Babies born with traits

My sim just had twins and one of the trait slots was already taken for both of the twins. One twin got the Excitable trait and the other got the Artistic trait. I tried going back to a previous save but it still ended up the same. This is the first time I've encountered something like this.

Depending on the mothers well being during pregnancy, you usually get to pick a trait. If the mother didn't have a "good pregnancy", then a trait gets automatically assigned to the baby, like when kids age up to teens and they haven't done well at school, you don't get to pick the trait. Usually you get a notification though, stating why you can't pick the trait.

The notification said that the pregnancy went well and that the mother and baby made it smoothly. And I think that if the pregnancy didn't go well you don't get to pick any trait at all. I was still able to pick one trait for them.

There's a halfway point where you only get to pick one trait, even though the game will tell you the pregnancy went smoothly.  A truly difficult pregnancy won't let you pick any traits at all.  And, of course, a great pregnancy lets you pick both traits.  Also, in my experience, the only thing that really matters during the pregnancy is that the mother gets enough rest.  If her energy bar goes into the yellow, she's going to have some trouble.  Depending on how many times and how bad it gets, that's when the pregnancy will be a difficult one.

At least the traits weren't too bad. I've played rolling random traits and ended up with mean-spirited slobs. When I was first playing the Sims3, I had a mom who got too hungry while at the spa and I only got to select one trait. Everything else was in the green including energy. I was playing on the ps3 back then, so it could very well be different.
