When loading up the game, having just installed University Life, can we allow the new venues/lots to be placed automatically (I seem to remember that happening before, and it seemed a lot neater) or do we have to place the entirely new lot, then put the venue on top of that?

None of the lots that are allowed from University Life will auto place.   You will have to open University in Edit Town in a different game to save the lots to your bin and then place them yourself when you load your dynasty for the first time.  These lots are not required for dynasty play.   They do not help in anyway to further the goals of the dynasty so you don't have to place them if you don't want to.  I find that most times for things like hangouts (like the UL lots), casinos or things of that nature with no real purpose if it annoys me too much to place then it doesn't get placed.   Edit town is about strategy.  Just think about all the possible lots you need to put into a town.  Think of all the expansions you plan to get between the time you start and finish the dynasty.  Make sure to leave room for future possible venues if the buildings aren't 100% needed.

When it says that the portrait must be placed in the museum before a heir ages up, does that mean that the museum must be constructed or could I just put the portrait on the wall and then move it when the museum is actually built?

The portrait must be hanging somewhere or on an easel finished but placed somewhere.  If you leave the painting on the easel during the birthday then that painting can't leave the easel until the game is over type thing.  If you don't hang it, you're choosing to not use that easel again.

So if you haven't managed the money to make the museum that's fine but have the portrait done and ready to go prior to the sparkles.

I just want to confirm something before I go ahead and do something that'll end my current attempt prematurely ... I have been playing my dynasty since installing University Life and prior to the challenge team's most recent ruling on what is/is not allowed. The only thing that I've forfeited is the chance to place those uni lots in my home neighbourhood. I haven't forfeited the right to go to uni and use the unbanned content there if I so desire, have I?

Thank you

Did you actually do any of the content or just have the game installed?  You have forfeited placing the buildings, yes.

I haven't used any of the items from UL, I haven't taken on any of the new traits/ltrs/ltws from uni life (based on the warnings given by yourself earlier in this thread regarding it). I haven't travelled to uni. I just had the game installed. In a new file (totally unrelated to the Victors) I did go to the uni through edit town and looked at the various dorms and houses.

Thanks

I had this bug once before in Bridgeport, and I can't remember if I was able to fix it. If memory serves, I tried everything barring a complete reinstall. I had to start a new game. Is your sim a 5 star celebrity by any chance?

He's only a four-star.

Had this bug once in Sunset Valley. Have you tried looking at your other files to see if you have a lot of items up for consignment? If you have a ton of items up for consignment on another file, then you need to load up that file, cancel all of your consignments, and save.

The only things I consign in any file are elixirs or elixir ingredients. Never actually anything else, and I haven't consigned a time machine or sculpture before.

I would still double check that no one else has any consignments that haven't cleared.  If you consign something after a certain time, there is a very possible bug where the items will never be sold and they will remain past their 5 day mark.  This will cause it to be broken until you cancel them.

If it doesn't work, consignment is not required to finish a dynasty.

So apparently flipping the elixir shop counts towards the Alchemy career. Does it really or is my game broken?

(It's my founder's career and it just feels dirty to do such a thing. She consigned some Vials of Bliss she made along with a Bottled Vampire's Bite she bought a few days prior, and jumped to level seven of the Alchemy career. Dang...)

Alchemy career is really low compared to other skills as I think it only requires §25k to max anyway.  But anything you get at the elixir shop is used in alchemy and that's why it all goes towards the career.  You didn't do anything wrong but it's your choice to keep at it.   There are a lot of tricks out there plus think of it as the midas touch of alchemy ;) A trick I learned from you.   It's a quick solution to the monetary issue and you'll be able to concentrate on something else for the rest of your requirements.

Is an immortal or spare allowed to earn up to two extra traits through graduation from university and the extra trait from a social group?

Thank you Ricalynn, I wasn't going to place any of the buildings, but thanks for clarifying that.

Is an immortal or spare allowed to earn up to two extra traits through graduation from university and the extra trait from a social group?

Graduation only gives you one possible trait. Later diplomas only allow you to change that trait... which makes me wonder if we're allowed to change an heir's or immortal's extra traits from graduation or social groups.

Also, are we allowed to use the Science skill to make a clone of an original townie late in the game (say, for instance, Gunther Goth to act as 5th generation's spouse)?
