Am I liable to break my dynasty file if I was to uninstall Uni? the nerds are driving me nuts, not sure I can take another four generations of them berating each other.

Nobody has been to uni it's just the social groups and extra traits which I didn't really want or need anyway, I don't know if it's a good idea to remove an ep mid game though as I've never done it. I have one sim using a hairstyle and clothing from it but she is due to be an old lady in a couple of days so I was debating uninstalling after her birthday but not if it will break my game.

Technically you're liable to break your Dynasty File if you uninstall anything. The only safe way to uninstall something is to either A) Use ErrorTrap or B) use resetsim * before uninstallation (remember to save your game after resetsim'ing). This is because if a Sim is interacting with a University object when you uninstall the EP, the game will fail to load. Since A is out of the question unless you have permission from the Challenge Team, you have to use resetsim. Other than that, make a backup of your The Sims 3 folder, make sure anything valuable is backed up, and store your bags in the overhead lockers. If uninstalling University does cause problems, you have backups of your Dynasty so you can reinstall it.

Hair and Clothes shouldn't cause problems, it's usually the objects that cause corruption in data.

Useful tips, thanks Seabody, the resetsim thing didn't occur to me but yes I can see the point as many townies have and use megaphones and you never know if somebody might be ranting somewhere.

I wish in some ways I had played around with it a little longer before I went back to my dynasty game, then I would never have let founders hubby play all those computer games and start this nerd invasion  ::)

It took 3 days for my teens to go from birthday to getting a new trait just from interacting with family, it's way too fast to level and impossible to decay unless they never speak to anybody ever again.

Which brings me to another question, how would I stand within the current rules if I removed Uni as it would remove those extra traits which we are not supposed to alter? I don't know perhaps I'm safer leaving things alone but I'm just not finding my family much fun right now because of this.

I am not sure about this so asking to clarify.

If I have painted and placed the immortal paintings, am I allowed to move them around in later generations?

Most definitely, just make sure not to lose them or sell them by mistake.

:)

Also another question, I've searched for this but couldn't find the answer. My founder is a cook and I want to make and store a horde of ambrosia, life fruit and deadfish. How to store them? I've read that ambrosia can be stored in the nectar cabinet but what about life fruit and death fish?

I don't think ambrosia can be stored in nectar cabinets, but they can be stored in WA chests and alchemy cabinets from Supernatural. I've heard that they don't go bad in WA chests.

If someone has 50,000 LTHP to blow, you can also buy a food replicator and replicate the ambrosia. There is a trick to it, as you have to stop the cooking process when they're stirring the ingredients in a bowl and replicate the food from the bowl.

All of them can be stored in a chest from WA. I personally store mine in an upgraded Food Replicator, and since I have only two immortals and eat it weekly, I don't run out often.

This probably seems like a ridiculous question and I apologize for it, but... where do you find the information about how long a family has been going, like in Sim weeks?  I know where the scrapbook is and all that, but it only lists romances and their lengths.  I'm sure it's somewhere obvious and I know I'm gonna feel like an idiot when someone tells me, but this has been bugging me so I thought I'd ask.

WA cabinets? I'll check that out. Do I need to visit a destination to get them? I read about the food replicator process but it seems kinda too complicated at the moment with just one immortal.

Ambrosia in a replicator is easy.   Just requires watching your Sim make it.

WA chests are acquired from travelling yes.   Alchemy Cabinets also work which can be bought from buy mode if you have Supernatural.

The ambrosia trick is actually the very first post in the tips thread.
