It sounds like one of those nasty travel bugs.  Go ahead and continue from your most recent backup.
Thanks Pam.

I have that in my Legacy. They just don't go home. A reinstall did not fix it either. When I travel and need to save I do a Save As for example - Jade France/China/Egypt. As the name then when I get home, no problems appear I do a Save As again to a normal name. I then put the other saves in a Backup folder.

I have a quick clarification I want to ask. Are sculptures and photographs required, or are they only to increase museum value? I thought they were optional, but everybody I see uses them, so I wanted to clarify. Actually, two questions. What exactly is museum value? I know paintings, but what about collectables, or sculptures and photographs?

Since both Metro and Pam are curently offline, I'll answer you Audren.

Only portraits are required. Ratchie and TjSmetana finished their dynasties with only portraits, but most of us are after highest possible museum value so that is why it seem like everyone is using them. Dynasty is playable with only base game.
Museum value is calculated at the end. You go to buy mode, and note one by one each portrait, sculpture and photography you have in museum. But only those count, you can put what ever you want in room(s) you chose to be a museum, but in total value only portraits, sculptures and photographs of different life stages of all immortals are counted.

So get those Portraits started before anything else! It's possble to get all three for your Founder but it all depends on that Consignment Store and it's camera.  ;)

I was lucky in my second completed dynasty I was able to get a camera from the consignment store. Plus getting sculptures of your founders young adult stage can be tricky.

We're allowed to move in other Sims apart from our dynasty bloodline sims, yes? I'm planning to get back to my dynasty soon and was considering moving some more people in if we're allowed.

Yes, you can move in non-bloodline Sims. The challenge of course, is that you're taking up slots by doing so — you can't move them out.

This particular forum is quite long and I'm not sure if it's been mentioned before, but I tried to start a Dynasty in Twinbrook and I think I may have came up with a small rule conflict...
After purchasing the lot, you're required to buy a Stately Statue (10,000-ish Simoleons?), and three Bouquet In Repose paintings (each valued at 500 Simoleons). But between transferring from Buy mode to the Family Inventory, you have to place the paintings on a wall panel. Which is easy enough, but after doing so, you lose money if you remove the wall panel. I guess it's easy enough just to leave it there and build my house from it, but I prefer to start with a clean slate so I bought the Alicia Full Of Hair statue at 1500 Simoleons instead to get my starting value down to the same amount.
Or am I kinda flaunting the rules here, and having that starting wall panel is your intention for the gameplay?

And I'm a bit of nooboo (I love that word! :P) to the forum and wondering should I post notification that I'm intending to start a dynasty and post as I go along, like I've seen others do? And are camera phone photos of the Immortals taken by another Sim okay to use for the Museum, for the Founder at least, until I get a Sim's photography skills up or get a camera?

Hi ColliCub and welcome to our Forum.

First with the paintings, I don't think you're supposed to lose any money when you remove the wall panel.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you do all of it in Build/Buy mode without even touching Live mode?  I mean, make the wall, place the paintings, put them in family inventory, delete the wall.  As long as you do all of that in one session of Build/Buy mode, it should remove the proper amount from your starting funds and you'll have an empty lot to start with.

It's not required to post notification of your intent to play the Immortal Dynasty Challenge.  Just start it whenever you want.  If you're playing for the Hall of Fame, you'll have to let Metro know when you've finished.

Camera phone photos of Immortals are not allow as part of the museum.  You must use a proper camera to take the photographs that go into the museum.

I hope this helps you.  If you have other questions, let us know.  :)

It's been brought to my attention that intentionally killing Sims is not covered in the General Rules (thank you, Alexandria_).

Sims "living out their natural lives within the household" doesn't cover that?   ???

If you don't click undo, demolishing walls that you built for $70 will refund $56, even if you don't leave build mode at all.  But this is an easy fix:  before placing the paintings, open up the cheats panel and type "moveobjects on" and you can hang the pictures in mid air.  The moveobjects cheat is well within the rules.  ;)

I actually brought that up about the Photography challenge. I asked if we could kill of a sim to get the picture of death, etc. That wasn't mentioned in the rules of that specific challenge.
Metro then decided to put it in the general rules for all challenges.

So I'm not exactly sure why it's been added to the dynasty rules, because "living out their natural lives within the household" does cover that.
I just thought that I'd explain why that originally came about :)

Where in the Immortal Dynasty rule set do you find the additional rule of not intentionally killing Sims?

I think she means under "Adding to Your Household". It says...
Quote
  • No Sim may ever be moved out of the household by any means. Spouses and non-immortal offspring are to live a full and natural life and their eventual death can never be expedited in any way.
