Although Metro has ruled that it's technically ok, just remember that these adopted children will have to remain in the Dynasty house all of their natural lives.  If you're at or past the mid point in your Dynasty, it could pose a problem by taking up a slot in the house with an unnecessary Sim that you will need later to complete the challenge.

Pam makes an excellent point, everyone. Adopting is really going to add another layer of difficulty on top of an already pretty difficult challenge.

Do multistep opportunities count as 1 BlackOp or however many steps there are?

If you're referring to something like the string of opportunities for the Omni Plant, each one counts as an individual opportunity.  Same with the Simbot opportunity.  I can't think of any other multi-step opportunities.  Also note, the Simbot opportunity is bugged in Bridgeport.  After doing all the steps, you don't get the option on the inventing table to actually make the Simbot.

I just checked this tread and realized what I have done!!! No Metro, I didn't ask for your permission and I made a huge mistake. For some reason I believed that only heirs have to be naturally concieved in house so I gave Agness a child like this not even considering it could conflict the dynasty rules (cause she is not part of dynasty blood line). Rules are clear, but my mind wasn't when I made that decision.
It's good that I didn't go too far with this attempt and I'm the only one to blame. Rachel thank you for bringing this up early enough, it would be so hard to realize that I made such a mistake later in game. Sorry for missunderstanding everyone :(

Yea, I thought of this as well. I'm currently just planning some things out, with on the one hand the story I wish to go with, and on the other hand the playability of that storyline. It'd be a disaster to get stuck in the middle because non-immortal sims aren't dying fast enough (not meant so cruel, but you know what I mean) and there are no more slots for new partners and children.

Another question about BlackOps. The rules say they can be Career, Skill, or Special Opportunity. What exactly qualifies as Special Opportunity? Not the Celebrity ones right? I'm a bit at a loss what it refers to.

Special Opportunities are Celebrity ones, but also Neighborhood Grillatron, Chess Tournament, Amateur Olympics. But if you count one of them as BlackOpp, no other immortal can't even accept them.

Anuska is correct.  Celebrity opportunities are considered Special Opportunities.  Another that comes up under that same category is the Oh My Ghost opportunity.  You'd need to be careful with this one and not use it on any of the mortal family because it counts as extending their lifespan, which is against the rules.  And since even house members who aren't family still have to live and die a natural death, they wouldn't be able to have that opportunity either.  So, in summary...  don't use the Oh My Ghost special opportunity.  You may, however, use the Celebrity special opportunities.  Just keep close track of them because if one is a Black Op, no other Immortal may do the opportunity at all.

Thanks for the replies! I didn't know those neighbourhood ones counted as Special Opportunities as well!

What I do when counting BlackOps or accepting new opportunities, is to accept only ones related to the SuperMax skill of the immortal in question and the career of that immortal. For example if the first gen's SuperMax is Gardening and career is Science, then I only count opportunities from those aspects. It's obvious that no other immortal will get those opportunities, because none other (most likely) will gain Gardening or be employed in Science career. You can do special opportunities and not get confused by doing the Olympics opportunity with the Athletic immortal, the Grillathon with the Cooking immortal etc.

You can also just use the online spreadsheet to keep them all straight.  ;D

Yep, and I forgot to mention that. ;D Great job, Pam. I love using it. :)

Anushka, it's okay. No harm done. As I've (and Pam) already stated, if players want to adopt into the Immortal Dynasty house when the bloodline is not affected at all, fine. They're only making things more difficult, and it's hard to argue with that. The bloodline is what's important here. Immortals must result from natural pregnancies.

Thanks Metro, I felt really bad about it. I can finally continue Dynasty and start new challenge cause I managed to patch game after getting OL SP. Before that EA Downloader was claiming I was up to date but couldn't install any of downloaded lots.

I can think of one multi-step opportunity: a Celebrity opportunity called "Best Food In Town". You get a call asking you to dine at the bistro, and then when you do that, you get another call telling you "Now go promote the restaurant to three other Sims". You don't get credit for the opportunity until after you do that, and it's all under the same title, so I considered it one opportunity when I did it.
