A painting of each stage of life must be included in the museum, and those paintings must be portraits to qualify, I had the same question once a long time ago.

I'm having trouble understanding why, since we can use photographs or ice sculptures if we want [and also since I can paint "portraits" of Sims where they're not even in the picture]. Does it affect something? Obviously, tournaments can have whatever rules they want, but I'm really curious about the motivation behind this one.

I'm not going for the hall of fame anyway [I have a dynasty currently running with a cell phone photo museum], so I suppose it doesn't really matter.

EDIT: Ahhh, the photographs and ice sculptures are in addition to the paintings? Hmm. I've been interpreting that section wrong this whole time.

Consistency with Ambrosia requirements. That's the important thing. Portraits take more painting skill than other options. If someone is on the lot for the painter then clicking on the easel you get the "Paint a Portrait of..." option. That's what you need to do. But, if you're not shooting for the Hall of Fame it does not matter what kind of paintings you choose to do.

Oh, I realize that you have to wait for the proper level of painting skill, I was just wondering if after that it makes a difference to use the Still Life option instead. And if your sim drops a trait when aging up is it permissible to put it back with debug?

I've never been able to "paint a portrait" of a baby for some reason. Is there a trick to this?

I wouldn't ask but I'll probably try for the Hall of Fame at some point, so I might as well try to get everything worked out now.

Yes, you can use the cheat for a dropped trait bug. No problem.

No trick at all. You can't. Portraits only begin with Toddlers.

Hello!

I hope you don't mind a question about the challenge.  I'm playing it through, but I'm not following all the rules precisely. (I have no intention of going for the Hall of Heroes, I'm just playing it for the challenge of a different way of playing.)

I know this board has a no-mods policy.  I do use some mods in game that I didn't remove (mostly bug-fixes, a few add-ons and modded objects).  Would posting my story still be alright, or would I have to not have the mods in to post my story?

Hi Serena. Welcome to the forum. You can definitely use mods if you have no intention of your score being entered in the HOF. Just do not mention the name of the mods in your story.

Thank you very much for the quick reply.  That sounds perfectly fine.

I don't know if I'll post this particular Dynasty or not, since I'm already on the 2nd generation.  It might be a little odd.    If I restart this dynasty (which has happened already, this is attempt number 4, I think?   ::) ) I'll probably post my story up then.

That makes sense. I am much less confused now. Thanks!

I'm sorry but I just can't read through 145 pages to see if this was answered before:

1. Motherlode and Testingcheatsenabled are banned?
2. What if the ice sculpture melts?

As far as sculptures melting, they will.  The only way around that is to complete a certain Sculpting skill challenge that prevents it.

I'm pretty sure all cheats are banned.  I know motherlode would be.  There are some building cheats that might be okay, but I'll let someone else answer that.

The only allowed cheats I know of are:
moveobjects On
resetsim
building cheats
testingcheatsenabled IF your sim is missing a trait.

Any money cheats would be banned for obvious reasons,
"Oh, I'll just give my sims a million bucks so they can buy their properties and build a huge house!"  ::)

I believe a Sim has to do 25 ice sculptures in order for them not to melt.

All money cheats are banned.  Testingcheatsenabled is only allowed to correct a technical glitch.  Adding a dropped trait is a good example.
