LN was fine for me but I never really played in Bridgeport, which I think caused the most problems for LN players.

I didn't patch Generations on the Mac so I'm going to uninstall it and Outdoor Living and hopefully that means it will be back to the way it was before this all started. Then the plan is to transfer my file over, open the game, and if everything is pre-Gen status, nab all my pictures/paintings/gems/metals and lay them out/hang them up anywhere I can find space. Save and transfer the new file to the PC, and see what that accomplished. This will take what's left of my afternoon before my husband gets home. *Sigh* I can deal with the inaccessible personal inventories and treasure chests but this seems like a vindictive stabbing. If I can't fix it, I'll take the afternoon and evening to rave at EA and cry. *Fingers crossed*

Having same photography issues...I'm so bummed about not being able to use my photography skill at all...I lost all my Sims...but...I DO NOT have Generations..I think it was due to the latest and greatest update....not the expansion...I deleted my game and expansions, Ambitions, World Adventures, and Late Night and reloaded them...It would not allow me to download Late Night until I downloaded the new update...and the same thing happened...I cannot use my camera... After I downloaded the new update I was able to use my camera at home, but as soon as I took my Sim out of the country the labels of the different photos stopped showing up (ie the pyramids, a sim in the area, etc). So I did the relaods and not even the cheap camera at home worked...the camera action icon is in the upper right hand corner and will not go away, the photo will not take and my Sim cannot move onto the next action...I so hope there is a patch for this and soon! I had to start a brand new Sim and she cannot use the photography skill and that was an amazing source of income and a really great challenge to try and capture all the different photos...

Oh one more note...sorry...regarding photography issues lilygirl...I tried reloading on 2 different PC's and it turned up the same for both, the 2nd one I did not load Late Night and again I do not have Generations on either.., but still the same problem with the photography issue...think the problem lies in the update...

It can't be just the Gen patch because I didn't have it installed on the Mac since it wasn't available at the time I installed the EP.

Update: It's a no go. I uninstalled Gen and OL but now my Mac won't load LN due to an "unknown error". I may have made a mistake with uninstalling because I've never done that on a Mac before and the husband is at work so I couldn't ask him for help. I drag-and-dropped Gen and OL from Finder<Applications>The Sims 3 and under "Show Package Contents" for The Sims 3 folder into the trash (that's what the internet said to do.) Gen and OL don't show up on the uninstall list when I open my Sims 3 Uninstaller so I think I did it right. Now the game won't load. It's another bad day for Sims and a hair-pulling-and-crying day for me. I hate this game.

Thanks for the support guys, I'm out.

Lily, I understand your situation very well - I had zillions of problems with LN. I had three copies of it - none worked. Only the fourth one is compatible with my game region and such. Looking back on it now, I think that all that hair-pulling was really worth it. Good thing Generations seems a bit easier than LN for my laptop to handle. But all this is nothing compared to Sims 2. Oh the horror - don't want to ever again install that game! At least we didn't have to patch back then, though...
Well, that's your opinion, isn't it? And I'm not about to waste my time trying to change it. - Lady GaGa

@lilygirl:

Have you looked on our Technical Help Board to see if you can find information on your problem?  I found a topic about Completely Re-installing on a Mac.  There's also How to Uninstall/Reinstall all Sims 3 Games.  It's for PC, but maybe it will help.

@Ellie:

The issue about photography is off-topic for this thread.  If you need help, check the boards to see if there's already a topic.  If not, you may start a new one.

Yes, Pam, I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything TS3 related on the PC and the Mac more times than I have fingers to count them on since the first install of Generations on May 31. There are no solutions to my problems that I've been able to think of or find on the internet, short of throwing the game in the trash. Even that's not really a fix.

Tomorrow is always promised to be a better day so maybe Generations will magically fix itself while I sleep and the computers are turned off for the next 8-10 hours. A girl can always hope. If not well I have a Gothic house project to tackle, and perhaps a few others that I've had tabbed for months now, until the next patch comes out, hopefully this summer with the next SP. It's a game, it's supposed to be fun, this is not fun! At least, not by my definition of fun.

Thanks anyway for the suggestions, Pam, you're awesome and I know you're trying to help. This one is beyond help though, it seems. Good night.

Quick question that I know has already been asked before, but I can't find the answer back reading, so sorry for being repetitive.

Working on my 8th Gen and he is an inventor. For the 6 Ops can he use the 5 different OPs called "Master Inventing" (the five different tasks to getting a simbot) and count it as 5 since the actual requirements for each are different, but they are all named the same. I wrote them down on my spreadsheet as Master Inventing (Life Fruit), Master Inventing (Pink Diamond) to signify a difference, or should i just consider it one Op?

Thanks.

Hi IflanaNifi. Congrats on getting to gen 8 and good luck finishing up. The Master Inventing op is all one op because of the same name. Your 6 BlackOps all must have different names.

I figured that would be the case, but it doesn't hurt to double check! Thanks for the quick reply.

@Metro
Sorry to play the contradictory horse, but Pam mentioned differently earlier:

If you're referring to something like the string of opportunities for the Omni Plant, each one counts as an individual opportunity.  Same with the Simbot opportunity.  I can't think of any other multi-step opportunities.  Also note, the Simbot opportunity is bugged in Bridgeport.  After doing all the steps, you don't get the option on the inventing table to actually make the Simbot.

So which ruling do we go with? Does your ruling always take precendence over someone else's? (I can foresee the answer: yes. I'm just double-checking.)

In this particular case, I might have been wrong about the Simbot string of opportunities.  I thought they each had a different name.  If they don't, then I was mistaken.

The Mysterious Invention chain only has that one name for the whole line, and you don't have to wait in between stages for the phone to ring again either.  That makes it fast and easy, but also makes it only one Black Op I think.

Nicely explained why the Simbot Op has to be treated as a single Op.

@Seabody, it's not that Pam and I are disagreeing and it's a "my word is law" kind of thing. ;) Pam forgot that the Simbot opportunities all had the same name. So, it was just a misunderstanding.
