Okay, folks. Listen up. This whole issue of "do my immortals have to be married?" and "do my spouses need to live in the house?" is starting to wear thin on me. Pam and I had a pow wow last night and it was decided that as long as players follow the explicit rules, then you're fine. Yes, there is no rule specifically stating that an immortal needs to be married. And yes, there's no rule specifically stating that spouses have to live in the house. I guess I'm just old-fashioned and assumed that players would make that leap as to what needed to be done. I'm sorry I wasn't more specific, guys. It's a little late to now to change a rule like that, so if someone wants to do it the old-fashioned way — you marry, then the spouse moves in, great. That was always my intent. If someone wants to change things up for variety, hey — go for it. As long as you follow the rules, I'm okay with it.

Thank you I do apologize for being so irritating and tiresome. I would like to assure you that it will not happen again but I will most likely be irritating and tiresome again in the future  ;)
Now if someone could let me know how they keep their immortals entertained and stop them from gaining skill points in other areas I would be grateful.

Thanks for making this issue more clear, I was wondering if I just broke a rule or not.

I don't care about weddings so I might as well let them get married first but it's more important now after Late Night - with the rate my neighbourhood is turning into vampires I need to move in a spouse as soon as possible before they get turned and that might mean before the immortal becomes young adult if that is allowed.

I posted in technical board an issue with missing tags in map view. There is no tag for buildings, collectables, celebrities, opportunities, adventures nor ghosts (and I used to track all of them). More details are in that tread but here I plead Metro for green light to use previous save. (and wouldn't mind special effect from Sphinx but can do without it ;D).
As for spouses - spouse is by definition married partner, so there was no confusion for me, plus dynasty itself is conservative term (at least I associate it like that) so it was only natural to assume to have spouses married in. Now I got confused, it seems that only difference is that instead of "propose marriage/get married/try for baby" you can chose to go with "move in/try for baby". Not much of a variation.
Rachel, it's not easy to keep them amused. But they should have everyday task related to their supermax skill or something neutral as collecting, plus some gaming options you can have like PS or gnubb, or playing instruments depending on your skill strategy.  Limit access to skill building objects and send them to clubs as often as you can :D I'll have to lock fridge and stove since one heir already got 1 level in cooking, and gave up on logic since they played chess on computer!

I keep a computer and chess set in a locked room that only my logical Sim can get in to. I gave my other Sims the cheapest computer to play games and socialise on. It does not have the option to play chess on it.

@Anushka, I'm glad you posted here because I do not frequent the Tech board too often. Yeah, you've got the green light to go to a previous save.

Rachel, I haven't had a problem with this.  Late Night has been a real boon for my dynasty, with the 4 new skills and the ability to form bands and jam together.  All my immortals have taken up an instrument, and when I don't know what else to do with them, I just have them jam together.  They have a lot of fun doing it and it keeps them busy for hours.  Also, I figure it doesn't matter if they get a couple of points in another sim's supermax skill - anything short of level 10 is fine, and it takes a lot of time to get to level 10.  A couple of mine have a bit of cooking skill, and when I catch them watching cooking cable, I just switch to another channel.  Another thing that has worked well for me is making all the later generations bookworms.  When they have nothing else to do, they tend to pick up a book and read, and they never choose skill books.  They'll happily reread the same novel over and over.

I'm thinking of making a Mixologist, is it against the rules for Immortals to drink the Life Fruit drinks?

Hello!  I am late to the party, but I wanted to chime in and say that I am about to start my second attempt at this fine challenge.  My first was going well, but my computer was not - severe screen flicker and a sudden windfall of extra money sent me to the store yesterday for a new laptop, and I splurged on Ambitions also (I have WA already; however, I prefer careers to socializing, so I may pass on Late Night).  Now, if I can just get the games downloaded, installed, and patched, I'll be on my way again.

My family's name is Pinyin, after the original Eight Immortals (I do hope that's not considered disrespectful).  One pro tip I learned from the last go around: don't have your founder try to marry Xander Clavell.  He has Commitment Issues and terrible traits, and his genetics aren't as good as you might think based on how he looks before you can get a close-up of him.  On the other hand, he did live to be 100 days old and did a great job painting pictures despite not being artistic, so it worked out in the end, but I'll probably have He Xiangu pick a different beau this time around.

Hi Revolution.  Welcome to the forum, and as you say, welcome to the Immortal party!  Pinyin sounds great to me.  Good luck with your Dynasty.

Welcome, revolution. I'm so glad you posted about your dynasty family. I'd never heard about the Chinese Eight Immortals, so I looked it up and learned something new today.

Thanks!  I have a great respect for Taoist philosophy, so it's meant to honor them.
