The Sims 3 Immortal Dynasty Challenge

All questions/problems with the immortal dynasty should be done in the immortal dynasty thread.  I'm going to merge this thread with it.

To get the FamilyFunds cheat to work do the following. 

Example Founder Name:  Grizelda Gremlin  with a household name of Gremlin

testingcheatsenabled true
familyFunds Gremlin 1800
testingcheatsenabled false

If the household has spaces you must writte it with double quotes.

For example, for the Von Struggle household you writte

FamilyFunds "Von Struggle" 1800

I thought the cheat wouldn't work if you use quote marks. I've done it a lot in the last 4 years and I've never once needed the quotation marks.  I may do some testing.

Hahaha, just my luck...once I FINALLY got my first immortal heir to elder, finished all of the requirements (which I spent hours grinding about and panicking over0, and he ate his first ambrosia, both of his sons get killed by a meteorite at school. They weren't even outside and couldn't leave the building to get away and kfja;ldsjf;asdf.

I didn't save (didn't want to lose the boys, and it's not like I could continue with the challenge anyway), but man am I really depressed right now. I worked so hard and ja;fdjfalsd.

Question: So, I guess this means I have to restart, if I want to continue trying at the challenge, right? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I just want to make sure before I give up on this file.

I'm sorry to hear about that.   That really sucks.   No other way to put it. 

Yes you need to start over.   Two reasons - an immortal can only be the first born child so if that child dies, you can't replace them & because you quit without saving.

Just think of it as a practice run.  You have officially figured out some of the things to do faster and differently the next time.

Blue Rose--I know how frustrating it is to lose a dynasty you've been working so hard on for so long. But to lose it through no fault of your own because of crazy random happenstance--that must be so awful. I'm terribly sorry. If it's any consolation, I've restarted my Immortal Dynasty more times than I can count and (this is the reassuring part) it gets better every time! You always learn new, better, easier ways of doing things and you may avoid any mistakes you made the time before. Good luck on your next attempt.

Yes Blue Rose, I totally agree with what Rosa says, I've failed so many times I can't count them, though I'm sure if they were added together, I'd have enough founders who could be combined and do the immortal dynasty at least 5 times.

Thanks guys. Just so...frustrating. Especially since I've experienced the meteorite death before, and couldn't get out of the way.

Also, question: We are allowed to have planned extra non-immortal children, correct? If so, are they allowed to get married as well? I'm at the beginning part and need a few non-immortal sims to prepare all of the ambrosia/portraits/etc requirements, and while my previous file had twins born, this one only had a single baby.

They can get married, but keep in mind that their spouse, like everyone else, will need to stay in the house until they die.

And you may find it easier to have the spare be the slave supportive helper and learn some of the skills needed for some of the requirements.

It's horrible when a dynasty fails. Most of mine have failed because of technical issues and the like, which is annoying but for the heir to die is horrible. Let's hope two is your lucky number.

My sim is in France and got stuck in a room so I used resetsim but I didn't put his name. Since he was still stuck in the room I did it again with the sims name and that worked. The next day all my sims that are on vacation are popping out of their actions. Is there a fix so that  I won't lose my progress in France or do I have to go back to a previous save?

Try resetSim again but instead of a name put a *.
