“The Last Immortal”The Elders’ Council is preparing to review Moth’s Dynasty tasks and welcome him as the last immortal. James, early as usual, is waiting for the others to arrive.
As he sits, deep in thought, he has mixed feelings. He is very proud of his family for the work they’ve done to help the dynasty succeed. But he wonders what will happen to them now. For some time, he has been aware that many of his descendants are getting bored and restless. They need a new challenge, but what? He just doesn’t know. And there was Holly’s warning of danger in Generation 8. He wonders if it’s safe to relax now that Moth has completed his dynasty work and is ready to become immortal.
His ruminations are cut short as the others begin to arrive.
They take their places around the old table and the meeting begins.
James: Well, we all know that Moth has exceeded his dynasty requirements. Well done, lad! Here’s your death flower to keep in your pocket.
Everyone cheers and claps.
It is quite late already - past midnight - and nobody quite knows what to say, so James and Moth serve the nectar.
Mojo: Life fruit and pomegranate! Delicious! Molly, I think this is your best vintage yet.
Several of them comment on the chocolatey taste of the nectar, which must come from the life fruit as we know pomegranates don’t taste like chocolate. I always wondered what life fruit tasted like, now I finally know.
After enjoying a glass of nectar, they head off to sweet dreams.
[This is not the long post I promised. It's just that I've got so many pictures on my desktop I'm having trouble finding space for them all, so decided to post this bit ahead of the rest.]
