Personally, I don't see why not, but I'm not part of the team.

@hazelnut (and @Deklitch too now): to my surprise no one has really brought up "couples' photos" in general. After, uh, painstakingly plugging each kind of subject into search (which only shows the latest time it was mentioned on a thread, ugh!) I found exactly one official statement that sorta/kinda confirms that subjects that intrinsically involve more than one sim are alright. Or at least "Sims Sparring" is alright but I don't see what necessarily makes "Lovers at X" different in that case. Sneaky but whatever!

Alright I want to nip the photo subject question in the bud once and for all. There's no good list of valid subjects (I've tried) and this is my best guess. This list may be updated especially because I am getting my info largely from the Sims Wiki. It's a good source but some subjects seem to be questionable if always triggered by a sim or not. If something doesn't seem right, bring it up. I'm listening.

Valid Museum Photo Subjects (by collection)

  • Superstar
  • SuperCop

Thank you Trip.

From memory, Child being Carried was ruled to be ok for the child and not the person doing the carrying, I think that was the ruling from someone in the past.

There is also one called 'Big Air' or similar with (I believe) the Ambitions photographs. It was one which featured a sim jumping on a trampoline, I may be wrong, but I believe that one was counted in the past. :)

Thanks, Trip! :)

I think 'Wandering Ghost' should probably also be included under the same conditions as the other ghost pics.
Add 'Shower in a Can' to the Travel collection?  The photo needs to be someone using it.
'Sleepover Fun' might register with a single Sim in shot but I've not tested it yet.

Also, 'Pleading to the Sphinx' is ridiculously undervalued as well as being risky to get.  Why bother?

Note that you don't need to have an expansion installed to get the associated photos to register. (I first discovered this in the Life States Dynasty.)  The photo lists must be on a base-game patch.

@hazelnut: good commentary. I was unsure if "Wandering Ghost" would register for playable/active ghosts but if it does then it's another subject. I haven't tried the sleepover one either (no sim kids in my dynasties yet...yikes!)

I'm pretty sure Will Goole got all of the ghost photos with family members.

Yes, just confirmed that Wandering Ghost does work with playable ghosts in the active household.

@Trip: OK, so this is weird.  I discovered by accident that a toddler learning to talk registers in the camera interface as 'Talking Bird'.  Testing showed that it happened consistently,  So I went to have a look at the game code – and it seems to be deliberate!  'Talking Bird' is actually any pet plus the 'Teach to talk' or 'Talk with' interaction and the 'Baby Pet' category includes babies, toddlers and children of any species.

I checked to see whether chatting with a toddler or a child talking would register as 'Talking Bird' but they don't seem to.

I also went back to a save from when Mercedes, Austin and Morris were all toddlers to see whether I could get 'Baby Animals' or 'A Zoo' with human toddlers (which seems quite appropriate to me ;) ).  Neither photo registered.  So why does 'Talking Bird'?

And should it count as a museum photo?

@hazelnut: I tested it in my game and yup, apparently toddlers are birds now. It's not the most high-valued, exploitative subject and EA's not gonna fix it at this rate, plus it still needs your sim to make it register. But I would have been nice and given you the go-ahead if it was only your bug too. ;)

The discussion about the Toddler Learning To Speak registered as bird talking photograph made me come up with the following: ...with apologies to Bobby Day

Teachin' Toddlers - Tweet Tweet Tweetity Tweet
All of the Simmies, all day long are teaching their toddlers to tweet this song
In Sunset Valley, Twinbrook too, they are tweeting away as they're no longer a nooboo
Teachin' Toddlers Tweet Tweet Tweetity Tweet
Teachin' Toddlers Tweet Tweet Tweetity Tweet
Teach those Toddlers to speak on a Saturday night

I always think of 'Rockin' Robin' as a Jackson Five song  :-[.
