I love the outfit Millie is wearing at the computer writing up her report! Have you decided the final outfit she will wear or are you still mixin' and matchin'?

She's been wearing that outfit for a while now, so I guess she'll keep it for the time being.  Trying to find a distinctive look for each of them, while including the tartan in each outfit, can be challenging!  Not everything works in plaid.

Thanks for the comments, Simstar and Beddy.

Aw, Pam - thank you!  I'm glad you like her.

“A Reporter’s Dilemma”

Millie is troubled.  She is happy to have received another promotion, but finds herself deeply perplexed by her new job.  On the surface, her new position seems quite straightforward but for one thing.  Millie just doesn’t know how she can do justice to her job requirements.  In fact, she doesn’t see how she can do the job at all.  She decides she needs to consult her boss.  Millie’s boss, Jeanie Holbrook, lives next door in what was once the Landgraab mansion, so it takes her just a few minutes to come over.

[When you’re rich and in charge at the newspaper, I guess you can wear whatever you want.]

Millie:  Jeanie, thank you for my promotion.  I need to know just what you expect of me in my new job.
Jeanie:  Why, Millie, I think your job description is very clear.  As always, we expect you to report the news in a professional way that will engage the citizenry of Sunset Valley so they don’t question our monopoly on the news.
Millie:  Yes, Jeanie, I understand that.  And I’ve always tried to do my best.

Jeanie:  We wouldn’t have promoted you if we weren’t confident you could do the job.  Are you questioning your ability to do this job?
Millie:  No, no!  I’m sure I can do a good job.  It’s just - I’m not sure what you want me to do.

Jeanie:  Millie, have you been overindulging in nectar or something?  Are your brains addled?  Surely it is self-evident that the job of a Weather Woman is to report the weather.
Millie:  But Jeanie … we don’t have weather in Sims 3!
Jeanie:  Oh, Millie.  Of course we have weather.  The weather is all around us.  For example, today it’s sunny and warm.  That’s weather.
Millie:  But it’s always sunny and warm.
Jeanie:  There, you see?  Your job is really very easy.  The news service needs a Weather Woman, and if you want to get further promotions, you need to do a good job reporting the weather.  I expect 100% accuracy in your weather forecasts.  Now, if there’s nothing else, I’d like to get back to my garden. [she leaves]

I've just read your Dynasty from the start. Brilliant! I love the different ways you write your updates. I especially love Millie questioning her weather girl promotion. James and Millie are definitely my favourites. Have the paparazzi tried photographing him catching deathfish yet?

Smuffy, that's a great question!  He hasn't been fishing for deathfish recently.  The household has over $6,000,000 so I haven't been bothering to send him out in the middle of the night.  But I should.  Thanks for the idea.

And I am impressed that you took the time to read the whole thing.  That says a great deal for your endurance!   ;D

"Movie Mania"

As a Couch Potato, Millie gets a great deal of pleasure from watching movies and television.  One of her favourite assignments as a reporter is reviewing movies.  Saturday afternoon, Millie goes to a matinee showing of Casimblanca, an old movie but one of her favourites.

As Millie leaves the theatre and returns home, her mind is still absorbed in the movie.  The star, Geoffrey Landgraab III, was so handsome.  And the Al Simhara sets were just dreamy.  She arrives home, walks through the front door, and sees her grandfather Sleuth at the piano.

Millie:  Play it, Sim.
Sleuth:  Huh?  Are you talking to me?
Millie:  You know what I want to hear.  You played it for her, you can play it for me.  Play A Sim’s Time Goes Bye-Bye.

Sleuth (to Wimsey):  Millie is acting very strangely.  Do you think she’s alright?

Wimsey:  Oh, she’s fine.  She just thinks she’s still in Casimblanca.  You know our little couch potato and her vivid imagination.  Just play something for her, she’ll be fine.
Sleuth (plays his favourite song, I Think I’m in love with a Ghost)

Millie writes a glowing review of the movie that pleases the theatre owners, who increase their advertising in the newspaper Millie works for.  Millie’s boss promotes her to Lead Reporter.

I am really enjoying this dynasty I am so impressed how you manage to portray all the characters in different ways. It probably sounds silly but there are certain Sims who seem to develop a personality of their own.

Milestones - Week 33, Day 5

1.  Millie reaches the top of the Journalism career, thereby achieving her LTW.

Here she is leaving the job for the last time.  Now that she has proven herself by reaching the pinnacle of her career, she feels confident enough to quit her day job and take up writing full time.  This will allow her to spend more time with the rest of the family and not have to eat all her meals alone because of her work schedule.

2.  That evening, Millie has her birthday and becomes an adult.  Her appearance is the same as it was.

3.  The same day, Jerry masters the guitar skill, also achieving his LTW.

4.  The same evening, Jerry also has a birthday.  Unfortunately, he suddenly looks a lot older.

A couple days later, Radar is 102 days old.  This makes him the oldest person the Dynasty has had.  It also means that Millie and Jerry have to continue to wait before they can fulfill their wish to have a child.

Radar continues to spend much of his time in meditation.  I’ve never had a sim who liked to meditate as much as he does.

I think Radar is just a chimera child.  (really, there are such children being born)  He looks so as one with the universe.

Millie is wonderfull, and Radar is really something. He is having long fullfilled life, but that is not comforting now that you actually have to wait for him to die and  hope to be soon.
It seems that Radar is living with his name, emitting and receiving waves from all over.
Love reading this story Schipperke, it is really special.

Millie’s Blog

Today’s Topic:  Family News and a Rant

Hi everyone,

Some of you have been asking why I haven’t been posting updates to my blog.   Well, when I was climbing the journalism ladder, I didn’t really have a lot of spare time.  But as you may know, once I reached the top of that ladder, I was out of there.  I am working hard to establish myself as a writer.  I’m pleased to inform you that all 22 of my children’s books have been hits or best-sellers.  [If you’re looking for a quality read for your kids, check out my books.  You won’t be disappointed!  Available only in your local bookstore.]

Now I am working on my first masterpiece, hoping to win a Simlitzer prize.  Wish me luck!  Here’s what my large family has been up to:

Mojo, my father, showing off his muscles:

The band Clan playing their first gig:

Uncle Radar likes to meditate overlooking the valley:

Sorry, I don’t have a new picture of my sweet potato.  Since Jerry got old, I just haven’t had the heart to go around snapping pictures of him.  He was so very handsome when I first met him.  Sigh.

Which brings us to today’s rant: Butlers vs. Babies

Okay, so I’m no longer a young adult.  My biological clock is ticking ever louder.  And Sweet Potato’s days are ticking down.  Jerry and I have been wanting to have a child ever since we got married.  Why haven’t we just got on with it?  Because of this silly rule that says there can’t be more than 8 sims in a household.  I mean, who makes these rules?  If you ask me, it’s a very draconian form of birth control.  But rules are rules, and if Sweet Potato and I have to wait for Uncle Radar’s passing, so be it.

But then “they” (whoever they are) brought in butlers!  Now we can have 9 sims in the household, but only if one of them is a butler.  Why?  I mean, you have to have a bedroom for the butler - he lives in the house.  Surely a grown-up butler takes up a lot more space than a little baby.  So the only way Sweet Potato and I can have a baby is if we can somehow arrange for her to be born as a butler!  Ridiculous.  Does this seem fair to you?  Don’t call me Silly Millie, you know it makes sense.

Signing off for now.
