@ Squark

The age bug caused by toadified is from Alchemy.  Sometimes when you are trying to make an elixir, you fail to make it and becomes toadified.  Just use the cure elixir the same day and you will be fine.

Changing sims outfit or hairdo with a wardrobe aging problem was fixed, it was a bug several patches back, but EA fixed it, you are ok to use the wardrobe.

The makeover will lengthen lifespan, thus it is banned for this dynasty.  You can still pursue the stylist career, but just don't give makeover to anybody in your household that has life extention restriction.

And Best Friends being counted for the, I imagine?

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure I didn't have to roll back to before the alchemy accident happened before I played any further.

Oh, a few quick questions about the Best Friends requirement; People within the household are fine, as long as they're only counted for this immortal, correct? So, hypothetically, my Founder could be best friends with his spouse, Immortal #2, Immortal #2's spouse-to be and parents, and a pet? (Granted, I expect I probably won't go with this exact layout, but you get the idea. Just making sure how many best friends I'll have to have outside the house now, before I need to make a mad dash for friends.

Having household members as best friends is fine and there's no requirement for any amount of best friends to be outside of the household.

Squark,

Since you have Supernatural, and depending on your alchemy skill, you could theoretically just throw Jars of Potent Friendship at people too. I would recommend, if you go this route, make sure you have a small surplus on hand. Sometimes, things happen.

Could I get a clarification on the Best Friends requirement? Does it require that no other immortal be Best Friends with that Sim ever, or just that any one Sim can only count once for the requirements?

@Squark

Found a post by Metro on this subject, copy and pasted it here:

Just to clarify on the Best Friends requirement — immortals can share Best Friends, but they can't share the best friends that they claim for Ambrosia. So, immortal A has 10 Best Friends, and immortal B also 10 Best Friends. Immortal A claims 1-6 for Ambrosia and no one else has these as Best Friends, but 7-10 can be shared as long as those BF are not claimed by others for their Ambrosia.

Gotcha. I was reading through some of the other dynasty requirements, and while I know some of them are different, I know I've misunderstood things before (At first I thought Lifetime rewards in this challenge worked the same way Bests friends do).

Okay I'm now getting a horrid feeling I've misunderstood this ruling, before I started I read through quite a bit of this thread, to be honest the beginning is confusing as rules were being clarified left right and center and it does muddle the brain a bit.

But a question from Schipperke got this answer from Metro and that led me to believe I could have each Immortal use their parent as a best friend as long as nobody else in the family used that same person, but now I'm thinking I totally misread it.

Yes, as long as family members are listed in the Best Friend range in your relationships tab and as long as you're not doubling up family members across multiple immortals, then you're fine. For example, your Founder is Best Friends with his daughter (a future immortal I'm assuming). When it comes time for the daughter to eat Ambrosia for the first time, she cannot claim the Founder as a Best Friend for her own requirement.

Now this is where I'm starting to think I went wrong there, gen 2 counted her mother as a best friend, then gen 3 counted his mother. My founder is best friends with both so have I messed up there because although only gen two counted her should gen 3 have not become a best friend with her as well? Also my founder counted her spouse who was also best friends with his daughter so did the daughter negate the spouse as a best friend?

Hope I've worded that in an understandable way. I'll be disappointed if I have messed it up after all this time as I'm on gen 8 now but well misunderstandings happen.

I haven't even started playing Immortal Dynasty yet, but I just found this post for Squark as he is asking about best friends, was in page 215.  Maybe the rules did change after this post?  Will have to get confirmation from the team on this.

I know, it is a little confusing. :) Heck, sometimes I get confused!

The whole Best Friends thing can be a bit confusing because of the "claiming" thing. The claiming thing comes into play for Ambrosia requirements and those BF need to be unique — i.e. no other heirs can have those BF. But, if no one claims a certain Sim as a BF for their requirements, then everyone can be BF with them.

Okay so then technically I got that wrong right at the start with the founders spouse being best friend of both wife and daughter, bugger.

Still in some ways I'd rather that than to go 8 generations then do something wrong right at the very end, okay so it's not HoF but I shall finish it regardless, and I learnt such a lot I think any new attempts will go much better.

Now I'm confused. I askes Rica about this on page 265:

Quote
When it comes to counting best friends, is it a matter of no generation can have the same best friends, or they can but just can't count them?
For example, Gen 1 uses the spouse as a best friend. Is it okay for Gen 2 to become best friends with that parent so long as it isn't counted towards the requirements?

And she said that was correct at the time. Has it changed or was that wrong?
From the moment I fell down that rabbit hole I've been told what I must do and who I must be. I've been shrunk, stretched, scratched and stuffed into a teapot. I've been accused of being Alice, and of not being Alice, but this is my dream. I'll decide where it goes from here.

Yeah I see the confusion now. I do not want to go back and say Rica was wrong. I guess I interpret the rule slightly differently. I basically look at it as the 6 BF that are "claimed" have to be unique — i.e. those 6 Sims cannot be BF with any other Immortal. If I said differently elsewhere I apologize. But if everyone wants to look at it as as long the 6 claimed ones are different, then there's more overlap that's okay.

Okay I just went and read page 265, I started my current dynasty in February, counting all the false starts previous to it would make it around January when I began trying I guess so a month after Rica posted that which while I can't claim I read every page of this before the start I know I read the beginning and end. Which probably explains why I thought it was okay to do it how I did.

This to me is where the confusion lies, in my case anyway, in the rules the word unique is not used just the word different, if it said unique I would have interpreted it like the other things as only that immortal can have that best friend, but different sounds more like they can't both claim the same best friend.

Quote
6. Have 6 different Best Friends (must be different Best Friends of other immortals) at the time of eating Ambrosia for the first time. So, that means if your potential immortal has one of the 6 Best Friends die the day before Ambrosia is to be eaten, then it’s time to start knocking on doors for a new Best Friend. If someone is listed in the Relationship Panel as an Old Friend, the relationship strength may still be as strong as a Best Friend. Just see where the Sim falls in relation to other nearby Best Friends — friend strength falls from highest to llowest. Anyone/anything can qualify as a Best Friend, including spouses, household members, cars, and Imaginary Friends. Don’t worry if friendships deteriorate after Ambrosia has been eaten.

The Life States rule is very clear about this.

Quote
1). Have 1 Best Friend that is not a household member and is a non-Normal life state (i.e. vampire, stray animal, ghost). This Best Friend must be unique to the qualifying heir and not a Best Friend to any other household member.

But if everyone wants to look at it as as long the 6 claimed ones are different, then there's more overlap that's okay.

So would this mean my dynasty is still eligible for HoF?

I believe so, Turoskel. I apologize for any confusion.
