Crap!

I failed my dynasty five generations in due to a player mistake! I forgot to tell either Samhain or Screwtape to eat their ambrosia. Instead, Sheila came out to haunt and ate it instead.

Just...crap. :(

Oh man :-\

If it helps at all, it may be that you didn't forget to tell them to eat it, but when they set the plate down, they didn't have the hungry moodlet, so wandered off. I had a near failure because of that (Valor wandered off instead of eating his ambrosia, and I caught Charity's spouse just as he was sitting down).

Rooting for you still!

Nah, I remember having Samhain replicate the ambrosia. I always have to direct my sims to eat it after they replicate it, and I'm usually vigilant about that since I had the wonderful idea to put all of the urns in the ambrosia room and I'm paranoid as all heck. Alas, absent-mindedness runs in my family. :-\

Weirdly enough, Sheila's ghost ate it at about 10 AM, and usually my ghosts have the good grace to go back to the other side by then.

If the urn is on a pedestal, the ghost will never jump back in, but instead wanders around for all of eternity.

So sad to hear about the fail! I was reading, even if I never commented. Best of luck with the next one!

If you place a Chinese till, will it have the Martial Arts equipment or is that different than the nectar machines?

There is no such thing as a chinese register.  General store registers only work in travel locations, book registers will give you the books for the world you're in (so you'll get bookstore books in SV or Chinese books in China), food registers will give random food.  The nectary was the only one that is labeled nectary and if placed on a random lot I don't think it will actually sell nectar just the holders and the machines.

I just found this challenge the other day and want to give it a try, but have some doubts:

1.-  It last around 60 sims weeks, rigth?
2.- The use of the science machine to clone ingredients... is that considered homeground?
3.- What if the source of the fish/fruit was a poisonous apple changed by a witch?
4.- Can a witch resurrect some/all the starting tombs of the cementery?
4.- I know i can place the Nectary and the Alchemy shop from base game but, can i remove a empty residence lot to place them? Or i must add a new lot?

Sorry if any was responded before, i didn't readed all the 317 pages entirely (but maybe 80-90)

1 - The shortest one so far was done in 41 and a half weeks.  It all depends on how fast you choose to play it.
2 - No homegrown means that it was planted and harvested.
3 - Fish has to be caught and Life Fruit has to be planted.   Part of the challenge is getting these things done.
4 - A witch can rez them if you want to.
5(4) - This is covered in the rules - the answer is yes.  Not to mention there is an entire post dedicated to Edit Town that's linked in the rules called Rica's post.

Welcome to the forum!   The most important part of the thread is the last 90 not the first 90.  Please remember to check on this thread often as rule changes and rulings are made regularly and it's in the rules to keep up to date with what's going on.   If you have any more questions, never hesitate to ask.

Thanks for the quick response and for the welcome. I had bookmarked Carls guide of sims medieval for ages but din't realize there was another for sims3 until i googled something about university herbs last week.  :-[

About the thread, i readed pages 1-10, 300-317 and some in the middle (20, 40, 60, ... 260, 280) if i found something interesting kept reading 1 or 2 more pages.

Yes, the edit town thread i've readed but didn't explicity say if you must create new lots or you can destroy some unused (like many residential ones)... or maybe it says it in a obscure manner. edit: indeed, is the first sentence  :o  :-[

I have read also few of the tips&tricks post and they keep saying you should clone meals with food replicator so i got to think "why clone meal and not the fish and fruit directly?"... well, maybe because that was written before last EP so that's why i asked.

So let's say i fish the real fish and plant the real fruit. Then instead of cook one ambrosia and clone it 60 times like they say, i was going to clone the fish 60 times and the fruit 60 times and later cook 60 meals. It seems more fair and less cheating to me.

Now i must to rethink some stuff.

This challenge was originally written right after Ambitions and before Late night.    That means we're talking about what's an option from way back then.

The reason we say it has to be homegrown and caught (by Sim or pet) is because that's part of the challenge of making it through the first generation with all the tasks.  Not only the requirements but going through the struggle of getting ambrosia made on top of that.

So if founder and first heir do it the way you say, can a science machine be used, let's say, 20 sims weeks after the begining of the challenge? Or maybe banned until third generation reach young adult?

For me, get one or two fruits&fish a week is not so hard. The problem is micromanaging to get 4-5 every week.

As long as the first ambrosia is made with caught fish and grown life fruit you're fine.  if you choose to clone that fruit and fish before making the ambrosia, that is your choice.   Don't forget that two fish in a fish tank, if you have it from one of the expansions, SPs or store, can reproduce to make more too.

By the way - Ambrosia doesn't need to be eaten more than once every three weeks logically.  I did it every week but then again I also had 3 replicators by the end of my dynasty so getting more was a lot easier.   Gardening kept one sim busy so I always had life fruit available and fishing kept the cats busy so I always had deathfish.

Ah, sounds fine to me then.

I was planing on make a hidded basement with the bookself door and only founder give permision to open it. Then each sunday there is a secret meeting where inmortals eat their ambrosia and, if it's the case, some mortal wohoo with the heir.
