I wonder why Isadora kissed Marc, he should have stayed a Toad xD I was surprised that Izzy decided to take Rufus with her, hope she doesn't turn out to be an evil stepmother type, lol.

I love Pixelen's story, and the action really works well here.

I was surprised when I decided to have her decide to take Rufus XD It really was an originally unplanned, spur of the moment thing but it's worked out really wel so far.

Stealing her child? I love it!

I can't wait to see everyone in action! Isadora is upsetting me - trying to save Marc from his fate of being a toad... forever!

You would love such sadistic behavior, Livvie XD

I'm really enjoying the story so far!  :D I can't wait to find out who the heir is.

Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it. We'll find out who the heir is very soon!

What? Can't I enjoy Izzy's revenge? I do allow myself some evil moments you know! Besides, it is Marc's kid, no? So there's technically nothing wrong with him suddenly gaining custody from his child...

If you enjoy this, Liv, all I can say is wait until the story progresses more. =p

Because I went over the image limit in one post, this chapter is split into two parts

06: Monotony at Morae Manor

Welcome to Morae Manor in Monte Vista—Adding together their household funds from Marc’s paintings, Marrick’s part time job, Izzy’s job and the money she makes off books, plus the money they got from selling the house and all it’s furniture, and clearing out the family inventory before moving, the family had well over 100k to buy a spacious 4 bedroom house with space for a 5th bedroom to be added. A quick walk-through of the place is below—Most of the original décor was left the same except for Marc and Rufus’s bedroom which had to be converted from an upstairs bar into a bedroom space (The Lot itself is called Cypress Retreat, at 31 Summer Street)

Courtyard & Exterior

Family Room

Isabelle’s Master

Marc & Rufus’s Room

Edwin & Damien’s Room

Marrick’s Room

Demelza’s Room

I apologize. I suck at taking pictures of rooms. Lack of in game photography skills aside, everyone appeared in front of the house upon relocating. Damien, however, spawned elsewhere on the lot and it took me a good minute and a half to find him before I remembered I could right click his portrait.

Isabelle was pleased with her accommodations, though also a bit miffed that they weren’t able to live in the heart of the city. There was a little outdoor juice bar near the bistro she would have loved to be closer to considering I sold her Professional Dive Bar. But her house was gorgeous and the perfect place to usher in a new generation of the family, so I suppose there’s a bit of redemption in that. The heir was still undecided, though. Rather than staying cooped up on their first day in town, Isabelle brought the kids into the city and let them have fun in the square while she scoped out who was who.

The family was clearly not to adjusted to the warmth of Monte Vista as they all promptly popped a wish to go swimming, including Damien who was still on the opposite side of the lot. All except for Edwin in the back there who’s hydrophobic like his father.

Marc stayed home with Rufus and got accustomed to the size of the new house he’d be cleaning.

Monte Vista was a quiet little place it seemed, considering not a single soul appeared at the town square for most of the day. The kids played catch while Marrick sat and contemplated his surroundings a lot and worked with his magic.

Yes, magic. Like Isabelle, Marrick had been making toys disappear from his toddler days, but it wasn’t until he became a teen that he was able to put use to the wand that was put in his inventory. He used the conversion spell on a random seed in his inventory (I honestly don’t know where he got it from) a few times before returning to his ‘Comtemplate Surroundings’ action.

Isabelle’s first thought, amazingly, was NOT to torment innocent bystanders (normally when she leaves the house, she throws up wishes to be mean to this person and that person). She got very chatty with a woman named Emma.

They got along well enough, and Emma didn’t seem to grind any of Isabelle’s gears, so they chatted themselves up into ‘Good Friend’ status before the little family began to disperse. Isabelle and Marrick caught the last movie of the day at the theatre while the triplets headed home on their bikes.

Marc roused himself out of bed long enough to be somewhat useful as he was not interested in being recursed by Isabelle when she got home.

Isabelle set herself to securing a little regular income. With what little Simoleons she had left after buying and decorating the house (and by little I mean about $2300), she went and partered at the Bookstore. That would increase her weekly revenue only by about 50 Simoleons, but no one said a hostile takeover business venture profited big right from the beginning. After that, she purchased a  recipe book to get her closer to her Lifetime Wish of Culinary Librarian.

Speaking of culinary,

All the kids, Marrick included, had taken nicely to the new kitchen. They were particularly fond of mommy’s new Pizza Oven, which quickly replaced the hole in her heart from the sold juice bar. The Triplets specifically seemed to really like sitting at the bar while Marrick preferred eating outside. Marrick was like his father in the sense that he had an almost obscene love for the deep fryer, but it was more forgivable on him as it didn't result in utter neglect of everything else in life.

“Demy, can you paint a picture to hang up in me and Edwin’s room? I want a better moodlet than just ‘Decorated’. Maybe ‘Nicely Decorated’ or ‘Beautifully Decorated’”

“I’m only level 3 painting, Damien, but I’ll see what I can do for you guys.”

The next day, everyone had their respective places to go. Isabelle was out of the house early to get to work, and all four of the kids had school. And that left Marcus and Rufus to their own devices. And by own devices, I mean Marcus cleaning while Rufus laid in the basket crying from boredom.

He managed to finish his work early, way before Isabelle would be home from work, and decided to take his son out for a stroll around
the sunniest parts of town.

The baby seemed to enjoy the scenery and cooed happily as they wandered around town. Everyone seemed to be at work, and as such Marc really didn't meet anyone other than a wandering ghost at whom he put Rufus on the ground and shuddered. But he was glad to be able to spend time with his son. The fact that he was so good to Rufus and not his other 4 children would have enraged Isabelle had she seen them.

She must be getting revenge on him vicariously through Rufus, as the baby cried when they got home and Marc couldn't get in a few zzs before Isabelle got home. Meanwhile, Edwin met a little girl at school by the name of Cipriana Costa, and got invitation to go to her house after school. (Side note: But isn't Edwin just ADORABLE?! I'M DYING)

While I was dealing with Isabelle’s annoying glitch of sinking through the floor at home, Edwin and Cipriana did their homework together, played a little tag and quickly got into friend status.

Cipriana actually turned out to be as much of an angel as Edwin is. Friendly, talkatative, and she even made muffins on her oven and directed Edwin to them. It was obvious to me that this little girl could have a place in the family in the near future.

And then this pudgy little kid appeared with Cipriana in a thought bubble over his head. His name is Orlando Morano---and anyone who comes between Edwin and his happiness is going to be very disliked by Mamma Bear Isabelle. Orlando went inside just as Edwin was told his curfew was coming up, so there wasn't much to do. Edwin was a lover, not a fighter.

After that, life in the Morae household was actually very normal for a while. Isabelle didn’t torment anyone other than Marc, the kids continued their individual skill pursuits, Marc cleaned and Rufus did a lot of crying. Edwin got his inventing skill up to 5, Demelza’s 6 in painting, and Marrick is 9 at the Chemistry Table while Damien has just hit 4 at the chess table. Isabelle had to make up for lost athletic skill and got herself up to 7 so she could continue getting promotions at work. So, as was said, life was relatively normal. At least until she showed up.

Ah, Monte Vista! Welcome to Monte Vista! The room for entire family looks good! Nicely decorated and even more awesome.

Bah---Marc? Still there >:(? I'll keep eye on you.

Nice to know that Isabelle enjoy herself there without being mean to everyone that she met.
Edwin is absolutely adorable! I just grew fond of him since he become a child :P

I'm curious about who is she in the last screenshot... Hmm...

Sorry if you mentioned this already, but will you have a poll for the heir or you've chosen one beforehand?

Anyway, it's nice to see Monta Vista in a story, I get so annoyed by the routing problems I've given up playing there - it really is a beautiful place though and it looks like the kids will enjoy themselves. I'm so glad Marc will be cleaning a huge house!

Monte Vista is gorgeous! I had to save up to get it though. We all know EA charges an arm and a leg for this stuff XD

Yes, Marc is still there. He's gonna be around for a while longer actually. He hasn't even had his adult birthday. Edwin is precious!

There won't be a poll for the heir. I already chose it is and they're actually about to get married in game XD So I'm a bit ahead of the story. Next time though I might consider a poll, but I don't know! It's scary to leave my sim's fate in the hands of the readers XD

Yeah, Monte Vista has quite a few routing issues. Trying to have a wedding party in the town square ended up as a disaster so I will never do that again!

You have no idea how much I laughed at that fact when I realized it, Liv! We're way to much sync, including a shared disdain for Marc.

Because I'm way way way far ahead and I can't really proceed but so far, this is going to be another big update! Multiple posts.

07: The Heir and the Spares

Isabelle sensed the woman’s presence immediately and it woke her with a start. She walked over to Marc and Rufus room, only to see Isadora just putting the little boy down in the crib. Marc slept through the entire ordeal (he must have a hidden heavy sleeper trait)

“I figured you’d come around eventually.”

“Of course I would. I know you try to surprise me Isabelle, but it really doesn’t work. I already know your every move. Including what you plan to do with this child. A line of indentured genie servants, Isabelle? Seems very archaic to me.”

“I told Marc he’d pay. Having a child behind my back---behind the back of a witch with a mean-streak? That was stupidity on his part the fact. And I’ve already started working on a Genie tonic to turn him into the perfect servant—one who can clean and cook with the blink of an eye. Faster than Marc could ever manage”

“I’m not here to stop you from doing that. I’m here to give you your next set of instructions. In case you haven’t noticed, your adult birthday is creeping up on you. You’re not working fast enough, you’ll be out of time before you know it.”

“I know exactly what I’m doing. Marrick is the one I’m waiting on---As soon as he’s figured out the potion on the Chemistry Table, my immortality will be set. I’ll be the matriarch of the legacy for as long as it lasts! No matter what you say.”

“Oh I know. But unless you let me help, Isabelle, it’s not going to happen. And moreover, you won’t be around long enough to find out where the original Morae Legacy started. I’m not going to stop sending letters, and I’m not going to stop appearing. You NEED me.”

Isabelle slowly extracted her wand, “We’ll see about that. I don’t want or need your guidance.”

Isabelle should have thought different. Isadora was a force SimNation didn't want to mess with, and her guidance could be of good use to her. But stubborness was getting in the way.

“You’re nowhere near my level, Isabelle. Now listen: select your heir and hurry along the potion making process. In the meantime, I suggest you start considering an Alchemy Station. You might need it.”

Isabelle could only sigh as Isadora disappeared yet again. It was still beyond her how the woman got in the house to begin with. It was early enough now that she needed to be getting ready for work, and after spinning into her Everyday Wear, she met eyes with Marc who was up and staring in awe.

“What?” Isabelle snapped.

“That woman…her…that was her. The woman who changed me back.”

Isabelle breathed heavily and glanced at the spot from which Isadora disappeared. She glared at Marc, then raised her hand to his face.

“Don’t you dare interact with that woman ever again. Don’t speak of her to the children and if you ever see her again, you tell me right away. She’s bad news, Marc. Even you should be able to comprehend that.”

Marc wasn’t given a chance to speak before Isabelle went back to her room. Whether or not he heard anything about Isabelle’s plans for Rufus was unknown, but the house was quiet after Isadora. The following day, the kids all departed for school and Isabelle went to work. For the next 3 days, the house was full of skill building and getting the kids grades up to where they needed to be. And then, one day before the triplets were to become teenagers, Isabelle informed them all that there would be a family meeting.

Demelza and Damien grew very close very quickly as they got older. As toddlers each of them interacted more with Edwin than each other, but as children, Demelza seemed to enjoy spending time with her timid blonde brother.

“I wish I had more toys in my room. Mom set it up like I’m a teenager already and only gave me an easel.”

“Dems, I think that was Watcher who did that. She knows when you’re going to get older.”

“I don’t know how your grades are higher than mine, Damien. You’re so stupid. Watcher can’t even remember to buy us a birthday cake, you think she decorated my room?! You’re probably going to tell me she picked out this house too. And renovated it to fit all of us.”

“Anyway. I like the weather here. I know mom wants to have a meeting tonight…I hope she’s not telling us we’re moving. I don’t want to move again.”

Later in the evening, Isabelle gathered her Marc and her children for a family meeting.

“Children, it’s time I told you exactly why we moved to Monte Vista. As it stands, Mommy has been working very hard lately on a…project. And it’s a project that required me to come here. Mommy wants to learn about the rest of the family and she can only do that here.”

“But we’re the family. You know all about us, Mommy.”

Isabelle laughed at her youngest son and his naivete, “I mean the family that came before us. But that’s besides the point, Edwin, listen and don’t speak. I’ll deal with learning about the family. What has to happen now, though, is mommy has to select an heir. One of you to take over the family and bring in the third generation of the family. Mommy will never be able to find out everything about the family unless there are 10 Generations of us. That is your great-great-great-great---“

“We get it mommy. You don’t have to work and count out how many greats there are.”

Isabelle sighed a bit, “Anywho, I’ve yet to choose one of you. Though I’ll have to as soon as you all become teenagers. I need you all to get better with your skills and get your Lifetime Wishes in order so I can properly choose.”

And with the meeting over, the kids all went off to perform the perspective activities. Marc and Isabelle, however, stayed behind at the table.

“I heard you that night, Isabelle. What you plan to do with Rufus---turn him into a genie to clean like I do? I won’t let that happen.”

“The fact that you care more about some illegitimate child than your own is WHY this is happening, Marc.  It’s disgusting that the 4 children you fathered mean less to you than the child you had with some tramp. All respect I’ve ever had for you is GONE. I’d like to see you try and stop me---I have plans. For you and Rufus.”

Isabelle left the table and let Marc go back to what he was so good at: Cleaning. Later that evening, Baby Rufus aged into a Toddler. He actually came out quite cute.

And Marc dedicated himself to teaching him how to talk.

Time passed, and the very next morning early before the kids were meant to go to school, Isabelle set up 3 birthday cakes in the courtyard and called for her children to come down in their formalwear. It was a monumental morning in Monte Vista---their next ruler teenager was about to come forth, along with two others that would make the place great.

All three of them turned out to be stunning. Damien, despite his smarts, took on a more jock-like look, letting his hair be long and wavy and sporting a tank-top to help battle the Monte Vista heat. Demelza picked up a slightly rebel look and retreated right to her easel. Edwin…angel he is, really didn’t change much in hair or attire.

(*Note: I did NOT realize his eyes were closed and by the time and now, in game, Damien's an adult so I can't go back and take another shot)

*In a previous chapter I somehow managed to get the triplets traits all mixed up. Here are their ACTUAL traits, randomized as they grew from toddler to teenager. I promise I didn’t change anything, I just listed them wrong the first time.

Demelza Morae: Natural Cook, Vegetarian, Artistic, Neat; LTW Undecided
Edwin Morae: Eccentric, Handy, Hydrophobic, Hot-Headed; LTW: Undecided
Damien Morae:  Genius, Perceptive, No Sense of Humor, Workaholic; LTW: Scientific Specialist

Because of their birthdays, the teens all got the day off from school (save for Marrick) and they proceeded to pursue their individual skills. Isabelle revealed a Scientific Reseach Station for Damien that he promptly began working with, mumbling something about cloning Tiberium one day. The next few days were more skill building and interacting. Soon, it was a couple of days before Marrick's Young Adult birthday and the younger boys had picked up a habit of playing chess together. And it was then that they had most of their conversations.

“Damien, she’s probably gonna pick you.”

“Why would she pick me? I don’t look or act anything like anyone else in the family.”

“And Demmy and I do? I electrocute myself and Demelza is covered in paint all the time. We’re all unique, but you’re the smartest. I promise you, Mom’s gonna pick you to be heir.”

“Not unless she picks Marrick. He’s mom’s favorite.”

“Mom doesn’t play favorites. She loves all of us.”

Another day passed by and Marrick’s young adult birthday was quickly approaching. Isabelle had to decide on an heir before then so that, if it was Marrick who was selected, she could urge him to get right on producing an heir. And moreover, she could start setting her kids up to move out when they got old enough and leave only the heir within the walls of the house. She called her kids together into the Living Room, and before she herself arrived, the teens got into a discussion.

“This is it, Damien. Your heirship is about to be secured.”

“Edwin…”

“What are you two even talking about?” Demelza piped in, “You’re crazy if you think mom’s gonna pick slow minded Damien to be heir.”

Marrick sat next to his little sister and a sigh escaped his lips, “Dems, don’t call Damien slow.”

“Sorry. But let’s be honest here! Mom’s not gonna pick any of us if Marrick is still alive. She’s her baby and her personal chemist. She’s got no use for the rest of us. We were all just spares!”

Edwin promptly responded and Damien tried to intervene. But Marrick simply sat there, quietly hoping the whole thing would end quickly. As a kid, he’d never expected to have 3 younger siblings, nor did he imagine that mom was going to follow the archaic system of naming an heir. Ever since he was a kid, he happily did whatever mommy told him. But now he learned that mommy who loved him so much had a hidden agenda. As he sat there thinking all this, another sigh escaped his lips. What was she doing? And why did it come down to selecting an heir. She wasn’t selecting an ‘heir’. She was picking favorites. And whether she chose Marrick or not, that wasn’t right.

Isabelle came in and all three of the triplets quieted themselves right on the cusp of Demelza declaring Damien as ‘blonde sheep’ of the family. Isabelle sat down.

“Pointless bickering does not look good on any of you.”

The children all sat in obedient silence.

“I’ve thought about it. My birthday is tomorrow, Marrick’s is in two days. It’s time to choose one of you to be my heir. And I’ve thought long and hard. You all have your redeeming qualities about you and I love each and every one of you in exactly the same way, but in the end, I can only chose one. And it’s not out of favoritism…it’s about the advancement of the family.” Isabelle shot Marrick a look that made Marrick look away. Just like a mother to know exactly what their child is thinking and how they feel.

Isabelle stood up and looked at all four of her children. All brilliant and unique, and then she motioned for one to stand.

“Edwin, you are my heir.”

Awww, all of these children are adorable! And it's beyond the words  ;D
And I love the interaction especially when they talk about "Great" thing. That was cute!

What is Mac teaching Rufus anyway, teaching him to walk with high heels ::) ?
Edwin and Demelza is my favorite in teenage years XD

But, I dislike her attitude even she being honest that still will be hurt Damien feeling.

Oh, oh it hard to choose because two of them is awesome!

Congratulations Edwin ♥
