I'll add my welcome, too Kilwala. I hope you'll share your dynasty story with us.

Thank you! I'm definitely planning on sharing!  I don't think I'll be making a blog (as I'm currently doing the legacy challenge and taking loads and loads of screenshots for that), but I'll be happy to make update posts as I go.

I'll direct this to Pam/Metro-- should we abstain from posting screenshots in this thread?  Would external links be better?

Update posts would be much better suited in a story in the Stories section. Many players have started them. Good luck! :)

As to the opportunities for kids - mine got one to take a fish they caught to the science lab.

Also, I have discovered that certain skills are super easy for other Sims to max out when you are off fishing, etc.  My Sim's spouse maxed cooking behind my back.  I never told him to cook or let him cook but he sure enough has maxed it out.  Now I realize that he isn't a problem but once we get a couple generations in the same house it is going to be almost impossible to keep them away from things like cooking.  I always made sure there were leftovers and he doesn't have a natural cook as a trait.  I am never going to be able to make ambrosia so I just may be starting over again.  How are you going to keep your other immortals from maxing out the skills that they shouldn't?  I am thinking it might be best to go with skills for immortals that aren't so likely that others might do when you aren't looking.

Ah, okay, that makes sense :D Thanks!

Just as a very brief update though, my first Immortal, Chizue, just married Billy Caspian (he was a consignment specialist in this game, and they got married right in the shop, lol), and sure enough, he had a Margaret Vaguester in his inventory!  So I'm on day one with a hefty 114,000+ to build a suitable starting dynasty house.  Billy also starts with 4 Painting.  Not bad, huh?

Telsey, I don't understand.  Why will you never be able to make ambrosia?  The natural cook trait has nothing to do with it, anyone with level 10 cooking and enough money can buy the recipe from the bookstore and learn it.

As for keeping them from learning other skills, yeah, I know what you mean.  My founder is a fisherman and I gave his daughter Loves the Outdoors, which was probably a mistake.  Every time I turn my back she's watching the Fishing channel on television!  No, no, watch the Kids channel!  :D

Schipperke My ambrosia problems are the funds for the recipe and getting the ingredients for it.  I have spent so much time with everything else that the fishing is lacking and also the 6 friends.  This is a very hard challenge.  It is very stressful.  You sort of have to be thinking all the time while you play.  I have no doubt I will be forced to start over but I am really good at getting a husband for her.  I had the husband work on painting so he could do portraits and I started off with him doing the gardening too but that didn't work out for long.  It is fun to fool with this challenge though and you really find out where your game weaknesses lie.

Yeah, Telsey, there is really a lot to keep track of.  Fortunately we can start over as many times as we want, and you certainly won't be the first one to do that!  I look forward to hearing about your next Dynasty.

My Founder will not learn fishing probably until a week or so before I think he'll eat Ambrosia. It's one of the last things I'm guessing he'll accomplish. But, fishing is one of the fastest skills you can max. It's entirely possible to max the skill in 3 days (or less) assuming you've got Steel Bladder and Hardly Hungry.

Is there a way to lock a door to other Sims in the household? I don't know if this would work but couldn't you keep the skill objects that you plan on maxing in a room with a locked door and only certain Sims could access it. I don't know if that is possible but it is an idea otherwise when you leave the lot although it would be a pain but you could take away the skill objects and put them in the family inventory so that you don't have to worry about them maxing it while you are away or at least you could do that to the ones they are dangerously close to maxing but can't max! Again just ideas I have started my Dynasty yet so I don't have any idea what I will do but thought that might work.

Aw, you know how I love to ask questions - what kind of prize is that?  Please sir, can I have one more question?  Please?

With your scenario, if Gen 5's SuperMax skill is Athletics, and Gen 6 accidentally maxes Athletics while working on Martial Arts, we know that Gen 6 has to scramble and find another SuperMax skill.  But what about Gen 5?  Do they also have to find a new SuperMax skill, since SuperMax skills are defined as skills not maximized by any other immortals?  What if Gen 5 is already Elder and has eaten Ambrosia?

This is definitely my last question.  Well, until next time.  :D

Answer, please?  ;D

Well, Metro you give me renewed hope.  Actually she has her fishing at level five or six.  There seems so much left to do with her yet and then her hubby maxing the cooking really threw me and I wished I hadn't tried the cooking for supermaxed skill.  Plus they are still living outside and I keep watching for meteors.  After TommyT's disaster I am nervous being out there for so long.  The Sims seem to like it though.  They have a restroom, that's it.  LOL

Well, it appears I have encountered my first bug or glitch in this Challenge.  Generation 2 just became a teenager and I gave her the Savvy Sculptor trait, or at least I thought I did.  When I shut down the game just now, that trait wasn't there.  Her profile shows her as having only the 3 traits she had as a child.  Is there something I can do about this (something legal in this Challenge, obviously)?

Gen 5's SuperMax skill is Athletics. So, if Gen 5 eats the Ambrosia that SuperMax skill is locked to that immortal. If another immortal accidentally maxes Athletics later it's game over. It's harsh but it has to be that way. I'm glad you pointed out the danger in having Athletics and Martial Arts as two different SuperMax skills. I think I may go Inventor's career and Inventing/handiness to replace one of those.

Plus they are still living outside and I keep watching for meteors.  After TommyT's disaster I am nervous being out there for so long.

I'm quite confident that you'd have absolutely no more chance of dying from a meteor by living outside than living under a roof. And just the simple act of living outside cannot possibly spawn more meteors. It's just one of those weird random things.

Thanks for clarifying this.  I think I will try Martial Arts first and hope that Immortal doesn't manage to maximize their Athletic.  If they do, it will just mean choosing a different skill for the later Immortal - I won't have lost the whole game like I would if I did Athletics first.
