Game options for disasters etc
« on: October 27, 2013, 01:13:33 PM »
I think I read once that there was an option to add things to your game such as meteor showers etc

Did I read this or have I just made this up? And if I haven't how do I add this function of game play to sice it up a bit.

Thanks

The meteors come with the Ambitions expansion pack. Hope this helps :D

EDIT: Also, there is no options to turn it on or off (unless you get a mod or something), it is just random

I think that is an option you can have with the weather machine you can purchase in the Lifetime rewards.

I've got ambitions but never seen anything to do with it. Thank you though :)

I've only had it happen once, even though I have had the expansion since it first came out :o

I've seen many of these, and, personally, I don't think they are in any way an enhancement to the game.  If you see the message "It's getting dark" (or something similar)  move your sims as quickly as you can to a position well away from where they are at the time.  If you don't get them well away from where they are when the message occurs, they will run back.  If on the spot when the meteor hits, it's goodbye sim(s)!

I have had tremendous damage done to my house an to my lot by these things, and, it is often difficult to find the "dirt" left behind.  There have been occasions when I have had to move house to escape it.

It has not happened to me, but, sometime ago a player reported, on here, one of these things hitting the school during the day and killing all the children in town.  My worst was losing twin toddlers a while back because I did not manage to move them in time.

(Hint: Pause the game, turn on cheats and teleport them well away from their current positions. If not heading to hit your own lot, resetsim * will work to get all vulnerable sims you don't control away from danger too.)

In the console versions of the game, there were "Karma powers", which included meteor showers. In the Sims Pets version, you could aim a meteor at a particular sim, which was an easy way to kill them off (for the console).
