...and while I've also been writing them down and checking them off like that, I simplified things for myself by having the immortal candidates only accept skill opportunities related to their supermax skill, so I shouldn't have to do a lot of cross referencing to see "is that someone else's black op?" when something pops up. School and celebrity opportunities are never black ops in my dynasty, on the assumption that everyone will eventually get most of them.
I accept opportunities of all kinds, but put them in separate lists. When it comes time to eat ambrosia, I only use opportunities listed under their supermax skill unless they have less than 6. That's when I head over to the other lists - they're my back ups.

You may have a problem here, but I'm not sure.  Are your Sims actually completing the opportunities that you put in the lists?  Then you select the ones you want to use for credit when it's time for Ambrosia?  If your Sim is completing every opportunity that comes up and you don't use it for a Black Op, that opportunity cannot be used as BlackOp for anyone else.  It's like the SuperMax skills.  If anyone maxes a skill, that skill cannot be a SuperMax skill.  But there can be some overlap of skills that are not SuperMaxed for anyone.  Opportunities can be completed by more than one Sim, but then it cannot be a BlackOp for anyone.

I'm glad you explained that to me Pam! I had been completing all of them.
I was under the impression that the 6 black ops had to be unique to the other sims black ops, not completely unique to any other opportunity.
But I'll stick to just career/skill based ones now, and make sure I don't use any of the ones I've got written down as any future sims black ops.
Luckily my generation two has only just become a teen, so I haven't completed a whole heap of opportunities.
Thanks for that :)

I don't think I am understanding things very well...I thought I was but I am not. I'm getting that tick tick tick time is bassing, I think I have everything but do I? Panic thing kick in. For the opportunities, those are the 'go dance for 6 hours' or 'go eat at the restaurant' or 'bring cookies to the kiddies' things right? And how do you know when you've maxed out a self-employed job?

Yes, those are opportunities.
Reaching level 10 of a self-employed job is much the same as reaching level 10 in a standard job. Also, the progress bar turns yellow-ish.

Your current level will be shown on the employment tab.  You also will have received notifications in the upper right corner each time you advance a level.

Hello all!

Thank you for all your help so far, questions abound and I only hope I'll get good enough at this to manage to answer questions for other newbies as well. I think I am about to make my first immortal. After of course, she buys her properties (One property and one building right?) It might be right in time as well because she is nearing the end of her little thing, somehow I managed to get her to the top of the fishing career thing by the age of 86, which was veeery hard. I don't think I'll be doing self-employed again if I can help it. I just wanted to know if she gets all her stuff together, is she allowed to have the death flower before she learns to make and finally eats the ambrosia?

You need one building and one property, yes. But the property needs to be fully upgraded to level 3.
I'm not actually sure about having the deathflower before ambrosia - you'll have to wait for someone else to clarify that part, sorry.

I believe Pam has anwered that in another thread.
You must eat Ambrosia before a Deathflower can be placed in your inventory. You can stockpile deathflowers though -- my 1st gen. was nowhere near ambrosia when he had accumulated around 9 deathflowers.

Seabody is right - the sim must qualify for ambrosia and eat ambrosia before getting the deathflower.  In the Clan Douglas Dynasty, I just kept the deathflowers on the ground near the house until the first Immortal was ready to get one.  After that, he kept them all in his inventory and doled them out as succeeding generations earned the right to carry them.

I haven't been updating as much due to playing the game and having health issues. Everything is done. I think. I might have to build a special Ambroisia kitchen or something and store the death flowers in there. Either way, the thing that is killing me is the updating the property thing. You have to build and buy a bunch of stuff on the lot right? To be able to update it once you've purchased a property?

You have to buy the lot then add whatever it says you need to advance a level of stars.

I think I just had a successful rebuild and managed to save all of my Immortal Museum Pieces, so far Immortal Number 2 has got all of her Portraits in her new room plus her two Sculptures. Think I lost a Maxed Certificate for one of the Spares though.  :-\

Yes, once you've purchased it, when you click on the lot it will have the option "Real Estate". You can click on "Check Upgrade Requirements" so you know exactly what you have to do to upgrade the lot.
You then choose "Build on this lot" or "Buy on this lot".
It's not too hard to do, it sometimes just takes a lot of money.
When the property I'm upgrading seems to have too much on it, I just make a basement on that property and fill it with the required things. That way, they never have to be seen, but they contribute to the total value of the property.

Also, I have a question of my own. When calculating the value of your immortal dynasty, what have people done? Have they jotted down the price of everything and calculated it by hand or on spreadsheets? Or is there a different way that people have calculated the final value of the portraits, ice sculptures and paintings?
