, but he seems happiest in the living room where he can listen to music and watch his father paint.  I wonder what he will grow up to be?

Generation 1 and Generation 4

* Editor’s note:  Sleuth, like all the other Immortals in this story, is named after one of my schipperkes.  The name definitely doesn’t mean he’s going to grow up to become a “sleuth” or private eye!

The Exciting Life of a Toddler

Sleuth Douglas has a birthday.

Wearing his new tartan shirt, he sets out on his voyage of discovery.
There is so much to learn.  Will he be a musical prodigy?  Or should he just eat the mallet?

His grandmother teaches him to talk.  She has odd notions of what is an appropriate topic of conversation for a toddler.

He has many teachers.

A bedtime story with Mum while Dad works on his painting.

Aw, is it bedtime already?

And so to bed.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to help me learn how to make better-looking nooboos!

The Mortals' Gallery is taking shape:

The IMmortals' Gallery is a little harder because of the amount of stuff.  Trying different arrangements:

Joria and Samoht, thanks for taking the time to look at my story.  Joria, are you a McCallum?  I am enjoying my little clan, but dressing them all in the tartan gets a bit challenging as more people join the family - trying to give each a distinctive look is harder with that self-imposed restriction.

A Day in the Life of Sleuth Douglas” or, “Toddling Along

Now that he can walk, Sleuth has many adventures.  Where does this hallway lead?

For some reason this object reminds him of his father.  He begins to feel cold and the toddler races back to familiar surroundings.

Mother takes him to the library.

Late that night, dozing in his crib, he hears his great-grandfather come in from fishing as usual.  But instead of going to bed, the old man’s steps come closer.  Sleuth hears his door open and the old man who is his best friend picks him up.
“Hush, now, laddie.  We don’t want to wake your parents.  Someone wants to meet you.”
Carrying the sleepy toddler, the old man tiptoes out the front door and dashes across the street to where two graves stand alone.
“Here he is, Mortimer, I brought your grandson over like I promised.”

Sleuth wonders who the old man is talking to.  The toddler hears nothing, only the sighing of the wind.   James appears to be directing his comments to the swirl of fog that has arisen.  The old man continues:
“Yes, he’s a fine lad.  He’s just perfect.”
Again, Sleuth hears only the wind.
“Tell Holly I brought him.  Tell her I’ll come tomorrow.”
The fog swirl has gone.  James puts Sleuth down and takes a moment to think about Holly, his lost love.

“Aye, well, we’d best get you home before they find out you’re gone,” the old man says, picking up the little fellow.

Aww, that is so sweet.  Funny how we can get pics and put words to them.  Good job Schipperke.

It is time.  The day she has been working toward is finally here.  Wimsey thinks of everything she has done to prepare for this day.  She has worked hard, but is it enough?  Has she forgotten anything?  She waits anxiously as her Dad goes down his list.  He mutters, half to himself:  “Career, yes; SuperMax, yes; 6 best friends?” (turning to her).  She nods.  He continues, “Ah, the BlackOps.  You finally got your six?”  Again, she nods.  “And the portraits,” he continues, “young Rhett isn’t quite up to the standard of your mother or Mortimer, but he’s still learning.  He’s finished the one of you?”  Another nod.  “Shame about there being no ice sculpture,” James continues.  “But still, it’s not essential.  You can start teaching Rhett to sculpt.  Don‘t forget to get Christie to take your photo.”

He continues to study his list, frowning.  Wimsey feels her anxiety growing.  Did she forget something?  Is there some task unfinished?  She summons her courage and asks “So, how have I done?  Is everything okay?”

The old man looks up at her, a broad grin on his face.  “Wimsey, child, of course everything’s okay!  There was never any doubt of it.  You must have known I was keeping track all along.  Didn’t you realize we were both working for this?”  Relief courses through her.  She passed!  She is ready to join her father as the second Immortal in the clan.  “And none too soon,” he points out as he hands her a death flower from his pocket; “It’s very unsettling having a daughter who’s older than I am.  I’ll tell Christie to whip up a batch of ambrosia first thing in the morning.”

He changes clothes to head out fishing, then they hug and she goes to bed.
