I'm pretty sure any animals can count as best friends.

Yes they take the special op slot which counts as black ops!

Hi guys,

Good news first: my founder made it!  :D
He supermaxed fishing and made 6 best friend just in time. I am so relieved!
Even his buggy wife is still alive :D

The only thing is... my death flower plant wouldn't come to live :(
Is there any other way to get another death flower than planting the one that is in my founders inventory?

I don't understand what you mean about your death flower?  Is your founder a green thumb?  Do you have anyone with a green thumb in your household?  Green Thumbs are the only Sims that can get more than one death  flower from a death flower bush and even then it's a 50/50 chance with revive plant.  Now that your founder is immortal, you do have time to go collect special seeds everywhere to try and find a new death flower.  One way to tell if you might have one is that if you try to sell the special seeds and it is worth $0 then it's either a death flower or a money tree.

Oh, I feel so silly  :-[
Yes my sim has a green thumb, but I didn't know there was a 50/50 chance for reviving the plant. I also didn't know you could get the death flower from special seeds. I thought special seeds were life fruit, flame fruit, plasma fruit or money trees. Still learning...  ;D

One way to tell if you might have one is that if you try to sell the special seeds and it is worth $0 then it's either a death flower or a money tree.

Thanks for the tip! (didn't know that either ;D)

Congrats on your first Immortal! Also adding onto what Rica said, money tree seeds are kinda more golden then other seeds, so if your $0 seeds are brownish it's a deathflower and if it's goldish, it's a money tree.

I'm working on reading this entire thread, but I've only got through about 30 of the 178 (and counting!) pages yet, so if this question has already been answered I apologise, but what are the requirements to "fully upgrade" a vacation house? I intend for my Generation 3 to purchase one in France as her property, but as it's not like a venue I don't know how much is required of me.

While you are able to purchase a vacation home it will not count as one of your official property purchases which must be bought from the town you are playing in.

Let me add to that by saying that it takes a high graphics setting to be able to see that a seed is more golden in color than the others.  As the game's graphic demands increased, I've had to adjust my settings and I no longer see the difference in color.

Like Rachel said, you can't purchase a vacation home as a property but you can buy the Nectary or the Sim Fu Academy.

Once the seeds are planted, and once they sprout, you will be able to tell what they are by hovering your mouse over them. The obvious one is the money tree because the little icon will be a golden tree. The others will just show either the tall plant or the bushy one, without the fruits or vegetables on it, but based on the icon and what type of seed was planted I can usually figure out what it is going to grow into.

When you love, love with your heart, not with your mind.
When you want to be something, the world can't define, open up your eyes.

Special seed bushes are always flame fruit.  Special seed stakes are life fruit, plasma fruit or death flower.    Special seeds that cost $0 are death flowers and money trees.  Special seeds that glow red are plasma fruit.   So if you make several sections you can eventually figure out what is what if you're lucky you'll get one of everything eventually.
