Have 6 different Best Friends (must be different Best Friends of other immortals) at the time of eating Ambrosia for the first time. So, that means if your potential immortal has one of the 6 Best Friends die the day before Ambrosia is to be eaten, then it’s time to start knocking on doors for a new Best Friend. If someone is listed in the Relationship Panel as an Old Friend, the relationship strength may still be as strong as a Best Friend. Just see where the Sim falls in relation to other nearby Best Friends — friend strength falls from highest to llowest. Anyone/anything can qualify as a Best Friend, including spouses, household members, cars, and Imaginary Friends. Don’t worry if friendships deteriorate after Ambrosia has been eaten.

I never thought much about Old friend or Best Friend status before, but now that I'm doing the Immortal Dynasty my sim's Best Friends have all become Old Friends, still with a really high relationship bar. Do Old Friends still count?? Or do I have to make new BF's right before eating Ambrosia?? I'd love some help, it's my first try at a Dynasty and I'm not sure. Thanks!

Looking further I did find several EA buildings that would work, but many others, particularly from LN would not.  It's not a simple matter of buying and remodeling them.  They are high rises and you can't just chop it down small enough to make them work.  However, the Grind, can be, (and has been by me), made to fit and the Fusion Lounge would fit right in.  The rest would not.  Besides, lets say you buy a building with the idea you are going to make it into one of the missing venues.  Aren't you then breaking a rule?  Don't you have to go into Edit Town to do this and that is definitely a no no.

Some of the buildings from Appaloosa springs fit very well also.  For instance, the Dive Bar.

In the beginning we could certainly play a dynasty without any of the newer EP's.  But now that we have them don't we all want to be able to have the careers and opportunities that come with them?  Some times a bit of flexibility is called for in order to make game play more fun.  Yes, you can put in some EA buildings and just by changing the name of the lot you have something different.  For instance, I have the first casino type building that came out.  It has a bar and a pool and lots of games.  So it COULD be a Poolside Club, right?  EXCEPT, once again, you would have to go into Edit Town to change the lot type and this is for an EA building!  So far I have most of the buildings without using UC buildings and without changing lot names:

Dive Bar from AP
Dance Club from BP (the Grind)
Equestrian Center
Horse Ranch, (yay!  There was one!)
Live Venue, Private Venue and Big Venue from ST   haven't found a park yet
Coffee House
Fire Station, (that one was easy, so many to choose from)

I would like the others but can pass on the Exclusive Club, (just one more place to booze it up and dance), definitely pass on the Laundromat, Vampire Club, and local Watering Hole, though I think I can find one of those in TB.  I would so love a disco but the only one I know of that isn't a high rise is that little place in HS that looks like a disco but isn't called a disco.  With the Show Time things in and just a bar or two plus the horsey things I think a dynasty would be very viable even without using UC stuff.

At the very least this has made me think and look further into towns I haven't played much.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Do Old Friends still count??

As long as they still maintain about the same level as Best Friends, then yes. Old Friend just refers to the length of time they've been friendly with your sim.

The Sims in the relationship tab are sorted in order from the best friend first to acquaintances being last.  As long as an Old Friend is located next to a Best Friend and has the same amount of relationship in the green, then it's ok.

You are correct that changing the buildings would be an illegal use of Edit Town.

The simple fact is that you cannot fit every venue and every building from all of the Expansion Packs into one town and still be within the rules of the challenge.  It becomes part of your strategy to decide which town to use and which buildings to add.  It's not a Dynasty buster if you can't do the Mixology skill, for example.  There are many other skills to choose from and you only need eight unique skills to successfully complete the Immortal Dynasty Challenge.  It looks like you're narrowing it down to the things you really want to have, though, and that's the way to do it.

The park to look for from Showtime is Performance Park (Big Park) it's with the others and looks like a field with bushes around the edges and has a stage on one corner.  It's a 30 x 30 lot.

Metro himself has said that if you want to you can can buy a property and add the community buildings from build mode (Not edit town) to place them.   You can't change a community lot type so you wouldn't be able to put in new venues but some of the larger ones can be placed.   For instance, I took the cheap horse ranch from the game and added a real diner so I could possibly supermax Photography in Lunar Lakes.  The property was sold afterwards so it can't be used for immortal requirements but I can now use it for that challenge.  I did the same thing to place the film studio in a previous attempt so I wouldn't have to place the large 64 x 64 lot.

Last night I went into every single town possible and found all the venues I'd want to have.  Yes, some are missing, (Exclusive Lounge for one), but those are basically redundant anyway.  Truly, except for being places of entertainment for the Sims, most of LN venues are really just a place to dance and drink and acquire a few black ops so finding a Disco, (the one in HS really is a Disco but I think it's called a Hangout), a Dive Bar, and a few other goodies filled out what I needed.  Most of the buildings from ST are available and LP has plenty of lots that are commercial.  It was interesting to me to see that when I placed a Big Venue on a lot that was one of the "Visitors" ones, the type of lot automatically changed to what that venue was!  Also, going into the various towns, and I did check every single one, I noticed some of the ST venues were already placed there by the game.  The strangest thing though was finding ST venues but, unlike before, the fire station and salon were NOT placed automatically as before.  Or maybe I just couldn't find them when I looked.

So, to clarify, placing buildings from EA towns only is ok before you start your game?

Do I ask questions about specific dynasty game play here?  My question is, how do you get a townie agree to come live with you if they aren't a romantic interest?  If it's not ok, please ignore it.  Thanks so much for everyone's answers.

Lucky Palms and Lunar Lakes do not automatically place any lots from any of the other expansions unlike the others.  I don't know why but I find it convenient to say the least.

This is the best place to talk about Immortal Dynasty anything.   To get a townie to move in with you, you basically have to become friends with them and do enough friendly interactions with them until the "Ask to Move In" option appears.

I have a question about the purchased property and building requirements. I know the property has to be fully upgraded, and that has been done, but there is an option on the building to "Buy out for $20,000". Do I have to do this as well?

Yes, or you don't own it.  You otherwise are just a "partner".

@ Rica,  thank you!  It didn't work.  Instead she wanted to become a love interest and the move in thing never showed up.

It always appears for me when my sims are "being sociable." It may require better than friends but I have moved in friends.  Having a relationship works too but I've done this a lot just to have "spares" in my dynasty file so no love interest was involved.   Basically I just make sure to do all the ones that go away - Ask About Career, Ask about Alma Mater then Chat, Get to Know, Tell Story.  Somewhere around this point is when it comes up "Ask to Move In."  I hope it works out for you!

I usually get the option for others to 'move in' at around the point of good friends as well.

I am confused by something though. If Union Cove is allowed to be played with the buildings that have been made by the community, why isn't that breaking the rule of "EA-created lots only"?

Don't get me wrong, I love UC and I love playing in it, but it is something that I'm confused by.

Union Cove is a special exception for this challenge because it was made by our Forum members.  It's just something that was decided when Union Cove was created.
