It might not be possible to test because you might not find exactly the same seeds when testing as you do in your official dynasty game file. If you have already supermaxed gardeing in numberous game files then you should have an idea how long it takes.

Not only that, but supermaxing Gardening relies heavily on the opportunity chain that leads to the Omni Plant.  If those opportunities don't come in quick enough, it would be a disaster.  I managed to do it in my Immortal Dynasty with Carina Dreamweaver, but it went down to almost the last minute.  She was close to meeting Grim when she finally got that Omni seed planted.

Gardening is less reliant on the omniplant depending on the expansions you have. My founder supermaxed gardening with steak plants, I believe, with the carrots from Pets and bananas from Showtime. Of course, the WA plants make it pretty trivial if your second generation hits YA early enough.

With all the expansions it's really easy. I didn't even need the steak plant. To be honest for me it was one of the easiest skills to supermax, although if you play vannilla I guess it's a real challenge. The most difficult thing I find is getting the right seeds. All in all it's a skill needed in the dynasty.

I am leaving gardening as a skill that all my elders can do if they so desire. In my Province Dynasty, my third gen heir was given Green Thumb so that someone could revive the Death Plants if/when they needed to be revived. I've also managed to

So far
Gen 1 Supermaxed Cooking.
Gen 2 Is working towards supermaxing Fishing. (60 fish or so to catch)
Gen 3 has done all the Toddler Painting Books with Founder and they are Best Friends thanks to his nurturer trait. Gen 3 has 4 days until she ages to child. Painting will be her supermax
Gen 4 will supermax sculpting
Gen 5 will supermax handiness
Gen 6 will supermax logic
Gen 7 will supermax charisma
Gen 8 will supermax writing

I do have a question regarding best friends. My Founder has his heir as one of his 6 identified best friends. I then intend to have his heir count the Gen 3 as one of his 6 identified Best Friends and for the Gen 3 heir to count the founder as one of her 6 identified best friends. I think that works, doesn't it?
Founder (Identified BF) of Gen 3
Gen 2 (Identified BF) of Gen 1
Gen 3 (Identified BF) of Gen 2

With my Peppers Dynasty in Union Cove
Founder is supermaxing writing
Gen 2 will supermax painting
Gen 3 will supermax sculpting
Gen 4 will supermax drums
Gen 5 will supermax photography
Gen 6 will supermax inventing
Gen 7 will supermax nectar making
Gen 8 will supermax piano

Fishing/Cooking/Gardening will be available for all immortals.

My understanding of this question is this:
Here are who the Generations will have for their BF requirement:
1 - 2
2 - 3
3 - 1
If so, that works.

With my Peppers Dynasty in Union Cove
Gen 4 will supermax drums
Gen 5 will supermax photography
Gen 7 will supermax nectar making
Gen 8 will supermax piano

Good luck with these four. Drums and Piano both have "Star" challenges which are incorrectly worded and hard to get. They both need ten opportunities for their instruments completed. Photography is rather bugged, with several items not counting when they should (Unless this has been fixed?) and Nectar Making can be iffy with one of it's Skill Challenges.
Still, good luck. :)

My understanding about the best friends is that if Generation 1 counts Generation 2 then Generation 2 could count Generation 1 but Generation 3 cannot count either.  It would be better to do 1 & 2, 3 & 4, 5 & 6 and 7 & 8.

I'm with Seabody on the drums & piano supermaxing though.   The Star opportunities are truly borked beyond repair as it's all based on the skill ops you get and if you want to get the Ops then I wouldn't have them learn any other skill so that's the only one that game can pull from.     Example of why I'm sketchy: Did one of the 12 week challenges for Metro's tournament based around being a rock star.  My sim only knew guitar as a skill and it still took 9 weeks to get the 10 opportunities for the Star Challenge.   An immortal to be gets 3 weeks as a YA, 3 weeks as an adult and then you have maybe 3 weeks if you're lucky before Grim can come knocking.    Without that challenge completed, this sim can't have ambrosia, life fruit or a death flower so they would literally be hoping to get the Op before Grim showed up.  It's unnecessary stress and could cause you to fail.  Especially if you happen to get it for one generation and then don't for the other.     Alexandria had a serious issue with her ops coming in during her dynasty and did almost fail but had to switch to I think Nectar Making at age 81 or something.

Thanks for the warning regarding the supermaxing of those skills. What makes it even crazier in me trying them is that I've got extremely limited experience with those skills (in the case of photography and nectar making zero) and that will add even more stress to me.

Does the rule about not moving sims out of the dynasty house extend to pets? I've acquired a male cat when my founder got Thea Voice and Hebe Smith to move in and then I adopted a female cat. The cats wanted to try for kittens and well Miss Cat got pregnant on their first attempt, so I've got kittens incoming and adopting them out might be a nice thing to do for cat deprived families around Union Cove.

My understanding is that pets can come and go (after all, you need to sell horses as part of the horseman career), but you are aware that when you give pets up for adoption, they go to the shelter and not a family, right?

Yes, I was aware of that, Shirin, thanks for confirming it for me though. :) I'm just of the opinion that any family without a cat is deprived, that's all :)

I understand that!  I wish we could put them up for adoption like the Neighborhood Adoptions and let Sims from around town come adopt the kittens.  It's a shame that our only choice is the shelter.  They don't get a home from there.  I surrendered one to the shelter and when I looked at the paper for adoptable cats, there she was in the paper at the shelter!  I adopted her back in a flash.  I just couldn't stand it.  ;D

Mummy and Daddy Cat just gave birth to two kitties. :) A boy kitten I renamed Red and a girl kitten I renamed Hot. My founder's name is Chilli and they all have the surname of Peppers. I take very little to amuse myself.

I did have a question about this. I now have 5 sim people in my house and 4 sim cats. Can I have another 3 sim people in the house with the 4 sim cats? I know that the normal maximum is 8 for sim people and 6 for sim pets, but I'm not sure of the maximum sim beings you can have in your sim family at any one time.

I did use the search function, because I thought I read something about this in a thread, but my skills at search-fu have never been that great. 'Search-fu', by the way is what another site I'm a member of calls its internal search function.

No. Although the max is 8 for Sims and 6 for pets, you can only have 10 members in the household total. So, if you have 8 Sims, you can only have 2 pets.
