School too crowded-Would a 2nd school help?
« on: October 12, 2013, 07:52:29 AM »
I searched for a thread about this topic but didn't find one.

I am playing a town hop type of game and I have tons of children and teens.  There are so many kids it takes a few hours for all of them to get inside the building.  Would building a second school in town help this situation?  Is there a way to pick which school a family attends or will it just assign them to the closest one?

Thanks for any help

If you don't mind mods I can suggest something.

But I have the same problem (since I'm playing without certain mod at the moment), however I just click "go to school" several times (so they don't skip school) and it seems that they still get credit (grades don't go down) even though they are hovering at the front door in the crowd, opportunities don't complete until you get into the school building though.

I just watch and make sure they get there, sometimes it takes my Sims until 10:30 - 11 in the morning to get into the school.

Doesn't answer your question, but just my experience with it.

:)

Why do you have so many teens and kids? Have you made sure there are alot of sims in your world by moving random familys in? Or did it just happen? I have the issue that I have not enough kids at school at all.

I'm playing in Hidden Springs but I removed all families and added my own.  Way too many kids but I hate to delete or move some after I played them.  I get very attached!

So far, the one school is working.  Cndneh was right, even though it takes a while for all kids to get inside, it doesn't seem to effect their grades.

I didn't try a second school because I want the kids to be friends with as many town families as possible.

I also play with aging and story progression off, I just jump from family to family, cake them up as they meet certain criteria.

Thanks for all the ideas and info.

You can try sending the kids to school right at 7. They won't take the bus because it comes at 8 so they'll just hop on their bikes and get there before everybody else. This will probably help them get into the school right away!

Really? I play like that too! I've never met someone who plays like that too. Aging and story progression off - jump from family to family and age them up manually (I count the days in a little notepad). I get attached to all the families :) But perhaps you have more families that me, because I don't have crowding in my school, and the game keeps adding a couple new families (that I then delete). :D

I think I got the idea from you, Pallyndrome!  I did get a bit over-ambitious this time.  I have a family for every letter of the alphabet and I rolled for number of children.  Some families have as many as 4.

Oh! Wow that's a lot of families! Right now i have 18 but that is set to go up because my latest generation is leaving home and making new families. I inspired you? That's awesome! :D

I usually don't follow my Sims to school, but after I realised I could change the appearance of other Sims, and noticing that LaShawn Ursine was still totally bald after aging up to teen, I wanted to give her hair lol. So I followed my sims to school so I could easily catch LaShawn, and noticed everyone waiting outside the school to go in, too. But I did notice that the green action bar (at school action) still goes up while they are waiting to get inside the building, I didn't get any "missing school" notification.
Is there a way to edit rabbit hole buildings? I was thinking if you can, you can add more than one set of doors to the building? I'm not sure how rabbitholes are set up, if they are made so that only one door is accessible?

Unfortunately, you cannot edit rabbit hole buildings. I wish we could do that too.  :'(

If you are using the NRAAS Story Progression Mod then yes adding a second school would solve your school issues.  If you are using EA's Story Progression then probably not.
