Crumplebottom 4x4 Dynasty

Introduction

My name is Agnes Crumplebottom.

I’m sure you’ve heard all the gossip by now, I’m a grumpy widow who’s wasting her life mourning a man who’s never coming back. Well, you’re wrong. Everyone’s wrong. I’m not wasting my life, and Erik is coming back.

I’ll start at the beginning, the day he died. It was the second day of our honeymoon in Isla Paradiso. As expected, Erik wanted to go swimming and I wanted to stay reading on the beach, so we agreed to do our own thing and then meet at the hotel that evening for dinner. But he never showed. First I was angry, and then I heard the sirens and an awful dread filled me. He’d drowned, they told me later, an accident that couldn’t have been prevented.

I couldn’t bare it. I couldn’t believe it. It didn’t make sense. Erik was the strongest swimmer I ever knew and he was always so safe. As usual, I turned to my books for guidance. Hours upon hours of research and… nothing! Not one explanation. But I wouldn’t give up.

People began to say I was obsessed, refusing to change out of my mourning clothes, isolating myself, desperately searching for something that didn’t exist. Somewhere around the four year mark, I began to believe them. Then she came.

She appeared before me one morning as I was leaving for the library and stopped me in my tracks. Her wings (yes, wings) shimmered in the light and her face was inhuman in its beauty, but I wasn’t afraid. How could I be, when her smile was so gentle?

“Agnes,” she said softly, reaching out and clasping my hand.

“You’re here to tell me about Erik,” I said, not knowing how I knew, but knowing all the same.

She nodded with a sad smile. “He drowned, Agnes. He’s dead.”

Unless you have felt it yourself, you can’t imagine the deep, aching pain of a broken heart. It catches your breath and crushes your lungs. I could only stare at her, breathless, pleading with all my being that what she was saying wasn’t true.

“He’s dead,” she repeated, “but it wasn’t a natural death, and there’s a way you can bring him back.”

Perhaps you’ve felt a broken heart equal to mine, but I’ll never believe anyone has felt such hope and happiness as I did then.

“What happened?” I asked eagerly.

“Fourteen years ago, Erik met a beautiful woman.”

I was jealous for a moment, then, blushing, I remembered the young university student I was back then.

Erik had come over to speak to my father about something, and he couldn't tear his eyes away from me.

“He fell very deeply in love with her, and she with him," the woman continued with a knowing smile, "but they couldn’t be together. You see, Erik was not a normal man. He was a supernatural being, and it’s against the Supernatural Code to be with a human. So, he made a wish. Ten years with this woman in exchange for his soul.”

I gasped and pressed my hands to my mouth. “Who- Who has his soul then?” I asked shakily after a moment.

The woman looked very grave. “No fairy would grant his wish except for one, Eifah.”

I shivered at the name.

“She granted his wish and made both of you forget. Four years ago today, she claimed her prize and took his soul to the underworld.”

Maybe you think I was naďve to believe her straight away, but how could I reject what I’d been searching for for so long?
“How can I get him back? Tell me!” I cried.

“You must found a dynasty. All of the instructions are in here.” She handed me a thick, dusty book, which I held tightly to my chest. “You must begin, and your descendants must continue. Once it’s finished, you and Erik will be together forever.”

“Yes,” I was saying before she even finished.

“Wait. There are some conditions, a shorter lifespan, a-”

“I don’t care, I’ll read about them.”

She looked at me searchingly, then nodded. “That is your decision, however I must tell you, it will not be easy and if you fail, you and your descendants will all be taken to the underworld.”

I swallowed, clutched the book tighter and agreed.

We stood there watching each other for a long moment, and I felt something like recognition tugging at me. I took a step closer but she leapt back and began to fly away.

“Wait!” I called after her. “Who are you? What’s your name?”

She was already gone.

So now you know my true story. Maybe I am just a grumpy widow, but I know my task. I will get Erik back.

I'm really enjoying playing Agnes, and her back story is tragic, so perfect for the start of a dynasty :D

That was an interesting background! Go, Agnes!

Thanks :)

Chapter One: A Makeover and a Marriage

The first thing I did after the woman left was go to the library and read the book cover to cover.

There were many rules and restrictions, and by the end I knew I couldn’t do this alone. I took a minute to prepare myself, then off I went into town.

I was right when I thought the park seemed to be the ideal place to start. There was Simis Bachelor.

Gus Hart.

Casper Santos.

It felt strange introducing myself to people who’d lived in the same town as me for four years and it made me realise how little I really knew everyone. There were many men there, but nobody seemed interested in anything but friendship. I went to bed that night feeling dejected and hopeless, but rose the next day with a fresh determination. I knew what I had to do.

I spent one last morning with Erik, then transformed myself.

Away with the dull hair and mourning clothes, they clearly scared the men away, in with the new elegant, beautiful Agnes.

I also had to start taking this marriage thing seriously. I couldn’t waste my time with someone too old or who already had a family, I needed a young single man who could put up with my slight grumpiness and wouldn’t ask too many questions. Only one man fit the bill.

I went to see Connor Frio immediately. We hit it off right away, both being bookworms and loners, and I found myself almost enjoying the time we spent together, but when I opened my mouth the ask the fateful question, the words stuck in my throat. I ended up inviting him over instead. It was only then, with Erik’s grave in view out the window I could bare to get down on one knee and present him with a ring.

I felt nothing but guilt and unhappiness as I slid it onto his finger. He was so happy and so trusting, when I was just using him. But I needed Erik, needed him desperately, and this was the only way to get him back.

We had a private wedding right then and Connor became Mr Crumplebottom. Perhaps, in another life, I could have loved him, but even as we kissed, my heart seemed to break all over again.

We sat down the next morning and had a serious talk.

I couldn’t tell him the truth of course, but I let him know there were certain things I wanted from life, properties, career rewards, etcetera. He agreed as easily as I could have wished, taking my hands and telling me he’d do anything for me.

I turned my head away and tried not to cry.

That day he quit his job as a journalist and began to work on his gardening skill and I joined the culinary career. I only got one day of work in though before I had to take the day off because…

I never ever meet someone with Casper Santos name, Meg  :o

Connor Frio is an interesting choice as Dynasty 'spouse'. Agnes and Connor are both loners!

There is a perfect song that can describe this. The One Who Got Away crossed on my mind when I see "in another life" part. I hope that Erik will not mad at her when he’s back. I hate when after what Agnes done, her effort is… you know what I means :)

I feel sorry for Connor. But, she didn't have another choice in order to bring Erik back.

Poor Connor seems devoted to Agnes. Perhaps one day he'll understand.

Thank you, everybody! I feel bad for Connor too, but it had to be done.

I never ever meet someone with Casper Santos name, Meg  :o

Casper is a social worker in Sunset Valley, so I don't think he has a house. It's a shame he's an adult (since the spouse had to be YA) because he's got quite good traits (neat, family-oriented, perfectionist, grumpy and frugal) and the LTW The Perfect Garden.

What a great start! This looks like it'll be fun. Agnes seems to get sidelined a lot, so it's nice to see her get a turn in the spot light.

Congrats! Hopefully I'll be able to finish, I've not really planned it out so I might crash and burn :3

In case anyone was wondering, the previous screenshots were from a separate file. The screenshots in this post are the first from my actual dynasty file and, unless I mention otherwise, all screenshots from now on are from my actual dynasty file. In that one Agnes and Connor married on the first day and the heir was born on day 5.

Chapter 2: Welcome to the World...

You’d think I’d have been happy. I should have been happy. I should have been thrilled to be pregnant. It’s something I’ve always wanted and something that’s necessary to move the dynasty along, but… I don’t know. I guess I always thought I’d be having Erik’s child, having Connor’s just felt wrong.

It’s been my habit for so long to vent by talking to Erik that I just couldn’t help myself.

I felt like the guilt was eating at me when I went inside and saw Connor watching me sadly. He was wonderful throughout the pregnancy though, giving me massages and getting all the watermelon I craved.

It just made me feel worse in the end though.

To distract myself, I spent some time making friends. My boss, Molly French, is very nice and even offered me a promotion when she found out I was pregnant.

But when Molly was at work I didn’t have much to do and spent a lot of time wandering aimlessly around town. This was when I came across the Langerak household and an idea struck me. Connor would need some help in creating a garden big enough to earn a decent amount of money and I’d heard rumours that young Zelda Mae enjoyed gardening.

I approached her nervously at first, but soon we were chatting like old friends.

“I wish I could move out,” Zelda admitted to me. “Get away from everyone and do what I want. Illiana insists I have a “proper” job while I live under her roof, but all I’ve ever wanted was to garden.”

It was very easy after that to offer her a place in our household. Connor was a little surprised, but pleased to have somebody a little more experience to help him with the garden. The two of them have started small, but hopefully it’ll soon grow with the special seeds they find lying around the graveyard and science centre.

I’ve also bought the Bistro and the Spa to get started on the property requirements, both of which give a little money and will end up paying for themselves.

The rest of my pregnancy was uneventful but comfortable, so I wasn’t prepared when labour came and it HURT.

What was worse, Connor just freaked out.

I took matters into my own hands and headed upstairs where he wouldn’t bother me.

A few hours later we welcomed into the world…

Kiwi Crumplebottom!
