Odd Vampire Portraits?
« on: October 27, 2013, 02:48:42 AM »
My Sim is now painting his third portrait of his vampire mother and they're all dark, grainy, and hard to tell it's a portrait at all. He's maxed out the skill. And the other portraits he's done (of his human father and imaginary friend) turned out just fine.

Is it normal for vampire portraits to be darker? Or have I just been lucky to get his more "artistic" pieces when he paints his mother?

I'm not sure if it's anything to do with being a vampire, maybe get better lighting and sometimes wallpaper can affect the portrait. It happened to me when my founder paints his cat - he's supermaxed the skill - it turned out grainy 3 times and on the 4th try it was perfectly fine. Perhaps you can paint her a few times and see it if continues?

It happens with all types of sims. Like Nettlejuice said, you can try changing the lighting or wallpaper. Maybe even try painting it outside. That usually helps when it happens to me.

Thanks, I'll try outside perhaps, I painted her in the same room as the other two portraits but it might have been night. I can't remember.

Good to know I'll be able to a get a decent portrait eventually.

Also certain traits change how a painting is painted as well. That might be part of it also.

Thanks for all the help.

I made her stand outside and the picture, while still a bit dark, is defiantly view-able and much better than my previous 3 attempts. I think what happened is he kept starting the painting at night and even if the inside lighting is decent, the game darkened the picture overall.

Glad to have it working right now!
