I have a bit of an issue here.

My almost 3 year old nephew (who I love dearly) got onto my laptop this morning while I had it on the Sims - I had to go and do a job for a family member here. When I got back, he was there pushing buttons on the laptop and the mouse. And my Saurus family have somehow gone kaput. May I please return to the previous save and continue on from there?

@Deklitch: Yes, you can use a previous save.

And my humble apologies for the delay. I still check the TS3 dynasty threads and don't plan to abandon them, but I goofed up and forgot to do so recently. As I've said elsewhere, it's been a fun time hunting for a job (lots of offers but I'm still in unemployment limbo).

Thank you very much Trip, I'll get back to them, and be much more careful when my nephew's around in the future.

Question – when it says that season length, saving memories, etc. is all player's choice, can that be altered at any time during the game? Specifically, I have Seasons, and the winter dormancy is being buggy with my plants (and gardening is supposed to be my Founder's Supermax skill), so I'm wondering if I can change the seasons so that winter is gone or summer is a lot longer. Or do I have to use the settings I set at the time of the founding?

Also – the rules say you can only ever use Edit Town at the founding of your game. However, what if there is a bug with the consignment shop? I've had it before, it makes you unable to sell your goods. When you replace the shop in Edit Town, everything goes back to normal. In my dynasty game, the consignment shop is broken like this; am I allowed to replace the shop?

@evicmax: Welcome to the forum.

1. It's up to the player's choice but that choice needs to be made at the start of the game. Have you tried moving the plants indoors with the moveobjects on cheat? They'll grow year-round in an enclosed room.

2. Bugs are a different beast. You can replace the shop.

Do the cases from the PI career count as opportunities?

@kaitlin980 welcome to the forum.

Provided the cases from the PI career take up either the career, skill or special opportunities slot, they do count.

This is related to all of the Sims 3 Dynasty challenges.

In my playing in Roaring Heights, it appears that the library in town doesn't have the bookcase that gives all the skill books, like Twinbrook and Bridgeport. Can we extend the rule regarding adding that bookcase to Roaring Heights as well as Twinbrook and Bridgeport, please?

@Deklitch: Thanks for bringing it up. Seems fair to add Roaring Heights to the list, but I'll have to officialize it at lunch or after work.

Actually, I found an even better way to word the rule from the Life States Dynasty rules.

So the rule about adding the Book Corral to libraries without it has been changed from listing specific towns to:

Quote
If your town library is missing the skill books, you may use Edit Town to place Book Corrals in the library.

Hi! I know the rules forbid intentionally killing off household members, but are there any restrictions on killing Sims not in the household?

I was reading through the current version of the rules* and noticed that they say both 'you cannot complete the Oh My Ghost! opportunity' and 'The Oh My Ghost opportunity is only allowed to be used for pre-made ghosts'.  Does that mean you can use Oh My Ghost! but not count it as one of the six unique ops?  If it doesn't mean that, what does it mean?

Also can you bind ghosts with the Philosopher's Stone?

*What, doing another dynasty?  Moi?

@NK-P: Looks like you found a loophole in the rules! I honestly don't really care about closing it. Unless there's a clear advantage to killing a non-household member that someone can point out, go ahead.

@hazelnut: Oh shooooot that rule needs re-writing. The second one is the correct one, because it was determined some time ago that we were being huge hypocrites by saying "yes" to stuff like the Philosopher's Stone and Zombie Curse/Sunlight Charm for pre-made ghosts but "no" to Oh My Ghost and the genie's Resurrection wish for them, because they all lead to the same thing.

So, here's a fun fact: I've never actually used the Oh My Ghost op, at least not in recent memory. Does it complete like a regular opportunity? I remember Ghosts of Twinbrook fondly and know you've done it more than I have. :P But if it completes like a regular opportunity does (i.e. clears itself from the opportunity panel upon completion), I say it should be counted. If not, then I think it's just too weird of an op.
