I am worried about the possibility of lag and long load times in Bridgeport, although I'm hoping my computer has the power to handle it. Do you mind sharing some brief computer specs, Juxt, so I can get an idea of whether I should expect crazy load times too? You know, processor, ram, graphics, just a few basics? (Or anyone who's tried playing a long dynasty type game in Bridgeport.)

For what it's worth, "Fixed Routing Problems In Bridgeport" turned up in the fix list from patch 1.50 - but I don't have a game going in Bridgeport right now to say how fixed it actually is.

Intel I3 530 processor, NVidia GForce 550 Ti graphics card, 12 gigs of ram, though I've updgraded after I finished my Dynasty.

I haven't played in Bridgeport since the patch, but I'd have to see it to believe it that they sorted out those pathing nightmares, I hope they have, I love the scenary in Bridgeport.

I was rearranging doors that were locked and unlocked due to my 3rd to be immortal becoming a child and needing to lock off the logic stuff from my founder and Gen 2 and I discovered something that I thought was rather exciting.

I no longer need multiple doors into a room if I want only one immortal or one immortal and all the none-immortals, or one immortal and the cleaning non-immortal into the room I can now do it with one door and use the lock > specify sims for this door > drag sim names across to relevant column. So much better than multiple doors into a room. :)

Works on gates as well, certainly makes life easier for this challenge, I was adding extra doors till the patch.

I'm just about to start over once more though as I messed up, just had my founder eat her ambrosia as well, still I learnt so much this try hopefully I will get further with the next one. More disappointed at losing the house than anything as it was starting to look really nice, and I was really pleased with the vacation home I built in China, still I get the fun of doing it all again now and I drew out plans and took screenshots so I can recreate it.

I thought I'd gotten lucky with my Gen 4 heir's babysitter husband - after waiting a couple days for him to age up from Teen, he came over to the house as a YA, and I immediately asked him to move in. According to his Simology, he had 21 days to age up to Adult, but he aged up that night. May I reset him to YA?

No - It's a glitch that the game does.   It's like adopting a Foal that ages up on the way over.  You brought him into the house on his birthday.  The game didn't recognize his birthday was over so when you invited him, the game aged him up again.     This is just one of those things the game does that we have to roll with.  NPCs have always been notoriously buggy for their aging and this falls in line with that.

ARGH!

I think Marvin might have had the worst birthday yet. He threw it at The Grind, very few of his guests showed up, and Charmaine died.

And the worst part? The game forgot to age Marvin up. My sims can have their birthdays at parties without cakes; it happened to Justin when Marv's bachelor party was on his birthday. Can I just quickly rush Marvin home and age him up with a cake from buy mode and try to forget that this happened?

There weren't even any distractions. Charmaine died away from the party, no one else died at the party, and it was mostly a regular clubbing night for Marvin. Next time, I'm buying a cake. :(

EDIT: He aged up as soon as his party was...over? At about 1:30 AM, to be precise. It was Marv's elder birthday, so the "extension" of his life stage is rather ambiguous, or so I want to think.

As I said, I'm buying a cake next time.

EDIT 2: And now my game froze up as I took Marvin to the dresser, possibly warranting a force-close if it doesn't behave. Gah.

EDIT 3: Took half an hour away from my computer to shower. After ten minutes after my shower of seeing if it would come around, it was still frozen at the "Entering Create a Household" screen, and I force-closed the program out of necessity. This whole "OMG Marvin didn't age up!" debacle might be undone, but considering how everything unfortunate that could happen happened between my last save and that, it feels dirty to have to do that. D:

What to do now?

Poor Marvin.  :(   Poor me.  I had a whole thing typed up and lost it.

You crashed.  There's nothing you could have done any different to not crash.   So you start the game file back up and continue.   If the day you go back is the day of the party, Charmaine is going to die anyway so just be prepared.   Don't forget a cake or don't take a cake or just have a party at home.  It's all completely up to you.   The game will always age up a Sim on their birthday.  It just ran a little late.  You at most got 5 extra hours of no bagginess/having muscles.  So it was ok you didn't bring a cake.

My last save was from the day before Marvin's birthday, though, so Charmaine's death isn't guaranteed. It's a double-edged sword; I want her to die to free up household space, but I also want Marvin's elder sculpture.

Thanks for the help. :)

No problem.  Yeah Charmaine isn't guaranteed and I understand the wanting the sculpture yet wanting them to just die already.   The life of a dynasty sculptor so to speak.   Good luck with his second Elder birthday.  If it had been same day - I would have told you to cake up immediately to start the sculpture.  That's just me though.

The game doesn't seem to be saving for me, it doesn't seem to matter if I select Save, Save As or Save and Quit. It doesn't give me an error message. I tell it to save, fill in the options that I need to when I use save as and it allows me to keep on playing. Each time this has happened apart from the time when the game itself crashed I was in Sunset Valley. Most recently the game froze and crashed, and three of my sims were in China. I had one day there, they all appeared and none of their counters seemed affected. Regarding my building practices: I only build on the ground without a foundation. I do use a flat roof and put things I don't want sims to access on the roof. I also build a basement.

I've gone in and deleted a lot of old saved games that I have no intention of returning to as I wondered if it may have been an issue with space available somehow. I've also gone in and created Saved Game R of the Victor Dynasty a few minute ago. That was the fourth or fifth time I've created Saved Game R, but it keeps on disappearing when I return to the game.

Advice/Thoughts?

Since I patched, my game will save but I can't re-open saved files later. I'm not sure if they're connected but I thought I'd mention it. HAs it only been happening since you patched?
